My son moved out there back in May and as soon as he found out they were having a round he TOLD me I'm flying out to watch it with him....I really hope they don't cancel it!

I know nothing, just my take as a frenchy.

I have no clue about the reasons, but when I looked at the website, the prices for good spots (as I live 2 hours away), or lesser ones, were relatively pricey (155 to 95, 1st price at 55 if you are ok to be really far) ; if you take a couple tickets or more, it is a bit expensive for france, especially when you have to include the hotel, drive, hookers or babies on C just kidding - very bad black french humor - admin please feel free to remove, restaurants, 10x bars - aka 1 mortage per evening, goodies, fines, stamps on the car, hotel damage to repay, uber back to paris or marseille, divorce as maybe high you proposed your cousin next, garbage fires, bus jacking to intent to go back home, and the riot you started while calming down, etc). In other words the budget is not only about the event.

More seriously, the main reason maybe, is what you get from the french sx tour, it is prime, for much less money. (which is still a budget when you include all the above). Yeah no KR etc but it is still for less than half price... Wanna spend 500 or 100 for 1 night ? (per person). I also loved my little chat with Fred Vialle in 2017 for the only event I went to in a while, while I was guarding Teillet's amazing bike with ohlins and all the blings that nobody was looking at - I was really tempted to Ronnie Mac but was just not ready for an ambulance trip - , all that while being able to walk 10 times around the sx outdoor track in 2 hours, which is not possible in stadiums. Meanwhile my friends were having their best life smoking bonkers non stop (really not my style neither my evening with admins, really sorry, deepest apologies). So for me it was sx with the outdoors spirit at its best, I love being spoiled. That can't happen in stadiums. That is why I think the main reason is the price, not enough presales so they may have some fears to lose some money, + the "competition" with the french sx tour atmosphere. I don't see any other reasons with no further info. (PS. I wont be butt hurt if anyone remove this post)

Wow, if only MotoGP fans would trickle over. They had 233k watching the race in Germany this past weekend.

The fact that the OEMs put their factory riders under lock and key sure doesn't help WSX. Roczen is the only racer with real star power and unless he has a big problem, no one on the riders list can beat him. That's probably not the best way to sell rather expensive tickets.

By the way, SX Global's Mubadala Capital credit line might not be limitless after all: seems like Webb had an offer that was off the minute Roczen signed. And an opponent like Webb -or Musquin- sure would have made the races more interesting.

As a german I'm also curious. This Supermotocross thing (can't remember the exact name) that Luongo tried a couple years ago in Germany didn't went well.

We got Dortmund in the winter which is the heart of German SX. More like Arenacross if you look at the size but waaaay cheaper compared to WSX.

And in the Netherlands we got Zuidbroek. Same as Dortmund but IMO even better.

If a race like WSX doesn't work in France with a much bigger "SX culture" I'm sceptical about other countries like Germany. But we will see.

Parris sx is not in conjunction with WSX, Australian sx is and the whole mx community can’t wait for the two events in Melbourne

I’ll be interested in the Melbourne turn out.  Currently the weakest in star power than they have ever had. I’ll be interested to see who they have as wild cards

ML do you know if Webbs offer was pulled when Roczen signed or was it concussion related? You’d think WSX would pay Webb even more just to have those 2 battle it out full time.

I hope it works out but Vancouver is the last city I would have chosen for this race .

How many non Americans here have said very few care about Supercross outside of the US ? Maybe we're  seeing that . Not even an off-season World SX series back in the 90s could be kept afloat and a lot of top riders participated . It's too early to tell , maybe this series is eventually successful but it doesn't look good .

I've said it quite a few times.....wsx isn't going to last

Hopefully, too much SX as it is and too many SX only contracts. Time to get back to riders doing both series and maybe knocking a couple of rounds off the current AMA SX as it is to give riders a few weeks off between series. Don’t quite get the fascination with SX over outdoor Motocross.

I hope they get it figured out. It’s more races to watch throughout the year. As well as it has pushed our American series to try to get better. Everything in the world needs competition to force progression.

I know it’ll never happen and American motocross doesn’t want it, but I really wish MXGP and MX sports would combine and make one series for a true world championship, maybe have 3-4 rounds in the states. I mean F1 and MotoGP are the premier and the preferred in road racing, MXGP should be the same in motocross. Too much greed involved on America’s side I’m sad to say.

Hey at least we got NASCAR woo hoo🙄

Your bias is showing. F1 and moto gp are the premiere series because those disciplines aren't clearly more popular in one country, as is the case with motocross in the US. If you want one unified motocross world championship, a majority of the rounds and attention would still need to come from the US, and the mxgp crowd are the ones who will never go for that.

Really only have 3ish tracks worthy of it. Red Bud, Unadilla, and Washougal. But we know there just HAS to be a round on that dog shit dirt in Southern California 🙄

Thunder valley, Millville, budds, ironman.... plenty of options without including the concrete tracks.

Probably not too smart to start a new series when we’re still in the worst economic catastrophe since 1929. It just came out we are officially worse than in the Great Recession of 2008. Not a great time for anyone right now.

I do not believe that RedBud, Washougal, or Unadilla are anything more than mere shadows of their former selves. Wish I was wrong, but I’m not.
