Look like this bike has all the bells and whistles with launch control, traction control and what ever else they added. I hate to guess how much this bike is going to cost.
Does anybody know where the hell Evan Ferry has been all year?
Its absolutely mind blowing the amount of people proclaiming its a KTM carbon copy because of the engine cases looking similar, and admittedly (from what we can see so far at least) some very KTM group-esque bodywork design. But considering the majority of the important components are starkly different than a KTM I'm not sure how people can claim its a copy. Then again, a large amount of users claimed the current gen Honda was a "japanese KTM" when they saw it simply because of bodywork and throttle cable routing as well so I guess its pretty hard to not be considered a KTM copy nowadays...

To be fair at least one of them consistently produces many of the most retarded takes on Vital so there’s that
Damn Triumph and their clever marketing ploys...
First they suck me in with the Street Triple, then a damn Speed Triple! Bad enough, I want one of those gawd-awful Tigers.. Suffice to say, they've got my number now, and at this point I'm just a fanboi. I, in all likelihood, will own one of these. Call me a sucker, I even love the black...
Really, what have I got to lose?
"Really, what have I got to lose?"
The wife?
Pair that with them mentioning how each frame is completely hand welded... It's gonna be the vet rider's dream machine.
I think he may have raced a couple of Futures races on a Yamaha, then he went 9/32/DNS on a GasGas at Loretta's. Other than that, like Mav said, he's probably just been testing the hell out of the Triumph the rest of the time.
I just want to point out that I completely called it that just because they were “releasing a riding video” didnt mean we were gonna be able to actually see the bike. As I said above I learned the first go around that unless they specifically say they are going to show clear unadulterated shots of the bike in full, then dont expect that thats what were gonna get.
I went through the entire video frame by frame and there isnt a single instance where you can get a complete and clear shot of the bike from the side profile. At this point we have a pretty good idea, but its still not clear exactly what the shrouds and other bits look like together. They're obviously doing it on purpose, but damn when are we gonna just get a high res pic of the bike from the side angle? This time they didnt mention what theyre showing next, or when, so now do we just wait until the official promo material comes along when the bike is actually going up for sale? There was no mention of anything coming next in 2 weeks like there has been.
I mean it makes a ton of sense that bajaj owns ktm and wanted to put out an aluminum framed dirt bike, so instead of starting from scratch at square one they used the intellectual property that they had already invested huge amounts of time and money into when KTM made an aluminum frame, and went from there. Why would they not do that? Why start out from square one just so ppl dont say mean stuff on the internet? They dont give a shit about that.
They had already done most of the work required, now instead of it collecting dust its going to make a return on investment. Thats a no brainer! On top of that it creates a whole different bike from the ktm/husky/gasgas template which all use 95% of the same parts. Even if its using the ktm aluminum frame, that frame was never used before and now creates a very different bike. The aluminum frame with kyb shocks is going to be a very different bike compared to the big 3, regardless of the engine. Its also a very different frame from the Japanese brands. Were getting a whole new bike even if a lot of the parts are recycled from different things. This is not just another different color KTM, which gasgas and husky actually are.
Will old KTM 350 fit right in to that frame also? Delayed 450f doesnt make sense as they will just use previous KTM engine anyway?
Exactly my thoughts.
Anyone thinking a brand is going to come out of the woodwork with something that doesn’t resemble another bike on the market today, in any way, in any shape or form, doesn’t really understand how industry works. It’s the small, iterative changes over a period of years that make something stand out.
Triumph are not going to achieve it by themselves either, and I think a lot of people are forgetting that. The whole reason PC exists is because stock bikes weren’t good enough.19 years since Honda won a championship. How long did Star struggle before they got one? How much do any of those bikes resemble what comes off the production line? Where would they be without “aftermarket” parts comparatively?
For all we know the Triumph becomes an absolute monster that blows everything else out of the water with a pipe, some A-kit suspension, a start map and a good tire pick on race day.
"Anyone thinking a brand is going to come out of the woodwork with something that doesn’t resemble another bike on the market today, in any way, in any shape or form, doesn’t really understand how industry works."...
My old man had a speed triple and sold it for a tiger, still married!
So what you’re telling me is that Triumph leveraged their business partnerships to find suppliers for the necessary components to build a motocross bike that many companies will use outside sources to acquire like pegs and braking components. Wow that’s mind blowing. Should we call all Japanese bikes that use Showa components or Nissin braking components Honda clones since Honda (until March of this year) owned a large stake in both companies, and was the only motorcycle manufacturer with ownership stake? Like just because both bikes use components from the same supplier (almost like most Japanese bikes using the same or similar braking components all from Nissin), doesn’t mean they’re clone bikes…they are very very clearly unique in their composition. Do people really think a KTM group bike would not come with WP suspension components when they literally wholly own WP…? That would just be dumb for vertical manufacturing integration reasons and profit margins
A couple funny things about this rebuttal.
1: That bike can't even race in either the MX or SX series for multiple reasons. May as well post a Chinese foldable dirtbike and go "You sure about that?"
2: If there was an ICE shoved in there, you can bet your ass there'd be comments about "Look at the swingarm, look at the side plastics, look at the triple clamps. Just another rebranded KTM."
Pit Row
The engine is a direct copy of the previous gen KTM 250. Nothing wrong with that, just making the observation.
So what we have here is an aluminum framed KTM 250SX-F with KYB suspension and I think that sounds pretty awesome.
😂😂😂
"Should we call all Japanese bikes that use Showa components or Nissin braking components Honda clones since Honda (until March of this year) owned a large stake in both companies, and was the only motorcycle manufacturer with ownership stake?"
Hitachi Astemo owns the brands Showa, Nissin, and Keihin, Honda owned 33.4% of Hitachi Astemo, but in March announced they were increasing their ownership to 40%.
"Do people really think a KTM group bike would not come with WP suspension components when they literally wholly own WP…?"
Why not, some Honda models have come with KYB suspension (Toyota is part owner, Honda has no ownership) and Mikuni carbs (Mitsubishi, Suzuki, and Yamaha are part owners, Honda has no ownership).
"1: That bike can't even race in either the MX or SX series for multiple reasons."
You are correct there are 8 reasons Stark is not allowed to compete in AMA Pro Supercross, AMA Pro Motocross, and AMA Amateur Motocross...
Awesome a new brand enters the sport, I really dislike black plastics on dirtbikes because they look like shit within a minute with dust and dirt on them but it looks good overrall.
Weird how people are so invested in hating something they will never buy.
Yep, that's what scares me off this bike and its potential sales as well, the price with all the "features" is going to be horrendous.
IF......what we see on the video is the "production" version....
What's the bet some of those features don't make the production run....or are optional extra's.
God, I mean, I'm not poor, and am still second-guessing my next new bike, what or even IF I get one ever again...unreal how much they are now.
Rapidly pricing themselves out of business if they keep it up, all of them. Noise and land won't be an issue, it'll be the sale price of a new one....
Maybe its just me (old school dude) but whats up with those dickhead front fenders of most brands?!
Could a Acerbis universal fender be mounted? Along with the best looking plate ever… 😎
Id love for them to really make a push within the next few years to have a really strong Amateur support program.
I was thinking it looked more like an arrowhead, but hey, if you see wieners, more power to you. I won't judge.
Do we know where the facility is yet?
It's just cool seeing RC riding more. The bike looks and sounds sick. Wonder if they'll stick the black.
Just to gather the facts: It seems like Triumph in England provides only one substantial part to the project: their brand name. I mean is there any sign of participation in the development or production from Triumph in England?
Production of the bike will be in Asia by Bajaj, suspension‘s from Japan/Malaysia, brakes from Italy. The whole engine package and the development around it is out the KTM/Bajaj portfolio. Maybe the frame development was done in Europe with Desalle or in the US with their riders there (?). However, the frame will certainly be produced by Bajaj when production numbers go up.
So it’s basically a Bajaj-KTM with KYB and some Triumph Stickers. You won’t find a Made in UK sticker on it.
And before you guys make it essy on yourselves and just call me a hater: look at what has been shown so far and find some reasonable arguments against my claims.
Post a reply to: Triumph,Wtf are you doing?..
