Love Rio , grew up there but Mother Nature and her don't get along too well.  3P Woods track is where ride most time as turns are my weakness and it has great turns and off camber up/down and sweepers. The Safari track should be killer on the Beta.  GP doesn't seem to have as much sand as it did few years back....Emil sure can build tracks. Ultimate is nothing like it used to be, Glen has put lot of time into....heck of a workout. I'd bet Murphy's would be cool on the Beta

put a STIC in it and leave it alone imo. Nothing better than a fire breathing keihin equipped 300 with KYBs.

You mentioned the Safari trails at 3 Palms.  I wanted to ride my Beta 300 RX on the trails last time I was there but they didn’t have the trails open.  One of the guys parked next to me said the trails were fun to ride.  Maybe next time they will be open.

I second the work Glen has put into Ultimate, much different than it used to be.  Glen knows how to build a track too.  He should, he  had a top 50 number back in his racing days.  Along with owns a dirt works company.  Pretty sure he has enough sand and dirt to build a track.

Right? Today is 34F with a feels like of 25F so I am out until it warms up. We usually ride Fridays if they are open. We are trying to increase the amount of guys for Friday so it makes sense for her to open for us.

I tried getting Fridays rolling, but nope. I want badly to support, but even the messages often aren't up to date.

I've only been out their on my #53 200SX, the 3hun is on stand by.

I have a 21 300RX still. It’s been my favorite bike ever for quite a while now. If I can only have 1 bike at a time, this is the one Honda down. Wish I had the KYB shock like the newer ones though.  I fought the Sachs shock for a bit before I got it dialed in good.

waiting on my 450RX to show up yet though.

FYI on that ZF shock, a buddy installed an upper clicker assembly that KYB'd it. He repeatedly re-valved, the insert was "one and done".

+1  The new STIC Super X carb boosts every aspect of the powerband...more so than the insert meter block. My 200SX  makes my forearms ache for days. LOL

I've assisted a couple guys with 250 and 300 SX's and they are on pace with 450's now. I've been looking into conversion to the STIC carb and keep the rest in place, ie. ePV and ignition mapping.

Faster is not always better. My JM Racing RM250 is waaay faster but in a 30-minute moto I am pretty sure this bike will be in front.

I hope to just change the springs for suspension mods. 165# springs, WTH?

** Ride Report**

We did our Friday ride at Rio Bravo yesterday (where were you H-Town guys?) and the bike was really good. The rear shock needs to go up maybe 1 or 2 spring rates but it responded well to increasing the compression and the sag was at 105 so pretty close to where it should be. It is sprung for 165#s I hear but I am over 200#s with gear so that seems strange. I am going to leave the forks alone.

The motor is amazing. I tried the rain mode but didn't like it and the sunshine mode rips. There are no flat spots in the powerband and it builds power smoothly and rips on the top end. I tried the stock tires and they were pretty good until you really lean the bike over then the front tire gives up. I will put Dunlops on it pretty soon. The Brembo brakes are fantastic but you probably already know that and having the GO button is tits. The tank is a little wide and I got used to it but the 2X4 seat is brutal. I rode a bronc or two in my life and my butt is bruised. The padding is non-existent. Does anyone have a recommendation for this with an all-slip seat cover?

The turn-in and handling are very similar to my Suzuki's which is a blessing. It is very predictable and does nothing strange under acceleration or braking. Fit and finish is typical Italian perfection.

Overall this bike is a 10/10 and exceeded my expectations. If you get a chance to ride one expect to cut a check in the near future. it is that good.

Rio was perfect. They completely reworked the track the day before and they didn't till it too deep because of all the rain that we have coming this week.

Come out and ride with us on vet Fridays. We are trying to get the number of vet riders up so it makes sense for her to be open on Friday. 8 of us vets had the whole track to ourselves, much safer this way and no dust to choke on.

I don't know why Beta continues to make that horrible seat.  "2x4" is a very accurate description.

I had great luck with the Enduro Engineering tall soft seat with a Guts seat cover. It was the best thing I ever bought for my 480.

Finally got to ride it. Been out twice. 30 degrees last ride haha. Riding in deep sand. I am very impressed by it. I am actually thinking it would make a better single track bike then my 24 TX300. It is just better plain and simple. Long time Husky/KTM guy here, first time Beta.

I didn’t know Rio was open on Fridays.  I thought only Sat and Sun.  They were open today, Presidents day.  I found that out after I had other plans for today.

I’ve been eyeing the 300RX model myself for awhile.
Once I get healed up and, back to work I’ll have to go check one out.

Don't ride much Parkinson's has taken it's toll still ride just super slow, but it still makes me smile.  But my Stepson rides and races all three, I hang out still involved in the sport I love, so it's money well spent. And to Bultokid, I had a 78 250 Pursang wish I still had it, I am jealous.

Ride Report - Have ridden it twice so far at 3 Palms Woods Track...and damn, it's a fun bike to ride.  Handles really well and motor is stout, hauls the mail for sure.  Only thing done so far is had the x-trig preload adjuster and stiffer rear spring for my lard azz.  that x-trig sure is sweet setting your sag. Running PV adjuster with stock pv springs and backed out flush. Impressed with the Beta so far. Mixin' gas and Haulin' Ass

Glad you like your Beta.  I like mine.

I swapped the factory seat for Guts with tall foam.  Also swapped pegs out to Flo Eng for my long legs and did the rear spring, I’m a big guy too.

I may ride mine at 3 Palms on Wed if I can get my wife’s action item list done…….my actions.  If not Ultimate MX.

Just got my suspension done by JM Racing and what a difference. Went up 1 on both front and back springs and re-valved it.

Vernon McKiddy revamped Rio Bravo and it is really good now and it is getting busy on the weekends.

We will be riding at 9 AM this Friday weather permitting and it is nice having the track to ourselves. (semi-fast but safe Vet guys).

Meet us out there.

I forgot to mention I ordered a Tall Seat Concepts from Ronny Saturday after riding. I only thought my TC250 seat was hard...really isn't too bad on mx track but did couple loops on the Safari Track and that was that. I've got some .50 springs for the forks but running the stock right now as it's not close to broke in and playing with clickers little bit have got it feeling pretty good on the Woods Track. John's been doing my stuff for decades so if can't get it right it'll be heading his way. We are usually at 3 Palms on Sunday unless off racing vintage mx.  We used to ride Ultimate every Sunday but switched over to 3P couple months ago Haven't been to Rio in awhile but have spun many a lap there

I ordered a tall seat from Enduro Engineering and it made a huge difference. Junkman has been doing my bikes since the 1990s and the revalve was amazing.

3 Palms is terrible, meet us Friday morning under the pavilion. We have a good group of riders and we don't take chances so no injuries.

Would love to but still working full time. The Woods track is awesome,  if you haven’t ridden it lately it’s been rebuilt with our coming AHRMA vintage race in mind. I need to hit up Rio again as well
