Hopefully he’ll be able to build back, and has realistic expectations. But he’s itching to get back out there, so… go for it 👍

Crazy on how stacked the 450 class will be next year.

Sexton, Tomac, Webb, Lawrence bros, Barcia, Roczen, Anderson could all very easily be race winners. All of them are arguably championship contenders.

Ap, Ferrandis, mookie, Wilson, Hill, Craig, ciancarulo. That right there off the top of my head is 15 riders. A lot of guys are going to be getting there feelings hurt this coming up season.

There's no way that Barcia and Roczen will be championship contenders.  Barcia's into his 30s and has never won more than three supercross races in a season - and that was in 2013.  Roczen is also entering his twilight years. I would put Webb and Anderson in this bracket also.  Despite everyone hyping up Webb's season last year he still only won two supercross races.  Anderson won no races (apart from a triple crown race/moto) and looked off most of the year.  History shows that the championship winner almost always wins six or more in a season.  It's hard to say how Hunter will do at this stage.

Championship contenders will be Jett, Eli and Chase - in that order.

Roczen's entering his "twilight years"? Tomac's older than he is.
Yeah, Webb only won 2 races, but he was within a handful of points of Tomac (and ahead of Chase) right up until he got hurt.

glad he's coming back! i hope the injury doesn't set him back too far.

Its funny tho, AMA starting to look like the 30+ class at lorettas.

Be interested to see the stats. Is the the oldest line up of racers ever? considering majority of the top 15 are just about 30?

Stacked until round 3-4 when people are dropping like flies. How many riders were in for whole season -23?

I get that a lot of people are tomac fans, but it's weird hearing people talk about Jett and tomac walking away from sexton when sexton is much younger and probably still on the upward trajectory of his career and tomac is on the downside and coming off major injury. They were equals last year and are on different ends of their career. Eli is going to be 31 next time he races. I'm glad he's coming back too but some of these expectations make no sense....

Nope they aren’t equals and never have been. and both the stat test and the eyeball test support this. Just because js7 could run RCs pace doesn’t mean he was his equal.
same goes for tomac and chase. And age has nothing to do with it. Plenty of young riders cruising around the back riding slow and falling off. Age is just a number. Just because your younger doesn’t mean your faster.

List the guys to have ever won a championship in this sport past the age of 30.

If you don't think tomac and sexton have been equals over the last year you're just telling on yourself. Tomac beat sexton by 7 whole points outdoors last year. While you're looking up those 30 year olds who have won championships, look up how many times each of them has beaten the other straight up in the past two series they competed against each other in.

That's good to hear. But man, Tomac and Webb on the same team.. that could get spicy and I'm all for it!

Maybe Tomac and JCoop in one rig and Webb in the other rig with the 250 guys?

If Jett beats Eli, does that mean Eli hasn't recovered from his injury?

I was wondering about this. If Jett hands it to Eli like he is everyone else it would kind of suck for Eli. At least he (hopefully) wont go out injured like he would have had he retired today.

He would still get paid for doing a job most people on Vital would love!

Sadly, this is true.      A few months since the end of SX but MXA just did a recap of the carnage.      23 was especially bad, I don't see it changing much going forward.

The announcement where Eli told the crowd he was coming back was at Yamaha's dealer rep meeting in Colorado. The corporate office is in Georgia and is listed as the location for all press releases pertaining to the US market and racing.

I'm not surprised Eli's recovery is ahead of schedule. He is a world class athlete with access to world class medical care and the drive to come back to racing. I wish him the best next year.

When Jason Anderson won his 450 sx title he finished 1st place 4 of 17 rounds.

Cooper Webb was right there to win sx this year before he was injured and he had only 2 wins.

In racing, actually anything in life, it isn’t about the wins, it’s about consistency and limiting the bad results. There is a saying that says, winners lose more than losers lose and it is very true.

I’d still put Webb/Anderson/Tomac up there to get the title again.
