If someone paid me as much as I’m sure Oakley pays Chase, I’d wear whatever they handed me.. but as a customer, I’m not buying that goofy, overpriced crap..

I’m fine with Chase’s Oakleys or with Jett’s watch for the podium interviews but the Oakley sticker on his sunglasses was f***ing ridiculous… It looked like a fake pair from wish.com
I didn’t like the ones him and Tomac were wearing last year. Sure enough, I’m now seeing tons of kids wearing them. Not just at moto events but baseball and other sports as well. Now they are pushing the next thing that parents have to get nagged to buy. lol
...and the lemmings will buy them and look just as ridiculous.
For the record, when Ward and Johnson wore the ugly glasses, I hated them (and I was young then).

Ha! That's the first thing I thought of as well, the advertisement across the windshield. I'm a cyclist so the sight of cycling glasses doesn't freak me out, but what the hell was with that Oakley sticker across the lens. lol
Lemmings? I know you won't understand, but those kind of glasses are made for people that actually participate in athletic endeavors and want full coverage, clear optics, and interchangeable lenses with varying degrees of contrast. They are meant to be functional, not fashionable. There is a big crossover between motocross and cycling and that is the crowd Oakley is trying to reach through its sponsored athletes, not goons with grey ponytails and black wraparounds.
Him and Eli are contracted to wear them on the podium.

There’s a story behind this. Oakley just came out this those. It was Bercy SX 2000. It was 3 rights of racing with 2 mains per night. I won everything the first 2 nights. The 3rd night, Oakley Europe rep & BMX legend Eric Minozzi came to see me with those and asked me to wear them on the podium. I wasn’t having it and didn’t want to do it. We went back & forth about it for a while and came to the conclusion that if I did the grand slam (win all motos), I had to wear them at the trophy presentation. I wasn’t gonna not win to get out of the deal and Oakley was paying me $50k/year back then. I won both mains on Sunday and Eric was waiting for me by the podium with a huge smile on his face. There’s another shot of me wearing them holding the trophy and it was blown up & hanging at the Oakley HQ lobby in Lake Forrest for years. Eric stunt worked because almost 25 years later, we’re still talking about it and I’m glad I did it. Don’t tell me I don’t look better than Chase with his sticker on his blue sunglasses on Saturday 😂

I wish companies would come out with rider editions items. I still wear my Valentino Rossi oakleys from years ago. Because they were his color ways. I was looking a week or two ago and not a single pair of sponsored rider colorways of oakleys I saw any more
If mvnt sponsors jett I see nothing on their site, saying so, that would persuade me to buy their product as a jett Lawrence fan.

They have a few instagram posts with jett. But I agree they should have special editions.
I'm surprised the goggle companies don't do more. Even the jett goggles are not even based on him. Except the 1 don't pair. But that originally wasn't even his. A kid designed it and sent it in to win a 100% competition then they used the design.
But if each top rider styled their own goggle strap I'm sure they would sell more product.
So would everyone else on Vital acting like they would not wear what ever Oakley gave them.
