Has Tomac Gone a year to long?

Nope.  Even if the guy never wins another race (and I think he will) supercross is infinitely better with him out there.  It’s a little premature to call Tomac washed-up or Jett the champ after only one race.  It’s a long season.

what stats or logic do you use to claim that?.

what am i missing from the last two seasons regarding facts and not emotions around Tomacs speed that prooves that he is or will ever be at the same pace as Jett?

Or do we really gonna go back 3-4 seasons to justify this?

Really? Did Sexton ride the whole summer? Or was he off the bike for a period of time also? I'll help you out with a hint, think concussion. Sheesh, well, this is vital.

He should have said "almost the whole summer."

Tomac will be on the podium regularly. He will almost certainly win some races.

He is notorious for starting off slowly in A1. So this result especially can’t be read into, But even if you want to read into it…

He is returning from a freak injury and this was the first time he has been at race speed in like 9 months. A speed which Jett and Sexton have increased a bit and the likes of Webb, Anderson and Roczen have been pushing to meet. They all knew what Jett was about. So Tomac is returning to a field where everyone is faster than before his injury.

if he fails to win a race this year. He might regret the extra year. But I would rather watch him try to match the new pace. Sexton had raw speed at times which looked unbeatable. Tomac managed to find ways to win. I expect he will continue to do so.

Hey, hey, hey! This is Vital, no comon sense posts allowed. LOL

Why in the world would Eli ride last night at a speed he's not 100% comfortable. Just needs a bit of time before a waxes everyone sans Jett. Healthy Eli and Healthy Jett= epic racing

Jett and Eli were both healthy last night, and Eli would have needed to find an average of more than 2 seconds a lap to make that epic racing.  Jett’s average lap time was 1:03.599 way out front with no need to push.  Eli’s average was 1:05.966.  2+ seconds is a lifetime at that level.  That’s the same gap between Eli and Shane McElrath’s average lap time last night.

Well, healthy in that neither had covid. But you don't just hop on the bike and expect to be in top form. This is where experience comes in. Eli knows he's still not in top form and has no need to rush it. Plenty of racing to go this season.

Revisit this post at round 15 and see who is in the conversation still. The reason most A1 winners don’t follow with a championship is because you do not want to be at your peak form at the first race of a sixth month, long series, or a 10 month long series if you include the whole SMX

So you think Jett is just at his peak early and will fizzle out as the season goes on? I hope you’re right!

I think what most of us know is…it’s a long season with A LOT of racing…and…just like in Jett’s Heat Race, last night…

I personally don’t think Jett will “fizzle out” but I do think he’ll get beaten by several other riders, and will make some mistakes that will cost him overalls. I also believe Jett will learn..,learn from all of this, and will come back stronger, and wiser next year.

Looked like vintage Eli. Starts the season off slow, then will have some absolutely berserk beast mode rides starting a few rides into the season.

Problem is, he’s already 1/2 a race worth of points behind the guy that went undefeated last summer and just became the first rider in history to win his very first premier class main event.  He started out slow, for sure, but beast mode hasn’t been a thing for a minute.  A 25 year old Eli would be a different story.  To expect Eli to improve his pace that much in his 30s is unreasonable.  I’m not saying all the stars won’t align and allow him to win a race or two later in the season, but if Jett stays healthy (and that’s a big if in Supercross), Eli won’t find the speed to beat him for the championship.

Jett doesn’t go un defeated this SX season.  I was there and watched him make mistakes as much as anyone. Those will rear their ugly head in a main event and someone will be their to capitalize.

I agree, he can't afford to lose many points to a guy that may not give many away the entire season

Chases's own words from late in the 2023 season. Does this sound like he thought he was riding well? But I'm sure you know better. The whole summer, lmao

" I believe that I've been a better rider in the last few races, and that's something I can always look back on and be positive about. Like I said, it's tough and I'm a racer and obviously I want to win and that's how pretty much everybody in this 450 class is. So, it’s something, like I said, it's going to keep me motivated, but definitely—I feel like I said—I made progress on this outdoors season and even if it wasn't what I wanted, I made progress so I can hold my hat on that."

Disclosure, I'm a Jett fan, but I don't wear the blinders to what Eli can and will do.

Yeah Jett is very consistent. He's finishes 1st consistently. Lol let's give in some races before we pull the e-brake. A1 summary, Eli is done, Jett is going undefeated, and the announcing sucks

What do you think that Sexton would have said if Jett was not around and Sexton won the races he raced?.
He also said that he felt that the pace was higher in 23 than 22.

we will see what happen, i just think it’s interesting how people can be so sure about Tomacs speed when he clearly lacked just speed in 23 sx and what you americans love to call ”beast mode” never showed up.

And when i say he lacked speed = was not the fastest on track. And the bar for being fastest on track have been raised in 24.

Eli and Webb might have a chance at second or third if they stay consistent.

What do you think he'd say? The pace was slower than last year when I still couldn't win the championship? Good God man.

Every generation raises the bar from what was considered “best” by the generation before them.

Webb passed and beat Jett in a heat race where raw speed usually triumphs. Anderson is old as dirt been racing Eli most his life...was not far behind Jett most the race and holding back Webb (another old guy)...You mention Chase as a barometer for Eli...who by the way was way behind the three upfront.... Eli knows these guys and knows he can beat them regardless of last nights performance. Make no mistake. With that in mind....do you still say he's one foot out racing for 6th? Nah. Lots of Magic left in that guy-

Same with Kenny...#teamsilverbacks

Bingo. Well put 👍🏻.

Unfortunately I don’t see Eli winning a race this year. What I do want to see from Eli is if the rumours are true about him retiring him going out happy. I will never get bored of Eli beast mode. He’s going to leave a legacy and he should be pumped with that alone.

I thought he'd at least top five I have to admit but it is round one so no big deal I suppose. We will know after a couple more weeks if there is a problem besides Jett having the field covered.

The Tomac train is in panic mode. 10th place and his main rival walked away with a win….

I know, it's not like Eli is a 2 time SX, champ or is the 2nd most winning SX rider of all time, he is a washed up, wannabe joke of a rider!

Eli was very disappointing. He is my favorite rider. That main was hard to watch. We started seeing his decline last year. But somehow I convinced myself that he was going to be the old Eli this year.

At least he milked a few more million dollars from Star.

You started to see a decline in a year where he would have won the title, had it not been for a freak injury?
