A very polite public indeed. Laws like that are probably what Africa needs. Our thieves, burglars and armed robbers in Africa are draconian if you are unlucky enough to walk in on them whilst they are in your house.

My friend's dad was shot dead, his mother was repeatedly rapped and sodomised during a home invasion/robbery.

These guys are sitting in prison at our, the tax payers expense. That's fucking bullshit in my books.

Rabid dogs like that need to be put down.    Period.

I mean lets face it cutting off limbs is never going to float in any decent "civilized" society and it's utterly ridiculous to seriously suggest it.

Magoofan I know you are a passionate person and I appreciate that but IMO it's not realistic.

But at the same time (and while never personally affected yet) I am frustrated by laws that give the perps the literal slap on the wrist we are all tired of hearing about.

Eg...The Aussie state I live in is continuously raising the legal age of criminal responsibility...14 years old in 2027 will be the age if I'm correct.  Will be mayhem day and night.

Sorry not a topic that I'm a fan of but posted anyway.

I don't know about bike thefts at amateur races but in general, I am of the opinion that legislation/deterrents/punishments, while necessary, will remain insufficient to reign in the trajectory of "anything goes behavior", as long as American identity, values and social structures remain diluted. I think we've lost sight of a certain unified cultural fabric that promotes self-restraint and makes people feel proud to be part of the same "tribe". Americans no longer seem to be part of a singular apple-pie eating tribe. I think those western societies/cultures that have maintained a very strong sense of identity, tend to hold themselves to a higher standard. Obviously such an argument doesn't apply to impoverished places where despair and hunger drive desperate acts of crime (El Salvador for example). But the US is a wealthy country and should therefore seek solutions by observing the successes of its counterparts in the west. Is Denmark's low crime rate the result of tough penalties? Iceland? Norway? Why is little Slovakia safer than France? Is it legislation/penalties?

We used to cut peoples intestines out of them while they were still alive and burn people on bonfires in public squares and it didn't stop crime.

Maybe there is another way?

It really sucks that fucker had a kid. "Here ya go go little dude this is your Dad good luck" !  How's that little guy supposed to have a normal life with that D-bag for a dad. Talk about starting out life with a handicap, poor kid he didn't ask to have a lowlife for a Dad. At a bare minimum the punishment should be to take all of his shit, auction it off and give the money to the victims he stole from. See how he fucking likes it. And then castrate the mother fucker, fuck cutting his hand off, why make him unproductive ? cut his fucking nuts off to guarantee he doesn't create another human to fuck up. And get that kid adopted out to a normal couple.  I'm sure the liberal brigade in here will say I'm a monster but actually I just want a better future for my grandkids. That gene pool needs to end. I really don't give a shit what happens to him, but I pray his kid is somehow able to lead a normal caring life and realize that stealing from others and fucking over your fellow humans is wrong. I have zero sympathy for that guy and thinking what he's putting his kid through pisses me off. No kid deserves that for a parent. Period.

Agreed.

Big problem in this country is, the wrong people are breeding at an exponential rate.

It's been going on now for a few generations.

Consequences don't totally eliminate crime but it's a bizarre take to think there's no correlation between lack of consequences and crime. Even if it's only because the same small number of people commit most of the crime, if those people spend more time locked up, there's less of them free to commit more crime.

No developed society is going to start mutilating people, but the number of violent crimes you get to commit before you rot and die in prison is a very small number IMO. The number for property crimes against individuals isn't much larger. I also wouldn't lose an ounce of sleep dropping someone who comes onto my property for any nefarious purpose including taking things. My family gets to live in peace without worrying about being violated like that, sorry not sorry. If you think stealing is only about property, you have no idea what you're talking about and must have lived a pretty charmed life.

On the very rare occasions where something was stolen at a motocross race, I think we all presumed it was someone sneaking into the track under darkness- and rolling bikes or equipment into a truck. Now to find out it’s one of us, in a motor-home (?), “ a fellow motocrosser” actually comes across as quite a shock. I used to believe 99% of motocross people were fine citizens, officially7D3BB3D5-2C8F-42C2-95F9-3690F21B6499.jpeg?VersionId=rJtgBlP.4TCp1Hi8cB31g dropping that back to 92%. Sign of the vicious times. Be vigilant, Moto freaks. *And props to dude that used his smarts to nail this vermin.

Back on topic...surely someone is cross-referencing additional tracks/races they have been to and thefts at those tracks, if any? Haven't heard of any recently but there were a handful of at track thefts in NC last year. Hard to not wonder if it's someone on the "inside".

I remember the days when you could leave your pit with everything out and go enjoy the other races.  Motorhomes, trucks, trailers... all left open and unlocked.  Nobody touched anything.  If they did, it was to borrow a tool that they brought back immediately when they were done or a soda/beer out of your cooler.  It's a shame this is becoming more and more of a problem.

The little fat moto dad who kicked the young kids' bike and this thief should be forced to battle to the death at the next armature race.

Bad and good apples everywhere. I broke my Shoulder blade the first day of a two day sprint enduro earlier this year. I left my bike with another family I just met at their camper instead of leaving at mine unattended while I was at the hospital till 10pm then they wheeled it back over to mine when we got back and our other neighbors helped me and my wife load up the bike and camper the next morning.

In all of our years of racing, we never locked our motorhome or trailer, never took the key out of the golf cart. Pressure washer was out all weekend. Only had to hide the beer ice chest. Surely this dude won’t have the balls to show up at another race.

It is sad that some people in this world are irredeemable, but it is a fact, always will be. Perhaps it is vanity in some of us as humans that other humans can't possibly be evil, or totally bad. The bad of us are a reflection upon all of us in a way, of what we are capable of. Man's inhumanity to his fellow man is a recurring story of our existence. No amount of punishment, "deterrent", handouts, or social programs can change inherently bad people. To some people getting over on someone else, getting away with something, hurting others is what makes them tick. As much as helping others and sacrifice make others tick. History shows human nature is not consistent amongst individuals. It is up to our leaders and government to protect the civilized from the monsters, and a method to that has yet to be perfected that pleases all, law enforcement is a relatively new science in human history. Complicating matters, over and over, is that many individuals that are drawn to leadership roles amongst us are the very type of people we need protection from. Unethical leaders promising "safety", "fairness", & "what you deserve", things that don't really exist. In the end this trash who stole at the races will have to answer to his maker someday, as all of us will. Perhaps evil is in this world to make all of us appreciate the good so much more, or to temper our resolve to not be that way?

There ya go.  I have family members I would never allow in my house or near my kids...and some of those are big church folks.

Thankfully, I was also lucky to have some real saints in the mix.

I have no idea what makes people evil...nature or nurture?  All I do know is evil exists and a lot of folks embrace it.

It's the reason Black Friday had a record amount of background checks for handgun purchases.   Our leaders have won the "firearms sales person award" of the century.

You better be able to protect yourself and your family these days....relying on the government will get you dead.

I watched a video years back about a guy who was setting up porch-pirates with packages that had cameras in them and they would throw a bunch of confetti....something like that, I forget all the details.       In one part of the video, scumbag parents had their little kid involved and were instructing him.

People like this should be mandatorily sterilized.

He could have easily been lying to his family, saying he was just working on it for someone, or maybe that he bought one that needed work, something like that. Odds are the wife's spidey sense would be tingling, but who knows if she was there, or if she even exists. All we know for sure is that someone named Drew Scott Johnson got arrested for grand theft and altering VIN's, oh and half of Vital wants to cut his hands off lol.

My wife would have no clue if I was stealing bikes and stuff.

shit, I bought a crf110 at mini o’s this year she doesn’t even know about Probaly lol

A little off topic but Gatorback theft related -- I'm thinking about going there in January for a vintage race. Not sure if I will camp or stay at a hotel nearby. I seem to remember hearing about bikes being stolen there another time in the not-too-distant past. Has this been an issue other than this guy? I was also considering renting a U-Haul trailer and staying in a hotel - are there hotel areas (Alachuca or Gainesville) that people prefer where they feel okay parking a U Haul overnight? (Assuming it is also locked and preferably backed up to something like a wall or light pole!)

Armed dirt bike theft few years back at Hard Rock MX in Ocala.  That's why there's always a handgun in my toolbox.

I think perhaps you didn't read my entire post. I specifically stated leadership roles often attract those that we need protection from. I think we can all agree this is irrefutable and compounds efforts to fight crime when our very own leaders are often criminals themselves.

I think perhaps you didn't read my entire post. I specifically stated leadership roles often attract those that we need protection from. I think we can all agree this is irrefutable and compounds efforts to fight crime when our very own leaders are often criminals themselves.
