I really don't understand that trend...

Yes, I've been on construction crews and I've never seen this. The only time you see this is specifically on people who don't work outside.

Cute idea though.

I started doing it because I worked outside, then the whole crew started doing it. I’m 56 and still do it out of habit.

I’m not sure why people hate it, but I don’t understand why people worry about what other people wear.

I've never heard of anyone having a problem with authentic cowboy hats and western wear, even if worn driving through the city.  Although in the last year or so I've had people keep ask me if I watch Yellowstone, and I have no idea what they are talking about.  I guess it's a popular western show and maybe that's why there now seems to be this focus on Western wear?  I'm not sure, but cowboy hats and western wear are standard for me at the ranch or anywhere near horses.  I just spent 30hrs on horseback and I would have gotten fried if I didn't wear my hat.

AP gets some press wearing a cowboy hat.  My guess he’s probably always wore one, lived in rural area farm or ranch etc.

Saw a pic or commercial with Bam Bam wearing a cowboy hat the other day.

When I was a teenager Brad Lackey worn a straw cowboy hat all the time.  We tried to copy the look but we failed.  Heck back in Oklahoma everybody wore cowboy hats.  We just blended in.

Here in Texas it’s not uncommon to see guys at the track with cowboy hats.   Lot of blue collar guys that work out wear straw cowboy hats.  I’ve worn one in the summer outside most of my life.  I wear one at the track, straw hats work good in Texas sun.

How many of you moto guys be rockin the cowboy hat look.  I’m surprised ya don’t get one when ya buy a KTM!  Will the hat look catch on in Motocross.

As someone from Texas who has worked on a ranch and has family involved with ranching and livestock I have to say AP's corny fake azz...

As someone from Texas who has worked on a ranch and has family involved with ranching and livestock I have to say AP's corny fake azz felt cowboy hat is lame af. At least get a good straw cowboy hat for the summer. More importantly, AP is from Hamilton, Ohio- located in a county that has 400,000 people and is nothing more than a suburb of the 2.2 million person Cincinnati metro. There is nothing cowboy about where he is from, it is just (1) a marketing move and (2) a way to cover up his quickly receding hairline. He is just basically using it as a costume which is lame af.

Any real rancher or ranch hand knows a cowboy wears a baseball cap from the local ford or chevy or deere dealer, wearing a cowboy hat maybe only to church, if at all.

I have noticed with AP's long hair/Mullett thing with his receding hairline he'll pretty soon be sporting a Scullett LOLscullett

This is the look they should be going for, if they want to wear a hat.

As a Non-American, cowboy hats look kinda silly. It's like seeing civilians wearing combat gear to go to Walmart. But then again, we've got some pretty silly hats as well so I can't talk.

In case you missed it, a fan asked AP in the press conference where he could buy a cowboy hat.  AP said he's got something in the works and you'll able to buy one soon.  It sounds like AP is either starting his own line or collaborating with a company like Stetson to make an AP model cowboy hat to sell.

I think it’s silly as hell too.  But you see alot of guys where en them in Tx.  Only saw people riding horses once in Tx. And I lived in Pecos the home of the 1st rodeo.  It’s about as natural as someone in the ne wearing a powder wig or a Indian wearing a head dress of feathers. Haha it’s hey Buddy you been out roping calf’s or tending fence.

Yeah, I’d say a guy with a really tall furry hat down over his eyes with a bayonet on a rifle with no bullets is kinda funny!  All in good fun!!!

It is what it is...an effective piece of protective equipment or a fashion statement.  Depends on the person.
