Anything = come back in a few weeks. Crash out again. Another PR release from Honda. Another bike mod. Another crash. Jett slapping ass for the next 10 years riding any manufacturers 450 with one hand and an eye patch while buying storage lots to stash all his trophies and cash.
Eli Tomac had wrapped up the Supercross series not long ago. Until he hadn't.
Things got a lot easier for Jett from battling Chase Sexton obviously. But I wouldn't be counting out DF14 just yet. There's also every chance Jett has a bit of drama himself and loses points along the way.
It's certainly disappointing to seemingly lose a title contender early on. But if he misses more than just one day I would put a line through him. But if he only loses 50 points there's a chance Jett and DF throw away points and he can get himself back in it.
We really need Tomac. We really do.
I wouldn’t be surprised by anything this season

I’ll agree with some people here that chases post makes it seam like a business decision more then a i am literally not able to race due to injury situation. 20 years ago guys would have been out there no questions asked. Different world today. Take that for what you will.
We need a full gate of paid riders
You guys act like Jett will never ever hit the ground lol
Except people staying healthy.
That would be surprising.
Well this is one way to avoid drama in the semi. 🤔
“Back in the Day, before what we now know about head injuries and how they can mess you up for the rest of your life” There fixed it for ya.
Dam these guys for making a decision based on their long term health after moto is done. How dare they.
I think it just goes to show how so many fans of the sport view these riders as expendable commodities
So bummed. Could have been a replay of those awesome Stew/RC battles
Maybe he is just taking precautions and cares about himself rather than risking further injury? Yes, it's you. Has nothing to do with being soft.
Fox raceway is such a garbage track.
Walty Walter's... Number 1 dork of the YouTube world. Pure entertainment.
Jett 22-0 ?
100% agree, if concussions and brain injuries can, sadly, get the better of the toughest SOF guys on the planet, with the best medical support in the western world even compared to football players and boxers and top level mx/sx guys, nobody is immune. The Mira analogy above is sad but relevant.
I appreciate Zesiger's comment probably didn't mean to sound as bad as it comes across, I'm not trying to bitch you out dude, but you'd expect this is a decision Chase wouldn't make unless he had to and the brain is a complicated thing.
Amazing how people are calling Chase soft here, we are in a sport where it's impossible to be soft... Did anyone not see what happened to James in his final years, the dude forgot to turn around a corner as if he didn't see it in one of the rounds outdoors and the way he talks you can tell he's been hit many times.
Chase is so soft he decided to race the day out, so soft...
It's so easy from the couch though.
Pit Row
This sucks, but this year has surely taught us that it's not over until it's over. Tomac had the SX title in the bag until he didn't. The way this year has gone, don't be surprised if AC becomes the 2023 Motocross champ!
He’s dealing with two ailment/injuries. Both could have long term negative consequences. Concussions are a traumatic brain injury (someone disputed this earlier). Mono severity can vary greatly. If he continued to push through it, it could turn into a post viral illness that could hinder, if not, end his career.
I'm definitely not saying Chase is soft. But do you remember when Ezra Lusk broke his arm at a race, got it plated and raced the following weekend? Pepperidge Farms remembers. But that was a different time. One race down and your gonna call it a series sitting out Hangtown? Then they throw in the mono discovery? Hmmmmm?
It's really something to read all these comments about chase not being the guy, being soft, being fast but not able to put it all together, etc..... when he's won 3 supercross championships in 5 years racing pro and is 23 years old! Bonkers lol. How long is the list of guys who have won a championship in both classes at that age?
Broken bone isn't the same as brain injury lol, you can ride in pain with a broken bone it's not going to get much worse, brain injuries are different, if Chase was to go down and hit his head again chances are he would do major long term damage.
But if we want a pissing contest on whos "tougher" what about Jeffery Herlings getting landed on went on to win the race? pretty sure he had a broken shoulder blade.
Here's an Australian football player who has been previous knocked out 9 times, look at what it took for him to get knocked out again, it's fucking frightening, hes number #39.
It really bothers me when people have no idea what someone else is going through, yet will disparage them. Anything he’s done prior to this is irrelevant to them.
Call Honda and tell them to put a plate on his brain and take a toradol shot. That's how this works.
The thing people need to understand is that stacking concussions can prolong your recovery time exponentially.... can end your career.... can do very real and lasting damage.... can take you from "yeah I could ride like this" to "I can't function in daily life." You cannot risk stacking one concussion onto another.
If your goal is to race as much as possible, you sit until you've recovered, even if you don't care at all about long term consequences and are the baddest man on earth. Asking whether he could ride or not is asking the wrong question. Thankfully he's in a position where he has reasonable people helping him make these decisions.
Travis Pastrana just joined the group chat. These guys all know the risks of racing an f'n dirtbike and this imo is just a reason for Chase and Honda to save face (a poster above already said it). It works for both of them, Chase gets paid to sit out and Honda's new golden boy gets an outdoor title (against what 5 factory riders). I bet Chase won't race a dirtbike again until it's orange. Who the hell gets mono these days. C'mon.
People get mono all the time.
I'll take your bet. How high you want to go? Playoffs and mxon are 4 months away lol
I think you need to sit out this chat, until you educate yourself on concussions and mono.
lots of concussed replies in this thread
It's incredible how consistently poor your takes are.
