In the mid seventies we fit three full size bikes and gear in the back of my 1972 Datsun pickup and three of us in the cab. When that's your only option, that's what works. Now, I don't know how the hell we did it!!!
The Maverick is my goto transportation 95% of the time, 26 mpg. My poor Cummins just sits and it's 18 mpg unless I need it to haul something big and heavy.
Mini-trucks are great, but I can't live without a full-size van for motocross racing.

I picked up this 1992 Toyota last year and fixed it up over the winter.
It's all original with 154k and looks great with my 1990 KX in the back.
I had a 2022 Maverick AWD with the eco boost. But I sold it for $5k more than I bought it for. But... I ordered a 2024 hybrid base model which, if you believe the message boards, get around 45-50 mpg.
So IF I ever get my new one I will report on it but I really liked my XLT AWD

Certainly recommend the Moto-Gate, use it when me and my wife are both riding and using the truck. Hell these Mavericks don't look much smaller than two bikes in a 5.5 foot full size bed lol. I can easily fit one bike at a diagonal in the bed but two bikes have to run this setup.
I believe you could get close to that from a hybrid.
One of my customers has the SUV (is that the explorer?) that appears to be on the same / similar chassis and he says he gets 42mpg with it.
All the people reporting on the message boards are claiming 45-55 mpg!!
I actually had my order for 2023 but Ford pushed it to a 2024. The base model hybrid is the one they are not making enough of (as it is the one that has the smallest profit margin!(.
So crossing my fingers I actually get the '24.
We race moto...we don't care about mileage..
That is a beauty man, nice find 👍
When one of our AE86's go to a new home, there might well be a Hilux in its place.
I'm finishing off putting a big turbo VW 1.8T into a dirty ol' '01 Ford Ranger with a 7ft bed this winter to haul the bikes with a little more pace next summer 😂
The SUV version is the Escape Hybrid. I have one. Unloaded I'm averaging 45-48 MPG. Just did a 1900 mile road trip to Diamond Don's Vintage National a couple of weeks ago with my Ossa Phantom on a hitch carrier and got right at 38 MPG running 75-80 on mostly interstates. Probably could have easily bumped it up to 40+ MPG if I had run 65-70 MPH.
I hate driving a trucks but i drive Silverado because i need it for work. If i had my choice i would rather pull my bikes with a car . Sometimes I use my wifes Honda Odyssey with a bike rack and thats perfect.
Some of this stuff is so funny…even Matthes is probably laughing.
I have a Colorado cause all I do is haul my bike around, but my buddy got a Maverick and it absolutely blown the fuel efficiency of my truck out of the water. On the highway I can get around 9L/100KM, versus the Mav at 5.8L/100KM. It's my next truck. I was considering a Ridgeline as well but they are too similar to my 22 Colorado. I love my truck but it's really bad on gas in the city.
Fuel is around 1.70 per L here. Around 6.50/Gallon
I went from a Ridgeline to an F-150 4x4 Supercab. My gas mileage increased by about 3-4 mpg and my towing capacity doubled. The Ridgeline can't compare to an Ecoboost equipped Ford.
Your driving patterns must be way different than mine. I’ve average 26mpg with my Ridgeline lifetime so far of about 65k miles.
Just like the Honda Ridgeline. Back wheel fits by like an inch. I didn’t think it would fit either.
Was interested in one when they were introduced, $22K MSRP with 40ish MPG? Hell yeah. Welp, I didn’t jump on it quick enough, and now Autotrader is flooded with “used” ones with less than 100 miles on them, selling for $30-40K.
So I’m still driving my ‘09 V6 Sport Trac… a compact truck that gets the shitty MPG of a full-size, lol
I sold a 2015 F150 with just over 90k for $34,000 a few months ago
Pit Row
How's the interior quality on these? Decently quiet on the highway? I drive a ton-like 65k miles a year as a sales rep and I pay expenses so I've thought about one of these. I wonder if they make a cap for the bed as that would be handy for me too. I just can't handle driving something that has a ton of wind noise and crap seats etc. Currently driving a little Lexus hatchback hybrid but this might make more sense if it really gets 40ish going 75-80.
Decently quiet but I feel the finish is “cheap” and that is on the lariat trim level. Too much plastic
