You are correct, I am hoping Renthal come out with some soon.

Yes, me too!

Any suggestions for a kx500 that vibrates like a jackhammer. I’ve gone all year without blisters on my 250 and four moto’s at Farleigh have torn my hands to pieces.F5A9D226-109C-40AE-A8B2-E9AE2E91B992

I don't think I can tell the difference. I'm more of a stickler over the compound than anything - I like soft. I run the renthal soft compound half waffle grips if I go regular, but I also use the ODI V2 half waffle lock-ons in the soft grey version which I enjoy. I don't think I will ever buy the regular compound lock-ons because they seem too firm.

Renthal medium compound, gray grips, drop a nickel n the grip before you put it on

small amount of hairspray makes it slide on and stick to the bar. If you’re really anal, you can safety wire it with some stainless wire.

Hairspray has worked since the decades old BMX days, if you need something quick. But I always used Renthal grip glue and 2-3 wires.

Spray paint is an option also.

I’ve always used spray paint, works great..

I would guess you have an aftermarket rod and piston and your crank needs to have the balance factor corrected.
My KX has OE internals and while it vibrates, it's really not bad.

I made my own clamps with modern KX450F bar mount rubber cones in them.
The forks are KYB from a YZ250 with firmer valving and springs.
That old 1990 KX500 is a comfortable easy chair.

I have Pro Taper Evo SX Race bend with ODI Emig V1 grips on it.

Love the convenience of lock on but going back to renthal soft Kevlar grips is where it’s at, so much better.

ODI Rogues for life. Will never go back to anything else.

Torc1 lock on grips, best grips I've ever used hands down.  I know grips are always personal preference.  But I love Torc1's lock ons.  Its all I buy now.  Similar to Pro Taper pillow tops but are lock on.  The Pro Taper lock on's are too skinny for my liking - they work great but are too skinny for my preference.  For similar feel to Pro Taper Pillow tops, Torc1 lock ons are great.

If you want something close to Pro Taper Pillow tops (for larger hands) in a lock on, go with the Torc1 lock on grips (Shown on page 1 of this thread).  They are the same diameter as Pillow tops and have a similar feel and cushion to Pro Taper pillow top.  Love mine.

I run the odi soft half waffles now and love them. On my off-road bikes in the wet with the ends cut off for bark busters the glue and wire approach would give me grief.

I recently ordered a bunch of different grips to try out and I decided to go away from the half waffle style. I really like the pro taper soft full diamond with the thinnest gloves I can find. Scott sx2 is a close second, just wish they came in a solid color

i also stopped running donuts because the insides of my thumbs don’t really touch them much

I forgot about the Scott SX-2 grip.  I like them and ran them for a long time because they were slim and comfortable like the Pro Taper and Renthal full diamond grips.

I ran the donuts for "Yamathumb" until I changed my bar bend and corrected my technique several years ago.

It’s a good sticky grip. The faster a grip wears down, the more I like the feel normally

I put odi lock on v2 grips on my bike and thought they were comfy and had no issues. I changed them for renthal full waffle soft. Can’t tell a difference in vibration but one thing that i hate about glue on grips is how much fatter my throttle tube is then the left grip. Does anyone know if theres a throttle tube that’s slimmer then stock? Bike is a 23 crf450

It’s a 87 with conventional forks and original clamps. I have to keep it fairly original to stay compliant with pre 89 rules.
engine is all standard but I do have a set of twin walls on it and wonder if that’s transmitting more of the buzz to my hands.

Same here. Been running these on all my bikes for years.  I do not have a problem with vibration.   Best grip I have ever found for large hands.

I use theese but the grey soft ones on the left side of my handlebar. I get a lot less pain in my left hand with these compared to thinner grips. Tried several thinner ones both glue and lock ons the last eight years or so but my left hand get very sore.. I ride a lot, 3-5 times a week. But the thicker Rogue ones helps a lot.
