Eli is a beast but I don’t think anyone will come close to king.
Once Jett figured it out he will get a few but even Eli’s 50 is unreal.
I had this exact thought when everyone was talking about Jett doing it after 1 win, while Eli is the only current rider with a real shot at this right now. I think it’s possible, but I would bet ‘no’ because even if he can get another title or two, I think he would achieve them by just being in the mix every week, much like last year was going.
But I would LOVE to see it, always hated MC, and it’d be great to never hear about 72 or ‘the king’ again. Eli is in year 11 of 450SX, think about how much better he is now than MC was in his year 11 (03’). And we can’t even compare their outdoor careers.

It's funny how every one talks about how many guys can win and how deep the field is. If that is the case, how's come we never have any more than a few different winners every year. It's cause there are only ever a few that can and will win.
4 races and 4 different winners, and he ain't one.

Honestly its way more likely that Tomac gets another 21 wins and keeps racing for 3 years, wins 3 more supercross titles. Than it is that Jett is going to beat McGrath's record over his whole career..
King Eli, that sounds good. I don’t think that is Eli’s priority. Unlike a Jett or a Bubba who crave the attention.
Respectfully, no. Eli still has a long way to go, and even with three more great seasons, riders tend to win less and less as they close in on retirement age. He's already had a hall of fame career, and I feel like he's in it to avenge the championship he lost last year. However many wins he racks up on the way is just a side quest.
I can see Tomac riding off into the sunset if/when he lands another SX title.

Why does everyone say that records don't matter to Tomac? He seemed pretty stoked each time he earned one.
Why does everyone say that this is his last season? Quoting the OP, Tomac said in his post race interview that his there's a chance that his injury extended his career another season or 2.
I'll stick with my take: As long as he's competitive and having fun, he'll stick around.
In my opinion, beating the all time win record would be worth an extra SX season.
As for this season, I think Tomac's performance is where it needs to be. As in most seasons, he's just getting warmed up.
We'll see how things go in the coming weeks/months. If he clicks off 7 wins this year, the overall wins record will have to be on his mind.
Technically speaking yes, but full time seasons he only raced 10. He did do a few races in 2013, his last year on a 250 and this year he has started his 11th season. He also missed part of 2014 after getting injured at A1, I think the first 4 races.
MC will always be the king of SX. I don't care if someone races until 38 years old and matches his win record, let's see them win 7 450SX titles in 8 years.
Same goes for RC and his 10 straight outdoor titles.
I bet he would love to win another Daytona!

I love ET3, but no. It will not happen. I find solace in the fact that he has the most 450 4 stroke wins - which I think will be hard to beat on its own.
Dude, from your lips to gods' ears!!!!!! Let's have it!!! I'd be overwhelmed. Hell, I hope he never retires, I just feel that some of us follow the sport closer than others and can give a somewhat of a realistic opinion or logical guess from what the rider has said in the past and other factors etc. lol. Just saying.
I'm not alone here from what others have said. It would be awesome if he stayed and won 3 more SX and 3 more national titles!!! Is he motivated by accomplishments? absolutely... Hopefully he wins 7 SX events this year. He would still need 15 more wins to match Jeremy. What others have done compared to him is great but not what drives him and he's not going to be around long enough. I really hope I'm wrong!! I can't believe I posted again on this ridiculous topic

We'll have to see. I think when a rider is done, it doesn't matter if he needs just one more win to break a record. He's over it.
Eli seemed over it until he went blue. He's been having fun ever since.
So, let's just see what happens.
As much as I'd love to see him race the outdoors, then SMX finals, and MxON, if he just races SX, we might see him for 2 more years, and that big number 72 may be too enticing not to go after.
I think 7 wins this year is going to be extremely tough for him unless some of the other top guys crash out of the series.

Eli has a seat at the table of the American greats, but he will never sit in the Kings throne and that is no slight towards him. If James could have kept it together when RC finally retired, he may have been the person to make a run. JS had a window of opportunity with the competition he faced post Carmichael to be as dominate as RC outdoors and MC indoors but it didn't materialize for various reasons.
