So what was the deal with Dylan’s 2021 outdoor season?

What was the formula that made it work?

Did he get ‘lucky’ with others not being on top form?

The YZ450 hadnt done anything up to that point, yet he made it work and hasn’t shown the same form since.

Being comfortable on the bike breeds confidence, confidence breeds good results

Obviously..

So the million dollar question is why hasn’t he been able to get comfortable on it since 2021?

Hasn’t seemed happy in a long time, not sure if it’s people or equipment (or both) but it seems clear.  Interesting comments after last race about changing parts and not testing them much.

I'd like to see how Masterpool goes on Dylan's blue pig.

I'm not sure if it's Dylan or the bike.

Please remember, Factory Yamaha couldn't get that bike good enough in the prior 10 years, so who knows!

Ferrandis:

“In the first moto, I made a mistake in the first turn and lost pretty much every position,” Ferrandis recalled. I was kind of dead last and had to come back through the field to finish sixth.

“In the second moto, I got a better start. We changed some stuff on the bike, and it was way better. I think we finally found something that I really like, so yeah, the feeling was great. It took me a little bit to understand the new setup, but then I got going pretty fast.

“So that was good. I finally had a good moto. I just had a little crash on lap two. I didn’t lose much time, but enough to maybe cost me the moto win or the overall podium today.”

I don’t know anything about Dylan’s training program or who is working with him.

…but I do follow him on IG, and I see a fair amount of in- season vacation photos to exotic destinations this year.

If Vuillemin was working with him this year, I would speculate that his fitness might be in a better place, who knows.

is he still hurt or nursing an injury?

Unreal people doubt this guy. He was incredibly dominant with all of the heavy hitters just two years ago. Watch him the second half of the series.

21 SX he didn’t like the bike, outdoors he loved it. 23 he likes the bike better indoors so far and ironing out the outdoor settings still. It’s always a moving goal post

Hasn't he also only raced a low double digit number of races since the end of outdoor in '21? He didn't finish SX in '22, and missed all of outdoors, then he only raced a few SX rounds this year, so he's probably still getting his race legs under him at this point. If he actually found a good setting last weekend, I'd expect he would only improve on that over the break and come out swinging at Red Bud.

Ferrandis was off of racing for a long while.  He's gaining steam.  I expect he's going to be giving everyone trouble in a few more weeks.

Some of you guys do realize he was injured for the 2nd half of SX and had limited test time and prep for MX on a brand new chassis? And he's the only 450 guy on the team rn?

I read it just fine. Ferrandis should come on down to the comedy club, would be the funniest show in years.

Here, I'll help you out:

I didn’t lose much time, but enough to MAYBE cost me the moto win or the overall podium today.

yes I saw that and im laughing at him entertaining the thought that without the crash he may have won the moto. That's what "lmao" means. I added extra o's to make sure everyone knows how comical I thought it was. The younger crowd would add emojis like "💀" or "🤭" instead.

When Aldon's guys (most of them already champions) win, it's all about the program at the Bakers Factory... The Lawrences, it's all about O'Mara badassery, wisdom and vision like RC repeats it over and over on TV... Ryno makes Forkner do beginners (& completely "out there") exercices, all of you are, "that's exactly what Forkner needs". When I start working (on both training and riding) with Dylan at the end of 2017, and he wins 4 titles in 3 seasons (2019-2021), "DV can't make him win". OK. Got it. Makes total sense...
