I figured Honda and Suzuki paid out bonus money per moto. If that’s not the case, then this just makes Jett look stupid and not nice for giving Roczen extra bonus money. And if Roczen is angry about it, that makes it more stupid for putting a motivational fire under Roczen’s butt with his words…. something Jett has been so good about not doing….until now. One of the things I like about Jett is how he always has his competitions back. He complements them, gives them props and says how well they were riding….right after he smoked em!
Yes…because he is your god. No way Jett slowing down was not on purpose. He could never start to get tired or tighten up late in a race on a rough track…. your god could never start to get arm pump….even running MX suspension and bottoming out on some SX style jumps. Your god could never get held to a pace on a rough track that made him worry that he was pushing a little too hard to be safe and not go down. Of course your god could never feel pressure to continue to show he is the fastest when another top rider is having a great day. He allows them to get close to witness his glory. A god so benevolent and kind that he forfeits wins to new fathers and showers baby gifts on mere mortals. Of course the only reason he slowed and gracefully let Kenny by is because your god meant to in his great plan. Other mortals have all those reasons they may slow…but not your god. He is perfect and could run fast laps for eternity under any and all circumstances and conditions with any bike setup on every MX and SX track ever built, or ever to be built!. From now until eternity know that if your god slows…it was part of a great plan because he was fast all summer so he could always be fast forever. He could never try to hide that another rider had him covered that moto with a lame excuse because another rider could never have god covered…and math is hard…even for god. God can not be passed unless he wills it. To suggest otherwise is blasphemy. Be not the blasphemer! Praise your god! Can I get an Amen?!!

The Peacock broadcast caught Jett getting off his bike and talking to his mechanic at the podium staging area.
He tells his mechanic he let him "bye", nothing was wrong with the bike. The mechanic says he's glad that's what happened, they were confused AF and didn't understand, and Jett confidently said "Lose a position, gain some points. I'll take that".
Straight from the horses mouth, he legit thought he was gaining championship points by letting him by. Just listen to it if you are wondering.

Well I certainly am not advocating Jett receive an honorary Master's degree in mathmatics.
Have you actually watched the post race interaction I'm referring to? I don't see how you could possibly watch that and not "bye" the theory that Jett intentionally let Kenny by, thinking he was pushing his competitors further behind in the SMX standings. Because...he literally says that immediately following the race not knowing he was near a mic. And you can hear his mechanic express his relief that it had nothing to do with the bike.
I would like to believe the bad in race math theory and at first it sounded plausible enough..... the problem is it requires you to believe that prior to the race none of this was ever discussed. For Jett to really believe what he claims, he has to also believe he came up with something in race that never crossed his team's mind prior to the race.

Hadn't thought of that. Roczen slows down and allow his buddy Chase to catch up as Jett is sleeping after letting Ken by. That would have put the race back in the race.
I'm not sure about the per moto bonuses. Might be like a heat race bonus? I wasn't thinking about that. But normally those bonuses would be paying more than the race purse prize money so it might have been a bit. But the championship bonus would most likely be a bunch bigger and that was what he said he was thinking.
It sounded cocky , but in a way , it is kinda refreshing to have a rider say stuff like that when they are thinking it. It is surprising to hear him say and do that ,when like you said he has been good about not firing guys up in the past. Other than saying he was only riding at 70-80% while winning all the outdoor motos. But he stopped saying that later in the season. I bet that Jett could go on to be an amazing promotional idea guy after he's done racing. He is great at bringing attention to stuff. If it is all him , might be a mix of family and agents mixed with Jett's personality.
As cocky as it came off, I think overall Jett is pretty humble for a 19-20 year old kid, who just had a perfect MX season in his rookie year on a 450. I doubt that many, if any people on here would have handled themselves much better at that age , after doing what Jett has been able to do so far. I don't think Kenny is going to cut him any slack, but Fans really should in my opinion. I'm excited to see next week's race even more . A fired up Kenny with 20 minute motos, and a bunch of money on the line should make for a great race.

First…that is sarcasm…not anger….and it’s more his fans and their blind worship. If you objectively watch that race from at least 3 minutes left and then read every excuse why Kenny wasn’t faster at the end then it’s sadly humorous.….although Jett trying to take legitimacy from Kenny’s victory by essentially saying it wasn’t rreeaallly a victory…I let you win….was extremely chicken shit.

Roczen caught him without Jett slowing down and Jett let him by because he didn't want to look like he can be beaten. The kid is smart, and he can play it up to points, or the baby gift BS in the process.
In this situation it was unnecessary. But it could be better in some situations.
If Kenny had finished 4th Moto 1.
Jett goes 1-1, 1st overall
Chase goes 2-3, 2nd overall
Kenny goes 4-2, 3rd overall
Jett however letting Kenny past changes this to be
Jett goes 1-2, 1st overall
Kenny goes 4-1, 2nd overall
Chase goes 2-3, 3rd overall
So there are situations where Jetts thinking can change results to his advantage. This just wasn't one of them. Because the higher finish in moto 2 already gave kenny the second overall
Considering he's racing trying to figure it out and some people can't figure it out at the best of times. His mistake isn't really THAT bad. The reasoning and thinking he had was pretty good. But he forgot to take the tie breaker into account.
Though he did say he took 2 laps to make certain it didn't effect his finish so that's something.
It's not impossible. I used to bullseye womp rats in my T-16 back home, they're not much bigger than....

This reminds me of my senior year in high school, when we voted-in the down syndrome kid for Prom King. We were stoked, he was stoked. The world was a better place for one evening.

Was there a fault with the lap timing transponders? Ken’s lap times didn’t vary up or down more than 0.5 secs for 9 laps in a row. In fact the lap where he “caught” Jett was slower than his previous four laps.
Or were you there at the race with the others claiming that the lap times didn’t tell the true story?

Make every moto matter with points being earned for individual moto scores. If you want to add to the excitement, which they are trying with this this whole SMX playoff bs, why not make every position count?
