Bummer for us fans. I think Blair realized that they would never give his the booth full time because he’s not “one of their guys”, so he told them to suck it.
LMAO - post of the year, right there!
And correct.
If there's one thing we know about the Blair's, they are absolute grafters. Sure DB will put a tonne of work into whatever he does, and hopefully he gets the results he deserves.
It is a bummer he won't be on the broadcast, but it sounds like he's got things figured out.
He was the best in the booth, NBC wanted bigger names that offered nothing to SX. Duffy was awful, Todd was even worse.

DB to WSX 2025. Stamp it!
A huge loss for the sport. Daniel was exceptional in all aspects of his job, and his personality, knowledge, and nuance will be missed in the booth and at the races.
100%
My thoughts.... faux pas
He announced it on his Wednesday Patreon show because Patreons pay for the insider stuff, it's like a group of friends more than a show. He said on the podcast that the official announcement would come out today, so even though I heard it live I didn't consider putting it on here. As the person who was lucky enough to win the SLC contest and spend the weekend hanging with those guys DB told plenty of things that were going on regarding various team and who they are signing and what bikes they may be switching too but I consider that stuff in the vault.
Edit: Disregard this post if you told him you were posting.
So what’s the rest of the story?
My thoughts on him actually leaving is that ever since he was hired by the KTM group he was on a mission. He said it himself that he didn't feel he got the right guidance and opportunity. He will be able to dedicate much more time to the amateur program and having a riding facility only helps that. I predict in 5 years the Austrians have the absolute best development program in the business.
He was aware. DB and I are friends and I waited
Glad to hear it was so and not a rookie mistake lol, my apologies. I won't delete my post so that my apology is on record.
Keep up the good work because all in all you are killing it.
Blair was good with Holley On RDL. Nothing he could do to make it work with Hubbard. His track side was excellent. Was not a fan of him in the booth and BBD was unwatchable for me.
Best of luck in his new gig.
My 2 cents. Blair is the best in the booth. Everyone knows it, including him. He’s probably tired of playing 2nd fiddle to subpar talent.
Sucks for us
So is Brayton going to be brought in and groomed now?
Daniel was good at his job, and he'll be good in the next phase of his career. I'll miss him on the broadcasts, but I don't watch for the entertainment value of the announcers. Congrats to him on the new gig!
Pit Row
Going to miss DB for sure. Listening to him do trackside reporting compared to the other pit reporter was like night and day.
Good luck to him and his future details in the sport.
It’s that simple. I’m glad he’s going to be in a very constructive roll developing riders; but, damn…we’re losing the best dude in the the coverage realm.
That would be the smart play.
Brayton is racing WSX this year, if he races it next year too it'll effect his status on the broadcast.
That makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.
AC to the white courtesy phone please, AC to the courtesy phone.....
Only other guy I see with excellent articulation and the ability to Not get flustered on the Mic/TV.
Very well spoken, can dumb it down just enough for the casual viewer without the eye-rolls from the "in the know"....
So do we now see Wedge's role expanded in SX/SMX coverage.....
Daniel is very good, he's both charismatic and articulate, and may very well see opportunities in the future if he wants them. But honestly, I don't watch the races to listen to the announcers, and given then state of broadcasting in other sports I don't think the roster matters as much as people think and not as much as the quality of the visual production overall and attending to the actual race.
Wow… that’s really crappy. I truely thought next year he would be in the hot seat for most, if not all of them. He is incredible at his job, and his vision for sx is something the sport needs. The guy has so many great ideas, the passion and work ethic to do great things (as he will in his new roles). So bummed, I would always be so stoked when I’d first hear him in the booth for a night of racing. And let out a big sigh when it was his replacements.
Damn I hate so much how they talk ‘about the sport’ and about the riders, all this fluff, instead of what’s happening on the bloody track. Line choices, different rhythms, commentate on what we are seeing in real time. Not the to your point, about your point and to expand on my point b.s. we constantly get.
This post has triggered me haha
It could be a lot worse...we could have Beth Mowins...I watch a lot of college football and you know your team sucks when she is assigned your teams game....
DB lovers rejoice, you'll be able to hear him killing it with the call in General Tire Arenacross this upcoming season.
Going to miss his analysis on the show for sure. He seemed to be on a great path at becoming the voice of SX but hearing him talk about how it was affecting his parenting and preventing him from being the dad he needs to be makes total sense. DB is one of the good ones, I’m sure he’ll kill it in his new gig as well.
