put my grandson on a pw50 when he was 3.  was off it and onto a Polini 50 shortly so would not have benefitted from any pw upgrades for long.

Well done, OP. I am sure you will put together a sick p-dub with fuckin gorgeous grease-damped forks.

Motocross community is so weird. People talk shit on making dirt bikes look cool

The moto community as a whole is not weird but posting that you want to coat your kid's PW low performing forks will bring out every smartass member like flies to shit. We did the PW thing but mostly just small mods to go faster and a little more bottom end pull. Once you get it finished do post up some pics. Tricked out bikes are cool no matter what cc it is.

I skipped the coatings and bolted up some 52mm cones on ours.

Doing a raw frame on the pw as well. Going to start a thread when I get pictures in bike builds

Don't listen to the guys clowning you.  Do what you want and if you can afford it, why not?  While it's a bike that won't last your kid for very long, the enjoyment he'll get when he see's it will payoff more than you spent.  Plus you can keep it and pass it down to his kids.

OP - Will you also do my fork tubes on my Tiger?    That would be awesome....thanks. Wink

In all seriousness, I too thought "why"......but we all spend money where we see fit.   Go for it and post up pics if it does happen.

Following ! Go big dude !  Large, Extra large !!   Why they ask ? Because you can ! Fuck yeah love it. I have about a year to finish the one in my garage for our 3 grand kids. I'm not opposed... to spending a little on it this time around. When our kids were young the only mods we could afford was a number and some stick on eyeballs Dizzy. Anyway can't help you on the fork coating but by all means spare no expense and post pics.  Who doesn't love a tricked out PW KELLEY PW50 0.jpg?VersionId=fGCQhBB30CURRKxIFRkiwe8Ahcw

Your going to be $500-$600 in the coatings alone.  If your looking to get out a little cheaper you could have the lowers cerakoted.  I know TagMx does that one forks.

I’m just picturing a four-year-old coming in from the track like “too much chatter from the front end, basically unrideable, needs a revalve ASAP”

LaughingLaughingLaughing

"There's some stiction in the midstroke, too - better hit it with some Ti Nitride while the forks are apart for the valving."

All performance benefits aside, that is going to be a trick PW! If the OP can afford it, why not? You want "good for the sport," right? Spending money with vendors is the way to do it.

I fully support this dipshittery. I tend to go a little overboard with my kids' stuff as well. Lol

Sounds like money is at least some object, or you wouldn't have mentioned trying to save some.

I think it does sound like it will look cool, but to me I'd rather stick whatever it costs into a 529 account for my kid.

Whatever you do, good luck!  I like looking at cool bikes, but I kind of like looking at stuff like this when someone else has spent their cash on it, not me.

Good job dad! Thing will be awesome. Realistically, any of the more well known suspension companies could have it done. Look forward to seeing it!

IMG 3556.jpeg?VersionId=A.F4 6Dv165M ne1kyI264P8XForgot to mention this is my pw50 from 1990 so part of the reason I want to spend the money on this is because the bike cost me zero dollars.

Not a PW 50, but TAGMX did this for me.  They're good.  Cerakoted uppers and shock body, DLC lowers and shock shaft.frame 1 0.jpg?VersionId=j3suDNQdpe7aIFd oW

I bet every single one of you talking crap, if you saw his PW on a stand at the track with coated forks would stop and check it out. It isn't your money so chill the hell down 😂

That being said, it IS outrageous but you only live once.

100% his money to do what he wants with.

If I saw it in the pits I’d think the same thing I do about every built or modded PW is see, “Why blow so much money on a starter bike that you’ll never get your money back from? Why not take that money and get Jr a bike he can ride that he can actually progress faster on?”

I’m going to build a lot of kids bikes to look cool I enjoy it a lot. My thing is imagine when my kids an adult one day and I give him his badass pw50 to hang in his garage and then hopefully he’ll do the same to his kids bikes. He may ride this bike for one winter but he’ll have it forever.
