The question is not whether you like him or not, but is he good for the sport?

I just saw the clip with Deano and can’t see any situation in Arenacross where that wouldn’t happen when the leader swings that wide in a bowl turn. Yes, Friese is involved with these a lot but that was almost a written invitation.

Yeah and Deano said that was fine... It's everything else that went on.

The issue with Friese is death by a thousand paper cuts.

any one of his incidents can be explained away or compared to the “old school” era and how everyone now is soft.

but when you add them all together, it’s bad lol

Good for spectators for drama.  Bad for other riders because of injury.  I say the latter is more important.

Good for the sport? Hell no.

Good for WSX? For sure, absolutely.

who cares really. Seriously that track was a complete joke, it was so tight and poorly laid out a normal AX track looked like a SX race in a football stadium. Those guys are in a different league than Friese and should have been able to pass him … except they couldn’t so quit the crying about it and except the results that were earned.

Think he broke Braytons hand at Dayton in 2020 after torpedoing into him

Also this could have been reeeaally ugly. Craig was lucky to stand up after that.

Based on the poll.... 70% of you would not have done well in the 1970's/80's.....

Looks like it's Friese week in the "lynching" pool.        Vital gotta hate on someone.

I was annoyed by his riding and angry at his blatant cheating. I couldn’t believe the announcers said nothing about it. He should have been DQ’d for the night all things considered.

Stop with the tough guy 70s/80s crap. I grew up in that generation, too, and there wasn't a single top 10 guy who smashed people while going backwards like Friese does.

Depends on what you mean by good?

I would not have watched anything from WSX Abu Dhabi if it wasn't for him being a prick......

Fuck him. He's trash for the sport. What he does isn't a skill, it doesn't take talent, it just takes lack of common decency. Anyone could ride like that if they woke up tomorrow and all the shame and dignity had been removed from their person.

I agree with Sully 100% on this. The fucking guy has repeatedly put people in danger of life altering injury. This sport is NOT in the 70's/80's now. Speed of bikes, tracks, risk, all make the period you reference look like a trail ride and I raced in the 70's and 80's. The current state of the sport is so much more dangerous it isn't even funny. Did anyone cross jump another competitor on a SX triple back then? Didn't think so.

I don't care about 'his racing', I care about him ruining 'the racing' in general by being a rolling road block or wiping out half the people faster than him.

As for the rest, Sully nailed it.

*Edit. I don't mean the racing this past weekend

You are sooooooo wrong about this. What Vince does is absolutely a skill. He’s easily one of the 5 best starters in the world at any level, there’s NO ONE better at keeping someone behind them for longer than you’d expect, and he’s got just enough speed to be in the top group even without the antics. Then what happens every time someone tries to get revenge on him? They end up not being “skilled” enough to do it back to him. The only guy who ever got a clean shot that I can remember was windham, who comes from an era where bar banging was a little more common.

As much as I dislike him, he did make it quite entertaining to watch Laughing The take-outs I can kinda brush over... rubbin's racing, other riders slam all the time for passes (as long as it's not a T Bone leg breaker move).. but the break checking and holding the pack up is lame.

So getting a good start then blocking/ramming faster people is a skill now? And anyone who doesn't stoop to that level is lacking his high levels of skill.?

Maybe the night program should just be a load of continuous drag races with the riders trying to take each other down at the first corner, with the survivors then going back to the start gate, and repeat all night till all the riders are in ER and Vince can be crowned champ?

Guess you missed the part where he got punted off the track and if not for the cracker jack layout would have dropped him several positions?

Getting good starts is fine. The rest you're just wrong on. Saying he's the best at it because he's the only person willing to do it is just silly. You really don't think all the guys that clearly have more speed and bike skill than him could keep guys behind them if they developed a reputation for being dangerous and were willing to do things that most find unacceptable? Do you think the sport would be better if more riders tried to develop this "skill?" I don't.

I might have missed it, but how did he not get docked for getting blocked passed off of the track and then pulling back on in 1st?

I just listened to the post race WSX interviews, and every single rider seemed to have a problem with Vince Friese.

All i'm saying is that, when ALL RIDERS ON THE GATE are calling you a dirtbag piece of shit rider, then maybe that's just what you are, a dirtbag piece of shit rider. That type of person is no good to ANY sport.
