Thought he was riding WSX?
Round 2 isn't until Sept 30...so he's got plenty of time to race outdoors and qualify for SMX
everytime i think of mcelrath, i think of the Salt Lake Shootout and this (yes i know its a clint eastwood line)
Yes he is riding the rest of the nationals. Rick Ware YZ.

Shane bought his own bike but is riding for RWR?
I am not sure of the arrangement they have.
The bike he bought is a practice bike.
I’m still hoping the 450 box is a decoy and that’s a 250 2t crate.
Looks like it's the race bike according to the video above. I wonder what Rick Ware's involvement is?
Seeing the Mobil 1 on his jersey makes me want to go buy some Mobil 1 4T racing full synthetic. seriously. Such a fantastic sponsor to have in the sport.
Seems that technically RWR has no arrangement for this, which is why Shane bought the bike himself. He's contracted with them for WSX and he's racing the 450 in order to get points toward the SMX playoffs. RWR has yet to officially launch a US based SX/MX effort. (not sure if they even plan to)
His teammate Colt Nichols is doing the same and trying to source a Kawi 450 for Washougal.
On RWR the 250 guys (Shane and Henry Miller) race Yamahas while Savatgy and Nichols are on KX450s
Those 2 days training with bike might be more than he was doing when raced 250 outdoors.
The guy I quoted said he is racing outdoors for RWR. That's why I asked. I understand why Shane is doing it for points. I don't understand why it's for RWR though if he's buying his own race bike.
Huh?
I don't anything about this deal but I do know you won't find a more humble, friendly dude in the pits. Wishing the best for him.
X2. Super good dude
The bike he picked up in Florida is a practice bike.
It all came together very last minute. Like I said, before, full support from Rick Ware racing, he will be pitted off the side of the rock river semi.
That was cool. The dirt looks pretty similar to Millville. Just goes to show how good the stock bikes are out of the crate.
Pit Row
So the bike he bought is not the bike he is racing? Press day showed a completely stock 450.
Agreed. Press day videos show he has the logo on the shrouds as well. Looks good!
He literally said in the video that he put the start device on from his 250 and put grip Donuts on and going to Millville! 🤷♂️
I said that in my earlier comment.
