It'll mix with water in his stomach anyway. 

Id say it was electrolytes, and the reason he would take it in pill form is so he gets the entire dose in one hit, quickly, then he's got an hour or so to sip on carbohydrates before the next Moto- the carbs he will want a slower steadier intake to avoid stomach upset and bloating.

That’s not how the digestive system works, that’s what I’m attempting to explain to you. Yes, you can drink yourself to death with too much water, but that doesn’t matter here. To hydrate you need both fluid and electrolytes to balance and retain said fluid, but taking via pill or powder doesn’t matter.

There's a portion of that pill that doesn't get absorbed as well. I'm not sure where the disconnect comes from, but just because it's taken in pill form vs a powder mixed with water doesn't make it magic. Regardless of how you ingest said substance, your body still has to attempt to process it via the same mechanisms. This only changes if you are taking something via a different method IE IV or otherwise.

I’ve known people that get upset stomachs from electrolyte drinks that swear taking the electrolytes in pill form makes a difference. Maybe related to that?

“The tablets are absorbed into the system without being processed through the digestive system”.  Wtf?  You can’t “piss out” your nutrients without them first being processed through your “digestive system” into your bloodstream and filtered through your kidneys.
