No matter what happens from here on out, Jett has etched his name in History with some pretty impressive Firsts! in his relatively short career. It took James Stewart 3 races to get his first win and RC 15, so Jett is in the rare company of some of the greatest riders in SX/MX history. I really hope the rest of the field steps up and puts the Boots to Jett Lawrence and make it an exciting series, but we all should be happy to be witnessing the career beginnings of what looks like the next generational rider that people will still be talking about 50 years from now. Can't wait til San Francisco SX, because last night was damn fun and that's what it's all about.

Took 21 races for RC to win his first 250/450 SX race.
You're right, I saw it wrong.
He rode SMX in 450, he is not a rookie but the story is great for the Lawrence brothers show. Roczen did it before him.
3 SMX races make him not an AMA SX rookie?

Roczen didn't.
josh grant and damon bradshaw if im not mistaken did this, feld just trying to hype up jett even more than he already is,
Roczen didn't win his first 450 main
Both raced the year before
There is Supercross(SX), Motocross(MX),and SuperMotocross(SMX). He is a rookie at Supercross(SX). He is NOT a rookie in Motocross (MX)or SuperMotocross (SMX).
Is that dumbed down enough to understand.
Can't really figure out if the mighty Feld/Lawrence marketing machine is trying to make us love them or hate them?
It's definitely oversaturation
I'm talking about this being Jett's first Anaheim 1 race in the premier class, so that does make him a rookie for that particular event.
Everyone considered Roczen as a rookie in the class in 2014. EVERYONE.
The stat is not about being a "rookie". But about winning a 450 main on a very first try. When Roczen won, it simply wasn't the case.
On joue un peu sur les mots là mais je comprends.
Maybe considered it his rookie season yes but it wasn't his first race in that class👍
Marty Tripes was a 16 year old (just barely) rookie riding his first Supercross when he won the 1st Superbowl of Motocross in 1972. I'm sure Feld doesn't count that because they cooked the stats book to hype up Jett...but Marty was the first.
I wouldn't count it either if I was racing a track that kids on 50's could have raced on.
Without out those tracks and riders, there wouldn't be Supercross today. Just because you don't like the history doesn't mean you get to ignore it.
Pit Row
I know exactly what you meant. This was the first AMA 450 sx race of his career and he won it. He's the only rider in history to do that. Period
The GOAT is on borrowed time .
Actually the 50s raced last night on the same track. It’s called the KTM juniors.
There’s no point to this stat anymore and comparing Jett to MC is unfair. MC (and RC for that matter) experienced their first professional gate drops in the premier class at A1. That’s a true rookie. RD raced MXoN on an 450 and then straight to SX. Everyone out here pretending like this wasn’t Jett’s 33rd points paying gate drop on a 450 (not even counting the Paris SX). Jett’s a rookie like a 3rd year redshirt is a “freshman”. Not the same.
Okay, so if it's not Jett... Which rider(s) currently holds this stat?
The list of riders that have won their first AMA 450 (250 2T) SX race:
1:
He always has been, Jett or somebody else will eventually take his crown.
MC raced a 250 several times in 92…
On a sweet Team Peak CR250 too
Let's ignore the rookie definition ppl are hung up on.
Jett has 1 career 450 sx race an that was last night. It was his 450sx debut.
Guys like roczen n grant. It was there rookie season but not there debut race.
I don't know why this is a debate.
Jett has 1 race 1 win in his career.
Did Josh Grant not win Anaheim in his rookie debut on the Gibbs Yamaha, with a haybale cover not tuffblock, stuck in his rear wheel?????
He raced a 450 in 2008
I’ve said it on a previous post but I’ll say it again. Scratch the word “rookie”. And look at the word “DEBUT”.
it was his 1st ever “450 AMA SUPERCROSS” race. There are 3 completely seperate entities in pro ama racing. Why is this so fucking hard for people to understand. Ffs
