Had this exact bike growing up, had a Bills Pipe and silencer. I ripped that thing around it was quick as hell! Loved that thing.

The Star 93 throw back bikes looked awesome 👌.
I remember those bikes very well, there were lots of them at the track back then.
If you really think that they are “girls colors”, it’s nothing more than your own insecurities making you think that 🤷‍♂️.  What a dumb thing to say.
The Star bikes looked especially good with them running 1 2 3 in that 2nd moto, too.

Ya know, in hindsight....   this was brilliant marketing to coincide with the Barbie movie release this weekend!

Barbie and Ryan on the way to Washougal....      (sorry RV, I couldn't help myself)

Probably going to do a '93 throwback on my YZ at some point. Love the look!

Seems like one of those things you either love it or hate it. I think they looked awesome. Purple is my favorite color so I may be a little biased.

Those bikes looked rad in real life, and so did the team shirts

And would have been guaranteed to sell none of. But all the boomers would have approved of the look

Do you have any idea how ignorant it makes you look to use the term "boomer"?        Not to mention that it's so played out, just like "butthurt", "snowflake", "pulled the trigger", "living rent free in your head" and all the other buzz terms.

The older folks just laugh at you because they know your time will come when you get old and some ignorant punk starts disrespecting your generation with some lame ass insult.

For the record, i'm GenX.....but you go right ahead and keep using your cute little "label" to make yourself feel superior.

Nice essay response. You really got triggered there huh? See what I did there?

Might want to avoid showing your ignorance by painting with such a broad brush when it comes to age and throwing your played out "boomer" reference into the mix.  Sixty five here and thinking the look is awesome.

Honestly this retro kit was fire and the matching THOR gear was the cherry on top of the cake.

Pretty nice to see although at first I was not fully convinced with the purple rims (they may have tried silver ones on software but it was probably less flashy, good choice in the end).

And back in the day I would have killed for that YZ 80 93 (got 94/95/96's though Smile )

Nowhere does it say that this was a 50th anniversary bike.  It says that Yamaha is having a year long celebration of 50 years of the YZ.  I'm assuming that they'll have a different era theme next round (hopefully)

Either way, those bikes looked awesome at Washougal

Yeah, you gotta admit, those 50th YZs look tough. I’d like to see the KXs with a 94-97 design, and the Hondas do an atomic red 92-96(7) design.

Seems sensible that they could pick any year within the 50 to replicate.

Love to see a Burnworth 86 look…or Dymond 88.

In case you missed it, 1993 was in the last 50 years. It was a celebration of 50 years of the YZ, not a 50th anniversary tribute bike...

Best looking gear/bike combo I have seen from Yamaha in a long time.  They should run it all year long.  The purple is sick.  Who doesn't love dimetapp?

Yamaha better be getting rights to those purple rims and selling them for those SE bikes as a add-on.
