Looking at something new. Just wondering what the current interest rates are for new bikes from different mfgs with a high to excellent credit score?
P.S. I'd prefer for this to not devolve into a discussion about how borrowing money is evil.
I suggest checking in with your local credit union or bank. Our lowest recreational rates are 9.49% right now. I would hope in a few years or so the rates will be much less and you'll be able to re-finance it.
Call down to the local shops and ask. Not that hard to find out.
GasGas has 1.99%
Factory finance programs are almost always the best with same as cash, deferred inteterest or low rate short term. And yes, they learnrd their lesson years ago, now you need solid credit for good rates.
The Shop
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Free shipping: VITALMX
Interesting. I can do 1.99%, but not 10%.
The factory finance programs have great deals, but the finance companies they work with tend to have horrible reviews..
I see my local CU is at 8.9%- which is high but if you can make extra payments you can reduce the interest paid,
Another option could be a credit card 0% interest option..might be able to find something 18-21 months zero interest.
All depends on how quick you want/can to pay it off…
For the never finance folks, just stfu today..
Don't count on rates going down in the next year let alone being "much less" Even if we get some real economic weakness the fed isn't going to be in a hurry to cut. It'll take us 3-4 years to get back to where we were last year IMO.
Another option is use a CC promotion like mentioned above and then refinance the bike with a local credit union before the zero interest term expires. The fees will most likely make it a non-viable option unless you can get a long period. You would also have to make sure your not upside-down on the bike or have cash to supplement at the time of refinancing. This is taking some risks but so is riding motocross. Stay away from special financing card options unless your confident that you can pay it off since you will most likely be on the hook for all of the interest if you don't pay the balance in full. You will also need to have insurance on the bike if you finance so factor that coverage into your monthly payment costs. For some that isn't an issue but I see a lot of people that don't have insurance on there bikes and just hope there homeowners policy will cover a theft. Lots of ways to leverage someone else's money to buy something.... just make sure you really look at the true costs and not the dealerships "what's your monthly payment budget" numbers.
Borrowing money for toys is incredibly smart and highly recommended to live long and prosper!
Find the bike you want first and then explore your options, see what the dealer has to offer and then reach out to your bank or credit union and see if they can beat it.
the difference between 1-2% interest rate on such a small loan is peanuts. Buy the bike you want and just do your best to find the best finance. Don't over think it.
Credit union by me gave me 2.99% on my lx in 19 but this year 7.99% was the lowest they would go. I am not willing to take 11k out of savings so the 19 kx450 will be stretched another year until I can save up enough to pay cash and not destroy my savings.
The entire SxS community would not exist without financing.
Only people really poor with money don’t understand how you can use financing for benefit. Let me guess you think Dave Ramsey is a financial genius?
in this market financing is crazy but for the right interest rate it’s crazy not to finance while you savings/investment have a high return.
Kaw has 0% for 12 months
Ramsey is great for getting out of debt, but for his other advice such as buying homes, I would not follow.
Always "that guy" when these type of threads pop up. You know without financing there would be no mx bikes for sale. Well, Chinese ones would. Ever been to Baja? they don't have financing there so...
Is that a good or bad thing? Because SXS lenders wouldn't drive Ferraris without the SXS loans, and crackheads wouldn't exist without crack, so I'm trying to figure out where the line is lol.
Thanks man.

Financing recreational vehicles is an ICB decision. Low rates? No brainer. Put that excess capital into other investments. Higher rates? Well, that’s when you decide if a $10K bike is actually worth $14K. Still, early loan payoffs and payments will reduce total interest and strengthen your credit score.
It's far from guaranteed to strengthen your credit score. Your credit rating will drop significantly if you utilize more than a third of your total available credit,.
8-9% from the dealers with excellent credit score
I made double + payments every month and paid off my last house quickly. My current house is on a 15 year loan at 2.375% and I have an online savings account that is paying 4.8%, so I’ve gone back to making minimum payments.
That’s a really good point, and another reason to take a big-picture look at financing. If your gut says it’s not a good idea, it probably isn’t.
Wouldn't that be glorious....
So many trails and washes that wouldn't have been destroyed by those retards.
98% interest rate.
Just checked yamaha website and it has financing offers on website, you think to look there? Manufacturer websites have all this info, the internet is amazing
Yep most have good info on interest rates
I always use the 1 year 0 percent deals and make sure to pay it off by then.
Where do I sign?
