It is pretty rude, like if there were a way to say FU you with the throttle, that's how you'd do it. At the same time, imagine how much of an emo gorilla you'd have to be to turn into a violent criminal over a dirt bike noise at the place where you ride dirt bikes.
Maybe I’m in the minority here, but they can find their way around me. I’d tip over if I went any slower and I’m certainly not moving over, I don’t care how much you rev your bike.
A well-timed brake check in a tight one-lined corner is a safe and effective way to deal with impatience
I watched a slow dude brake check a fast dude right before a check at an off road race a couple weeks ago.
As they were pulling away the slow dude veered to the left to let the fast dude by. Fast dude reached over and smacked slow dudes front brake, instant soil sample.
Moral of the story, if someone catches you going considerably faster...do yourself a favor and get out of the way.

I'm a very courteous rider on practice days. I have no problem getting out of the way of faster riders, and the ones that know what they're doing have no problem reading my cues. The guys that act as Keefer is describing typically are not that much faster and have no fucking clue how to adjust to what I'm doing/giving. The one time in my life I took a guy down with a brake check was a public service.

Ya the fast guys have no problem at all getting around me. They blow my doors off, I'm not holding anyone up
There’s a older guy that rides a local private practice track. Teenager took him out in a corner, totally uncalled for. Gets up and goes back to his truck. There is an area we all gather around to watch others while we rest. He comes over with a screwdriver, finds the kid and “you do that again and this screwdriver is going through your skull” 😳😂. Little extreme but he got his point across, kid was more chill going forward…

Problem is this stuff right here is happening way too often now. I’ll be out on my first 2-3 laps trying to get a feel for the bike and track again, always make sure I’m out of the way and still have the asshole kids and old men that go out of their way to run me even wider in corners when I’m against the edge of the track. It’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve had to deal with and it’s every time I’ve gone to the track the last few years.
In a hare and hound. Watched an older guy use a teenager on a yz125 for traction. Bike body and all. Super pro was on a ktm450. Had to wait a bit till I found the best spot to get the KTM guy to hit a cactus. Guess after the race he was looking for me. But I finished ten minutes ahead. Etiquette.

Very extreme. Was he 60+yrs old? His fists weren't intimidating enough, he needed a screwdriver?

There's just no place for this shit. Tracks need to do a better job of setting the precedent. Kick the meatheads off the track.

I just keep an eye out and move well ahead of any super fast guys coming up Still, sometimes someone does catch me in a section that has one good line and they throw a rev... If it's a long rev it is almost always a young guy/teenager.
I throw them the bird and continue about my day. No one ever comes looking for me after. Sometimes I wish they would though.

I would need to know more of the story to have an opinion on it. On a motocross track practice day I am not moving out of the way, that being said I will hold my line and not fight you for it. I was lapped 2 weeks ago by 3 AA pros at the local off road series and I move over for them as they are racing and lapping me. I am much more likely to get out of the way in that scenario.

Very extreme. Was he 60+yrs old? His fists weren't intimidating enough, he needed a screwdriver?
At that time he was between 50-55. Rides with a patch over one eye, and still rides today at over 60. Pretty sure he didn’t need the screwdriver but it provided the proper motivation for the kid to adjust his attitude (not a 13 teen a 18 teen…)
One time in the mid 90s I was riding at LACR on a weekday night practice on my RM 80. Some d bag on a 250 cleaned me out for no reason and I flew over the bars and landed right between his rear wheel and fender. My stomach area was all raspberried up from his tire. I wish I could beat that guys ass even to this day.
I don't get too worked up over revving and etiquette. I'm usually trying to keep my RPMs up in the corners working the clutch, so when I slow down it may sound like revving to move, but I'm not actually revving to get a rider to move. Just the way I ride. And let me clarify, I'm not by any means what one would consider fast. But I am faster than some and when it comes to a corner, I'm likely riding like I normally ride the section. Its just that slowing down results in revving longer through the corner because I'm going slower. And I have no issue at all when a faster rider comes up on me and revs at me to let me know they are there. I'll gladly move over. No issues at all. Hell, I try to tuck in behind and see how long I can hang with them (which usually isn't very long). Its a good reminder to me I need to ride with faster riders.
The only thing that gets me to bring out the papa bear is riders doing unsafe shit to other riders on the track. You intentionally smack someone else front brake lever, especially to a slower rider not intentionally doing anything wrong and I'll first come say something to your face. You do it again or lip off and shit's gonna get real.
I was 13 years old and riding a new (to me) track for the first time on my 125. It’s a practice day of course and not many riders on the track at all. There’s a section of the track that goes up and bends around the hill. Think of it as similar to Mt. Martin at Millville. Nowhere near as steep though obviously. It’s an easy section and it’s on the far back side so there’s a little trail you can use to just cut the track over and skip that part, which seemed to be common for people to do. I was obviously not doing any of the jumps as it was my first time out there and this is my first lap. I’m being super cautious and making sure I’m out of the way of everyone. At that little trail that cuts the track, a dude did just that to get right on my rear wheel as we got to the top of the hill. As you crest the hill, you have a jump down toward the bottom of the next hill. Not sure what his deal was but he was mad I was in the racing line and he had to lock up his brakes at the face of the jump. 13 year old me is thinking dude I checked behind me as I was coming up this hill and there was nobody. He cut over on the track as I was getting to the top of the hill and apparently had it pinned. But I rolled the jump and he had to roll it too. I was just so confused. That incident, along with many others, gravitated me toward trail riding. So much more relaxed and less stress. I’m also a big nature guy, so it’s awesome to enjoy two hobbies in one. I haven’t put wheels on a track in years. No desire to. Love watching. Racing isn’t for me.
Depends… if it’s a C class guy training for Loretta”s… I just get out of the way & maybe seek them out later for an autograph 👌 now what really grinds my gears is a younger dude jumping in my Vet practice session to try & beat up on us Vets…. Then we got a problem…. The Vet class practice session competition is fierce 👍
I hate the guys that idle around in an open practice until you go around them and they have to crank the jets up. Years ago I passed a dude that was rolling around the track right before the start straight and he just had to drag race me out of no where on his 450 and pretty much ran me off the track the next corner, I gave him the corner and tried to continue my moto but the dude would just not calm down. I finally got a run on him over a table and he got squirrelly and was about 6 inches from locking bars with me in the air.
He held me up for over a lap and once he just about killed me in the air I just pushed him over the next berm, not super high speed or anything but I was just tired of hoping this dude wasn’t going to collect me in his mess. He came over to the pit and dropped his bike and started yelling at my dad (I was like 15 or 16 and this dude was 30). He switched to the C/Vet practice after that.
Not a ton of revving in the Vet practice. I will say though I've noticed a significant uptick in young bucks signing up for vet practice instead of the A/B or C/D practice they belong in. When we have twice as many vet guys as A/B guys something isn't right. Last session I switched to A/B to get away from the crowd.

hahaha...i hate when that happens to me at the track....
I once got block passed during practice by a younger guy on a huge track with no one else around. I thought about retaliating but I was too winded 😂
Maybe I’m in the minority here, but they can find their way around me. I’d tip over if I went any slower and I’m certainly not moving over, I don’t care how much you rev your bike.

Anybody panic-revving someone on practice day has his priorities out of whack.
