What percentage of sales? I think that rule could be abused pretty easily.

That was a rule in several car series back in the day and was abused regularly.

They should remove any quantity related stuff from the rules. Add that anyone has to be able to buy the bike, and put a max price tag on a stock bike at 20k. Some small company can show up a field a small team if they want to. And the fact that you have to supply bikes for 20k would mean we wont see any overly excotic and expensive bikes. So basically a similar rule as the 250 class suspension rule.

Will this happen? Probably not. It's much easier and safer for AMA and the promoters to please the current big OEMs and keep the outdated rules.

Yep imagine TM, Sherco and Beta joining the party with Triumph and Ducati. Could be a total of 12 brands. Why would you not support that AMA?!

Really? I can understand next year, but after the potential he showed on the 450, I expected he’d be moving up sooner or later.

Yeah. Next year will be his eleventh season in the 250 class. I'm not the kind of guy that talks about sandbagging in a pro class but it does feel like it's some wasted potential, he looked amazing on the 450. What if he doesn't win a title in the next two years, or if he gets hurt in 2024 or 2025 (I hope he doesn't), will we see him on a 250 in 2026 still?

I don't understand why they wouldn't want to put him on the 450 this summer either, specially when they have two sidelined riders right now.

I thought it was crazy.

It should be 1 year 250

1 year 450.

Craig is signed on next season he will be 33 at the end of the season. Seems like Mookie will have the other seat. They would easily be able to move on 1 of those for rj in 25.

He had a great ride (qualified 5th, finished 8th) but Daytona is not a traditional SX track.

The next weekend in Indianapolis he went on to qualify 15th and decided to pull out of the night show.

For example, remember the great ride JMart put in at Daytona in 2017. He qualified 2nd and finished 2nd in a very stacked class (Dungey, Musquin, Tomac, Reed, Anderson, Millsaps, ...).

JMart then raced the first three SX rounds of the 2018 season in the 450 class and his finishes were 11-10-12.

Like JMart he probably wants to try and win a 250 SX title before moving up. That's why JMart decided to race the 250 again this year.

RJ is going to make more money staying in the 250 class than he would moving up to the 450 class. Don't forget that racing is his job and that he's got a family to support. I understand why he's staying down. Podiums and potentially a title or two, and he'll have a great nest egg for whenever he decides to call it a career.

Edit: Typo

Cooper did just fine on the 450 this year and RJ will as well. With the Lawrence brothers moving up the 450 class will get deeper and deeper. Would like to see Hampshire ride a 250 for 2024:and the move to 2025 on the 450.

Snowmobile racing too, retail price caps might work too. Anything is better than the current system.

All great points, but I’d still be surprised if the second year doesn’t at least have a 450 option?
In saying that, I’m fine with guys staying 250 if that’s where they want to be.

Leadership changed last year at Honda and they immediately confirmed interest in staying in F1. I would not be too quick to make that assumption.

**pure speculation**

The Fire Power guys were just doing some sx prep at the Goat Farm with Star: Max Anstie just got his first supercross win and I think he is still 250 eligible next year.  I’m not sure about his current deal and if he’s available or not next year but does anybody see Star taking a shot on him next year?

I'm pretty sure he signed a two year deal.

Where are the complainers who said the 250 class is for the up and coming younger riders?

Teams have reached out to Max about 2024, but he is signed with Firepower for 2024 and even has an option for 2025.

Its only ok untill the Vet rider starts winning, then its not ok! Everyone is happy for them to run 3-5 each week.

if RJ starts winning every week next year watch how many vet haters will crawl out of the woodwork
