So! Ricky Carmichael made racing a little boring for awhile, because he was so dominant, but that ended when James Stewart moved up to the premier class and the Battle Royal! had begun and we were treated to some of the best racing ever.  So! Jett Lawrence is probably gonna be the guy for awhile and I don't think any of the current riders racing him are going to be his arch rival, Maybeeee! Tomac, but he's kind of at the twilight of his career and might not be willing to wring it out like he use to, so like any good story, who's the young gun that's gonna come along give Jett Lawrence a serious battle for the future championships.  Personally! I think it might be Haiden Deegan and would have loved to see those two have gone pro at the same time and the battles in the 250f class they would have had and he kind of reminds me of a young RC on the bike as far style.   Anyways! that's my guess, maybe Tom Vialle or somebody else like Daxton Bennick or maybe even Jo Shimoda.

Deegan has light years to go in terms of technique, fitness, and craft before he can begin to challenge Jett. Like someone else said in another thread, he can throw haymakers in the 250 class that wouldn’t even land in the 450s.

Hunter is the only rider who can likely challenge Jett but keep sleeping on him

Deegan has the technique that can rail a 250f. But will most likely bite him on a 450. He will most likely be the type of guy that that's 3 seasons or so to get going on the 450.

But its hard to evaluate some1 in there rookie season. Next year he will have the pressure to win. So we have to see that step in his career next.

You think Max Vohland deserves a spot on the poll but Chase Sexton doesn't? Huh?

Chase is 4 years older than Jett. Stewart was 6 years younger than RC. It's not like Chase is turning 30 and will be gone in 2 years. He IS the guy. I don't see anybody else anywhere near those two (longterm, not taking into account people like Tomac that will be gone in a couple of years).

If Jett dominates our AMA series’ for 3-4 years, I could actually see him moving on to something else or perhaps returning to MXGP.  I think he might get bored with moto and doesn’t strike me as the type of person to care about stacking titles or records.  More of a Pastrana like trajectory.

Any true “rival” I think will come from outside the AMA and maybe outside of moto altogether.

Only V.Agina can send Jett off the rails.

In the short term (next 2 years), Chase.  In the long term, Bennick.  Bennick is going to get a 1/2 season under his belt and learn/stay healthy and build a base.  Once he gets firing on all cylinders in a year or 2, I expect him to be challenging for championships at a very high level, assuming he stays healthy.  It will take him a few years to get to the 450 class so again, that is a long term play.

But in all honesty, Jett has an opportunity to set a lot of records.

I’d say Tomac/Sexton/Deegan/Jett himself

Lucas Coenen is a good guess I think. That, Deegan or Sexton.

Jetts biggest rival will be Fame and Money...

wouldn't be surprised if we see him explode even more in the next few years and into main stream media.

Chase. He has ridden faster lap times and I honestly feel that he just needs more time on bike for fitness.

Hunter has a shot to challenge Jett. They train together and Hunter knows what he needs to do to compete with Jett

As long as he gels with the pumpkin, we should hopefully be in store for a nice long rivalry between Chase and Jett.

Hunter. No one else has the A team behind them. And you are delusional if you think they do

Chase... dude absolutely rips when he's not being his own worst enemy. He's obviously getting beat by Jett right now (albeit by a smaller margin than anybody else), but I don't think he's quite 100% yet. If I was a betting man, I'd bet Jett will win a majority of the titles in the next 5-6 years or so, but I could definitely see a healthy, prime Sexton (such as the guy we saw in 2022) take it to him

I wonder how long Hunter and Jett will remain on the same team. Do they ever split up or will they always be a package deal?

In 30+ years of following racing, I can’t ever recall seeing someone that is fast enough to put 2 seconds a lap on the field at will, yet smart enough to only do it once or twice per moto to break the spirit of his pursuers.
I remember thinking how smooth and effortless Chase’s riding looked last summer when compared to Eli.  At Southwick, Jett was manualing huge sand roller sections and skipping over braking bumps while Chase was just forced to hammer through everything in an effort to keep him in sight.  Jett truly is a next level talent.  Anyone who thinks Hunter will have anything for him is going to be disappointed, I’m afraid.  I sure hope I’m wrong about this.
At least in outdoors, if he stays healthy I don’t see a rider on the horizon that has a realistic shot of taking it to Jett week in and week out.  Maybe there is something to be said for racing your way to the top rather than living at insulated training facilities and racing a few times a year.  Jett’s racecraft is far beyond his years, and his talent is second to none.  I suspect Roczen might have had a similar outlook had it not been for that fateful night in Anaheim back in 2017.

Well it's seems like it will be Sexton. But my prediction is that they will have a similar way of dividing up the titles like the two Ryans had. Jett will win every single time he finishes a season against Sexton. The seasons Jett gets hurt (if ever), Sexton is right there to win.

this is a good question. they don’t come as a sibling deal so it’s hard to imagine them not separating to different teams at some point. then again, their dominance as two brothers from Australia who are both on Honda also has the potential for crossover marketing, and when you get into that area, their salaries and winning bonuses would just be seen as marketing dollars, so there could be a concerted effort to keep them winning as a sibling team on the CRs.
