Is it happening? Google search initially rendered a forum result within Vital, but error 404, page not found. Can't find any additional info. If it's in HB again this year, I hope they increase the track length to .5 mile again, lower the music sound, provide more of those plastic walk ways (walking in sand all day is a no bueno) and give spectators access to the pits.
Not this year.
Dang! Was a kick ass time! I thought of this as well on my way home from work today while passing the location and was wanting to do a search myself.
HB most likely done, new (discussed) location in '24 could be epic!
As long as it's coming back, I don't care where it's held.
IMO, one of the best events of the year.

Agreed. It's one that I look forward to every year since they went all 2 stroke. That Roczen/Barcia battle last year was epic
It was so rad at the beach! Damn, wonder why they axed it this year. It seemed like a success to me. Was totally looking forward to it again
HB was a great event and looked epic from a visual standpoint.
Maybe they want to crank it up a notch and build the course on the pier? 😉
They need a larger venue (or take up more of the beach). We got there 4 hours early and were denied, "Event Full" "Sold out" Then everyone was crammed into however wide it was between the bleachers and the track, 30 or 40 feet ? They had room to put the bleachers and plastic sidewalk 80 to 100' ? closer to the water to have more room for viewing. I don't think they were expecting that kind of turnout.
This ^^^^ X-Infinity.
Hard to believe it's almost been a year since the last one.
As mentioned above, not happening in 2023. Wouldn't be surprised to not see it for a while.
BRUTAL. One of the best events by far. I was going to head down from Canada this year.
Because of the more packed schedule we have now?
This is why the SMX pLaYoFf rounds are a joke. Cuts into prep time for MXdN and rest time before the off-season races.
Prep time for MXoN isn't a great point to bring up. The US guys want to do it right after our season is over, they hate it when they have three or four weeks of just riding to do before MXoN (they don't want prep time, they just want to get it over with).
Ok bud.....
The crowded schedule was the deciding factor. With the SMX Series going into middle/late September, MXON always in there somewhere with RB riders potentially inconsideration and the WSX calendar in October ( which was recently canceled) someone had to blink for the sake of the riders and we did. There should be a fun race in the calendar for the professionals, ie: All star game, home run derby, etc and RBSR was that platform.
Last year was a sell out where we actually turned people away. Securing riders will always be challenging and last year we likely got our best possible scenario of top riders who can actually do it. It was a good run and maybe good one to out on. Thanks for those who supported it.
Thanks Hammer. Having it in HB was awesome and definitely a memorable one to go out on.
A huge heartfelt thank you to you guys for running these events. It's been one of the most fun to watch over the years. We all hope it returns.
Pit Row
Could have seen this coming with the current schedule, but it's a total bummer nonetheless.
Last year was a top notch event, seriously good. They've all been good really, but the past couple especially have been awesome.
Hope it can find its way back onto the calendar sometime but awesome job for putting on the events they did.
Kickass event, especially the last one on the beach. Thanks!
Super fun event to attend! But with the added 3 SMX rounds in September and Straight Rhythm usually being held in October I cannot see many riders wanting to take time out of their one month off a year to show up and race.
When do guys generally start preparing for SX? Mid/late November with the boot camps starting in December?
Totally agree.
Me and my son flew out to Vegas and then drove over to Huntington Beach. Was one of the best trips we've ever taken.
For sure needs to come back so we can plan another trip.
Idk it’s seems kinda dumb to scratch a sell out event. One that is very popular with fans and riders. There is still like 3 months before AH1 aren’t there going to be riders with a lot of down time? ESP local riders?
Also, HB IMO it’s the perfect venue for but it needs to start at the sand near the pier to main/Pch If they stretch it out to where the bars and restaurants are and raise seating capacity maybe you won’t have to “turn people away. “
yeah I’m pissed at people saying it’s done and this was a good one to end it on. The one last year was in my backyard I could have walked to it. Rant over
If the WSX wants to succeed, they’ll take up the 2 stroke race mantle that put the shine on Straight Rhythm since they started.
125cc class, and true open class, allowing works prototypes. 2 strokes, twins, electric, hybrid, just gotta have 2 wheels and be propelled by at least one of them.
Entice people with wicked speed, household name, but maybe no longer have fitness for long races/seasons. Like Hansen, JLaw, Grant, something even older legends could do with a month or so of bootcamp.
Yeah but in the past MXdN has been straight after Outdoors, now they’re doing three SX/ hybrid races. Don’t think that would affect prep at all?
