been racing vmx and doing it on an old kx125. that said, been having a lot of fun on a 125, never raced one ever. the 450 was too much of a transition from one bike to the other so it has sat in the garage mostly. n3yz.jpg?VersionId=IG lSp8S4lamLsxQPwcaXkwFSdauxr

1985. Liked better than the bad-tranny on '86. Single rad!

Nice, enjoy it. Recommend a 65 pilot jet if you're running too rich or fouling plugs.

Congrats on the new bike!

I love the KX too , its a 1985 if im not mistaken?

I had an '84 back in the day. It was a great handling bike, and my first really nice 125.

Out of shape 43 year old here, and I am absolutely loving my 23 Yz125!  The other guys in my 40+ mx races are all on 450’s so the starts are terrible but other than that I don’t feel at a disadvantage.

This probably the best bike for your age (I’m 55 and I have a 125). The 125 is probably the easiest bike to ride back into shape. I’ve had days where I’ve shown up to the track and just ride through 5 gals of gas and I’m good. I wish I could do that a couple of times a week.

You're speaking my language. Love me a 125. I have to get one for my son, but I may end up riding it more!

That's an '85. I also had an '84 and loved that bike. Really regret selling it. Would love to have it back, KX's were best of the 125's in 1984-85

wanted to comment on the 1st ride.  220lbs 53 yrs old and probably in the worst shape I have ever been in. mentally I felt good on it. bike has a bit of a bog off the bottom, at 220lbs not surprised.  my lighter friends didn't have as much of an issue as me. motor pulls really good, was impressed how good a stock 125 would pull me. suspension was stiff and needs some break-in time but worked like a-kit compared to my stock 21 gg 450 air forks. didn't turn 1 click and it was already better than what I was riding on. I wish I would have got this before the 450. my 07 crf450 was easier for me to ride than the 21 gas gas 450. efi with the compression braking made cornering a chore and being really out of shape doesn't do you any favors. and I knew in my head being 53 out of shape and on a 450 is a recipe for disaster, a 450 will let you jump things you shouldn't be doing at my level of fitness, and this should be common knowledge for anyone, yet we will do it anyway. the 125 lets you work the bike instead of being worked. brakes worked great.  grips are harsh, what callose's I do have were almost ripped off. all in all, out of the box this is a really good bike, iron out the jetting and replace the grips and you could be done. it is super solid. hope this helps ppl wondering if they would be happy going down to a 125..

51 year old, out of shape '23 YZ125 owner chiming in...

The low end bog could be from the jetting being so far off (at least it was for my temps/elevation). Mine ran okay stock for the first hour or so of operation, but then started loading up, bogging, and fouling plugs like no other. I ended up going all the way down to a 50 pilot and up to a 170 main (left needle and clip position stock with air screw 2 turns out). Those changes not only resolved the blubbering and plug fouling, but the bike will now pull 2nd gear in turns where it could not before. I also recommend replacing the factory transmission oil as soon as possible (shifting was really bad with that garbage in it).

Congrats and enjoy the new ride!

It’s about time this old out of shape guy speaks with his wallet.  I think after the 4th I’ll call and get prices on a Beta 300 RX!!

After thinking about it I need to sell a couple in the garage that don’t get ridden first LOL!!! Ain’t no room.

A pc shorty will help with low to mid pull. I tested the fmf reg too restrictive. Pc reg pretty good. The pc shorty is the best to get the bike going quicker.  Stock pipes r usually pretty good.  The 125,s sure r Fun such a Great feeling.
