Why would you not do it on Friday before Supercross (time difference) so on Saturday it's a big part of the conversation in San Diego. Yes they're European but still...
It's the annual launch event for their MotoGP and WSBK official teams (both world champions two years in a row). They just happen to add the presentation of their brand new MX team to this venerable event.
Revealing the bike would have nothing to do with them racing SX when they don’t have a team for SX yet.
Now it's part of an even bigger conversation... MotoGP.
Wonder if they will just anounce the team but not show the bike? Could happen!
The only 'stolen" pic we saw and that was quickly deleted showed a very CRF like alloy frame and R-Tech CRF kit plastics... which was pretty disappointing.
Maybe it was just camouflage... I hope it doesn't stay like that, as far as body design goes...
That announcement doesn't say anything about unveiling the 450.
The bike will be shown. It will be the race bike that they are racing in the Italian Nationals, not the production bike, but they are obviously close.
Also Monday is the perfect time in terms of supercross, it might have internal industry talking but the race will overshadow the release. Anyone in business knows if you want to bury a press release, do it on Friday afternoon.
Wonder if Ducati (or any other oem) might try throttle-by-wire on an mx bike. Could help bridge the gap to e-bikes, as far as tunability of the throttle/power curve is concerned.
If anyone will bring electronics in MX to a new level that's Ducati.

Not anymore he doesn't.
I think it was early last year , or late in 2022, that Lupino had some sort of growth removed or defect on his vocal chords rectified, that they'd discovered he'd had since he was a kid.
When he was talking about it - with a very, Very different voice from previously, he said something along the lines of that he sounded like a Man now.
