What makes someone an "old guy"?

That point system and the trying to let someone know they aren't using good judgement reminds me of the government, should this move to non moto?

I'm 47, with 3 kids, 2 still racing regularly and I can only beat one of them anymore. I use good judgement "most" of the time, and when I don't it usually hurts. Oh well, I still heal up mostly.

Oldfart, I'd have to agree with you here. Next time we're in Vegas we should have a beer and talk about all those young punks that think they know everything......

Damn!

I scored a dozen points on the five point scale.

I couldn't have passed that test if I had given up riding when I was twenty five.

Collar fittings will be held at the scoring tower right after the riders meeting. Handicap ramps available for your convenience.

Will there be any shuttle buses available in the pits? Some don't move as good as they used to.

Hey!! After the collar fitting, maybe a good game of bingo before practice starts.

I really believe this is a topic that needs to be discussed or at least contemplated. Next time before you get on your motorcycle think about "What if". A man should rate his risk.

I would do a five point risk assessment with 5 being dangerous.

Kids? 2 points per kid

Self employed? 2 points

No insurance? 3 points

Over 35? 1/2 point

Over 40? 1 point

Over 45? 3 points

Over 50? 5 points

Wife? 1/2 point

Desk job? 1 point

Physical work? 2 points

So if your over 45, self employed, married, with 2 kids....the total points are 9 1/2...which is almost DOUBLE your allowed 5 points. You should not be allowed to own a motorcycle!

I'm married under 30 with a desk job so my total is....1 1/2. I can race without risk. Anyways it's just a thought.

WTF does age have to do with ability. I'm 49 years old and can kick the ass of most of the 20 year olds around this area. If I get hurt at 49 years old, why is that any different than some snot nosed kid getting hurt at 20? If I get hurt now, I can do my job and pay my bills just as well as I could when I was 20, actually better since I work from home full time.

AMA Racing revisions:

Social Security checks will not be accepted for race entry fees.

Designated disabled starting will be to the right of the starters shack. All riders MUST have their disabled stickers visible at all times. Note: Handicap railing will be available upon special request.

AMA approved Colostomy bags must go through tech inspection.

Hearings aids must be turned down to not exceed 92 decibels of amplification.

All dentures must be safety wired in place.

Alzheimer’s will not be used as and excuse for restarts.

Considering how many kids get into riding, racing because of their dads, just how many tracks would there be without us old guys?

Hell I have raced all these years and now I will not be able to race the RacerX Vet series next year in the +60 class.
I find it strange that I have crashed and broken many bones with kids in school and missed work and I still paid my bills and my kids never went hungry.
Speak for your self retard. I will not quit until I just can't get my leg over the seat.
If I went with your point system, I should have never started.
You will never understand the high you get when you are out challenging the track and riders and I hate to lose.
No Moto could be life threating to my health.

yep, me too. I generally hold my own until the really fast kids show up. But having an ounce or two of common sense, I pull to the side when the really fast kids are running the track when I'm out there.

I'm not gonna lie, I make them work a little to pass me, but if we're coming to a jump that they'll launch off of (and I won't Smile ), I'll politely move to the inside or outside depending on the flow of the track.

Love riding with the fast kids though. Alot of them are amazing.

Parked next to a 45-50 year old dad at the race track. He was driving a construction truck and looked to be an electrician with those tube benders and rolls of wire in the bed. He was riding a brand new 450 while his kid was on a ktm 65. I was watching Dad and he was pretty fast. Then didn't see he come around then I went to the truck. Dad came in after his moto broken up holding his arm and looked to be in pain. I helped him load both bikes and he left to go to the hospital. Well, I left the track thinking why do guys his age need to race? Seriously, he makes his living with his hands and has a young boy and probably a wife and mortgage he is responsible for. Sad to be in his shoes. Men need to step up and know when to say they are done. I think the sport should not allow old guys out on the track. I sure hope he has insurance because he looked to be self employed. Just a note please be careful out on the track and know your limitations. Every racer needs to evaluate his situation and ask if racing two motos is worth the danger. Not sure why any of find is necessary or fun to race motorcycles. Some man at work saw my bike in the truck and we started talking it up. He wants to buy a bike and race. I suggested he buy a dual sport because mx is way too dangerous. MX bikes in general are way too dangerous. I'm seriously thinking dual sporting is the best way to enough motorcycling.

Old guys can run the races, work the track, drive to the races,
work on the bikes, wash the bikes, pay for the bikes but if you
to old you can not race the bikes? I DON'T THINK SO
Im only 51 and have a good time racing and I hope this
guy has no plans to come to Ohio !( but i would like race him)

Guys, just keep it on two wheels so you can go back to your families and enjoy life.
For the arrogant chest pounders..."I'm old...fast...unbreakable"...see ya in the hospital.

Do you really thing you need to tell us old guys to be careful? Shit man, don't you think we know that? ANY TIME YOU CLIMB ABOARD A BIKE IT’S A RISK. Even setting in the garage, you might slip; spill your beer and crack you head on the concrete. At 45 I'm still racing/riding on a regular base with no plans to quit and some ass munch on the net sure as hell isn’t going to change my mind. I know my limits and like CR I general stay within them. With the stress of work and life in general it’s a welcome relieve to hit the track to hang out, ride/race and socialize with the rest of my old dude riding/racing buddies.

If you're over 40, then no, you can't think for yourself. Do you have a power of attorney declared?

Jesus Christ....what the fuck are you doing here??!!??!! I haven't raced MX in over 3 years , but when i quit i was racing in the +25A and +30A classes and loving every friggin' minute of it! I'm 42 years old now , and am a licensed remodel contractor up here in the NW. "I KNOW" i make my living with my hands , but junior.....if you are going to live your life doing everything that is "safe"......then you aint living at all! Everyone takes their own responsibilities into their own hands. Not everyone is a little chicken shit like you are. Go sell your MX bike ya fuggin' pussy!

Old guys on the track.....Jesus Christ if i met you i'd smack the shit out of you! God Damn this post pisses me off!
