I actually really enjoyed the track on Sunday. It was technical with traction in every corner because the dirt had setup nicely.
Well shit, I live in San Jose and work in San Mateo and it was just sprinkling and didn’t rain much. Good call on a better update for this weekend, see you at club next weekend then.

Looks like most of the rain will be from 2-5PM, it’s gonna be drenching for a couple hours.
Best course of action would be to have early practice , cover up the track before the heavy pour, then take out the plastics right before the night show as it’s showing it’ll clear up around 5.
Might be able to salvage a decent night of racing if it doesn’t get too muddy

Yep. I was trying to stay positive by saying it wasn’t gunna be a mudder, but it looks like Mother Nature has other plans.
The difference between SF and Seattle is that one gets rain a few months of the year and is otherwise sunny and the other gets it year round.

The forecast went from 4hrs of rain to 8hrs, from 82% chance to 95% chance, and from .46" to .63". Before yesterday it was on the opposite trend. I track weather daily on a lot of different platforms (windy.com, NOAA, etc) and AccuWeather is usually pretty accurate. Not looking good for Saturday. Get out the crisco oil, foam, and roll-offs:

Going to NorCal 2nd week in January is always going to be a big risk. I'd love to see this round swapped with Seattle, and we have Seattle indoors at T-Mobile (nee Safeco) park and then SF at Oracle in late March when it's less likely to be rainy. Even when Oakland was round 5 in early February it was better than race 2.
^^ This is true. We have gotten really lucky the last few years at Oakland, the rain just always seemed to miss supercross weekend, but looks like the luck runs out this time around. Now the decision on whether to go sit in the rain, or watch it from the couch at home. My teenage boys will probably have me driving down and sitting in the rain, lol
Just hate to see the early rounds destroyed. At a minimum, first 5 rounds should be under roof so we get to see some actual SX and not elite riders rolling the doubles.
Hopefully they can adjust the schedule a bit to tarp it up as much as possible. Looks like the bulk of the rain will be in the morning. Cut it down to maybe one practice, and this could maybe make the track slightly better. Still everyone will be rolling around, which sucks given it’s only round 2.
It's going to be difficult to keep dry, especially if it is raining as much on race day as predicted. Yes they can cover the jumps, but you can't do anything about the start straight, and the transitions are going to be super soft and sketchy with the run off when they pull the tarps. Not to mention they are building the track with wet dirt.
The rain will stop tonight and they will have a 48 hour window to dry, build, seal, and tarp.
it’s the rain on race day that has me opting out of making the drive down.
If it's a mudder, I just hope RJ is in second on the last lap. Laughed so hard at new jersey last year.
