If I posted this before I claim getting my bell rung and can’t remember lol.
It finally started to cool off. Today was out first day under a 100 degrees in about three months. Time to go to the track along with a new scooter in the garage I want to ride. Dr told me on Tuesday I can’t ride for three more weeks, got a concussion and neck banged up from a car wreck. Dr used to ride and said don’t take a chance on hitting the ground, he said it would get a lot worse.
What happed was Beta dealer called the other day said my new 300 RX came in. Went to bank to get a cashiers check. Was leaving the bank and got hit.
My left had is still banged up from trying to pull my finger off back in June, but getting a little better. On top of that my bike carrier was on the back of my Tahoe. It got smashed/sheared in two pieces. I have to rig another carrier up. SUV that hit me from behind ended up totaled with my bike hitch carrier smashed in the grill. Ain’t been my time lately. Anybody else’s having a run of bad luck and can’t ride.
I got busted up racing 6 weeks ago…grade 2 AC tear and elbow surgery…. Another summer laid up 👎… I”m building a bike to keep me from going crazy…been doing my own rehab for the last 2 weeks..hopefully get back to riding in October….
Nursing a broken scaphoid and separated shoulder. Concussion and broken ribs all healed up. 8 weeks lame so far.
I hope you guys get healed up. It’s not fun being laid up. My little bumps are nothing compared to you guys. I got frustrated not cause I couldn’t ride my new scooter but had a few of days kinda in a daze and couldn’t sleep. Can’t keep up with my truck keys to start with had a little bit of short term memory loss. That’s what the dr called it. I waited a week before I’m went to the doctor, knew there wasn’t anything they could do. This head ache will go away when it goes away. Haven’t been able to sleep more than 4-5 hours a night, some nights only three in almost two weeks. Dang sore neck and head ache that comes and goes.
Shattered my ulna in July, no pics of the plate and 8 screws. Got the cast off last week hopefully be riding in a month

Not laid up, but the doctor did just pull this rock out of my arm from a mountain bike crash 7 years ago!
Went down pretty hard 3 weeks ago, bike crushed my leg, might have ripped my foot off if it wasn't for boots. Knew my leg was toast but tried getting up anyway and my foot was just dangling, nasty shit. I do concrete and am so fucking ready to get back on my feet. Had to buy a guitar again so I don't go crazy lol.
You did that up good. I f…..ked my left index finger up and haven’t been able to fully bend it for 3 months. I tried to play guitar a few weeks back, I could not bend my finger to hit a cord with a gun to my head. I’ve been bored to tears between being beat up and 110 degree days. I’ve ate everything in site, gained a ton of weight, bought one or more of everything to be bought online. I’ve bought two complete new Seats for 2024 Beta I’ve had for one week today LOL. Bought a guts racing seat for the track and a Seats Concepts comfort seat for trails etc for a scooter I haven’t rode yet. I’ve bought enough oil, I’ll never need to buy oil ever again! I am bored to tears.
Hope it wasn’t your fault. If it wasn’t you should get reimbursed for all your loses to include motoing.
Broke my proximal humerus 4 wks ago. Got a good bit of TI holding me together now 😂 . Still sore enough. Was crazy sore when I did it. I ve broke loads of bones and done ACL s . This latest one was way more painful
I've ridden a few times since my grade 3 AC. Damn 500 feels like its trying to pull my arm off.
Even after all the physical therapy and strength conditioning, it just didn't feel right and always felt like I was hanging on for the ride instead of controlling it.
I sold it. Not sure what I'm going to do yet but I could tell that I wasn't at 100% but kept riding anyway and couldn't stop myself. I knew it would cause another wreck. First time I've never had a bike since I was 7.
Nearly 3 months since my broken collarbone and separated ac joint. Just waiting on some parts for my bike to arrive so i can ride. Surgeon told me 3 months before I can get back on the bike.
Broke my femur right at the top near the hip clear back in late December of 2022. I’m 57, so unfortunately I haven’t ridden again yet. Now that the 3 straight months of miserable heat is starting to leave my part of the country, I’m hopeful I can get back to riding sometime this fall and winter. I’m out of shape & have been busy with work, need to start some cardio & training before I attempt to track ride. With this injury I’m a little worried I could re-injure it in a crash. If anyone else has had this let me know if you’ve gone back to riding.
I know back in the day Trey Canard broke his femur twice. I believe both were at Washougal
Dislocated left shoulder resulting in massive rotator cuff tear with full-thickness, full width tear affecting the supraspinarus, infraspinatus, subscapularis and bicep tendon. I’m currently 4 months post op and hoping to be released end of October.
I broke my tib/fib and ankle May 2nd riding at a private track. Tib was a compound fracture. Surgery, a few screws and a rod in my tib.
8 weeks non weight bearing due to the broken ankle. I 66 so that doesn't help, but my ortho said being very fit helped me.
Went back last week for x rays. He said it all looks good and I can pretty much do whatever I can tolerate. Although he said don't do any thing crazy. lol Probably meant riding.
Luckily I'm in sales and could continue to work. Sitting around watching tv all day drives me crazy. Thank god we have a Peloton so I could at least do cardio. This is the first time I haven't been running for more than a few days in 42 years. Being injured definitely tests you physically and mentally, especially when you like to stay active.
This is second nasty wreck inside a year. The thing I noticed the most about getting hurt when you’re older is how important sleep is for recovery.
I’ve also realized when I’m over it for the season I need to stop riding as much. The last 2 winters/springs & early summer I’ve rode more than I ever have and when July/August rolls around I’m over it.
Dam… some gnarly injuries… I”m 56 years old..starting to feel stupid telling people I race Mx…old guys just can’t hit the ground without getting hurt….
Pit Row
Got cross rutted Friday during open practice at Aztalan (vet series weekend) and somehow got pitched into the woods and hit a tree. Rung my bell a little and compressed my neck. Had me questioning if I need to be racing anymore..decided not to race which sucks because I been working up to this race weekend all summer..
Anyways, neck is a little sore, but much better today.
Grade 5 AC separation and repair 6 weeks ago. Also did some ribs and distal clavicle at the same time. I just got out of a sling and can start to rehab the AC. Been thinking a lot about my choice of hobbies lately, lol. Misery loves company it seems in this thread. Good luck all.
Someone mention above the older ya get the more it hurts when ya hit the ground. That is an absolute fact!!!
Broke mine in February of 2000, two surgeries, age 35. Was back riding in 5 months...haven't "raced" since, but track days with my buds takes care of my addiction.
Truth
My 10 year old son hurt his arm July 25. Hard cast for 6 weeks. Got it off Wednesday. Now it's Sunday. We are now 6 1/2 week later and he just rode his bike yesterday. Says no pain and just weak from losing the muscle in the cast. Just some limited mobility with rotating palm to the sky with arm flat on a table. Hoping that comes back with some therapy. Question tho. I'm wondering if I should get a second opinion. They didn't plate or put screws in saying kids bones will remodel. I just wonder if the radius can 'remodel' this much?
Original Break:
6 Weeks later:
Past couple years id ride a few times before Daytona, ride some practice days, race vet fesr, then be done. This year since i separated my shoulder in that last moto in Daytona, I haven't ridden since. Tried to let it heal on its own. Now I'm fat af again but got the itch to ride about the time my bikes were stolen. Shoulders still not perfect but id say 95% and i can draw my bows back.
I’m 45 and had total knee replacement over two years ago. Still trying to get the muscles in that leg bigger. Also dealing with a partially torn rotator cuff.
Week four with a sprained knee after dabbing my foot like an idiot when I got out of shape on a jump. Can pretty much walk normally now, straighten it out ok and stability feels like it's coming back. Still feels 'tight' when bending it so limiting myself on recovery to cycling and bodyweight squats etc. Hopefully another week or two I can think about getting back on the bike...
Compared to some of you guys I think I'm pretty lucky!
Snapped my Femur back in March. Still on the recovery, amazes me how week my whole quad/glute complex turned into meat tube. Hope all yall dealing with rehabbing those injures are doing well, consistency with PT seems to be the key for me.
I crashed on 29th of april this year. Broke scapula, two ribs, collarbone, rung my bell a bit and bruised my lung. The collarbone required surgery, so they put K-wire into it.
I got the wire removed at the end of the june, the healing process of the collarbone did not go as planned and I was set for another surgery unfortunately. Before the 2nd surgery, the bone looked like partially broken/bend branch
with a marks of necrosis.
I'm on the couch right now, 4 days post surgery. Plate and couple of screws hold it together now. 4,5 months after the crash I'm still on the recovery route, but cannot wait to be back 😎 Speedy recovery to everybody.
Rotator Cuff Surgery in April. I did some trail riding but it is taking forever to get my strength back.
