Thinking about going to a National this summer... I've been to several SX races over the past ~15 years but never an MX event, and thought this summer would be the best year for my first with Tomac potentially retiring after '23 (although who knows at this point), Sexton and Ferrandis being great challengers, and Jett moving up to the 450 class. What tracks in the eastern half of the US would you guys say are the best viewing experiences? I'm in FL and am not really interested in any of the races out west, but I'm open to anything as far west/north as Millville.

Dilla is fun, you gotta walk around as the track is pretty spread out. Red Bud is worse in that aspect IMO. Budds is easier to see larger portions of the track, same with High Point.

Red bud by far is the best track in the States. Washougal is probably the second best track to attend and Unadilla is great as well. Red Bud would be my top pick then Washougal. Any track in California is completely overated. South Wick is decent but sits in city limits.

Budds Creek. Usually can see the whole track from many places

Southwick is pretty dope but I’m a little biased. It’s literally in the middle of a town right behind the public school, not out in the boonies like most tracks.

Loretta’s by far

I have only been to Unadilla, Southwick, and High Point. The history of Unadilla is great, the track is a mere shadow of it’s former self these days. Southwick is a great track stuffed into a small area. Literally 100 yards from a school. The atmosphere is very much Us vs Them , as New England fans are rabid in their support for locals , who qualify for this race in larger percentages than most any other track. High Point was an incredible wash out when I went, so much so that I turned into a pussy and left early.  Still , any track you can get to will surely reinforce the notion that these guys are not mere mortals !

Millville is great, can see most of the track since it's in a valley.

id say both of those are the worst ones out of what i have attended. especially washougal.

i would hit budds or millville. best spectator tracks.

high point and thunder valley are also good as well.

I love California, but Cali tracks are indeed trash. Especially as a spectator.

Washougal is a beautiful venue and a fun race to watch. Been there a bunch and raced there 3 times.

I'm considering going to either Red Bud, Thunder Valley, or Millville this year.

i'd definitely go to millville or thunder valley. red bud is a cool venue for sure but it's not as great for spectating compared to the other two.

Red Bud for the whole weekend. Millville for the race only. High Point can be really good as well. I have not tried Hangtown or Indiana yet.

Millville has it all the longest sand whoop section in the world. Big jumps, big hills, hard pack , etc. it’s a combination of a few tracks.  Throw your bike in the van .  You hv a practice day then amateur day. Then the natl then amateur day again.  Red Bud has the same but has the night track too.

My wife and came out from Australia for a moto holiday last year and hit the last 5 nationals, Washougal, dilla, budds, Ironman, pala + red bud mxon.

I know you said you didn’t want to venture as far west to go to Washougal, but I will just say it was our favorite track to go to, the viewing isn’t the best, but the whole area is so nice I think it makes up for it, being amongst the trees is awesome to escape the sun, and it’s a nice place in general. Pain in the ass to get in and out though.

Unadilla, was fun. Easy to get in and out of, cool track. Pack sunscreen and drink water, the sun is deceptively ferocious up there. Screw - u / the wall is incredibly steep, and needs to be seen to be believed.

budds creek, the track and viewing is very good, parking is a bit of a nightmare.

ironman, tracks rad viewing is really good, easiest to get in and out of, it’s right on the edge of town. Godzilla is something else.

redbud awesome, green grass, beautiful track, pretty easy to get around, pits are in a good spot.

if I had to list them in order of best to “worst” I would say

Washougal, iron man, redbud, budds creek, unadilla.

We had the weekend super ticket, for all the events and in my opinion it’s well worth having, the tent is normally in a spot that has a good view, somewhere to escape the sun + a good feed, free drinks and private toilets.

If you have time, collect your tickets Friday afternoon and it makes getting through the gate Saturday so much easier.

hope this helps, have a good time!

Thanks for the input guys. Kind of leaning in the direction of High Point because it's always been one of my favorite layouts and a lot of people seem to agree it's a good track to see a lot of the action. Also considering Budds & Millville.

I've been to Ironman, Redbud, and Pala. Redbud has good views but there's a good chunk of the track that's on one side of the hill or the other. Really fun environment though. Ironman has some good viewpoints as well and like the previous dude said, the Godzilla wall is pretty nuts when standing next to it. Pala is pretty polarizing, but I still like it. Not the best vantage points to see the majority of the track but you can find some quality spots to park it and set up shop, or if you're a wanderer then you'll be happy with it as well. If you like being at the podium after the race it's kind of a trek down there. Zero shade so good luck if it's a hot one. Also getting out of there after the race is a nightmare and a half. That said, it's only about an hour from my house now so I am a little warmer to Pala than most people but I do really like it. If you're traveling far anyways, there's probably better tracks. Just sharing my experiences!

Definitely come to Millville. Best venue to watch 95% of the track so you never miss anything. Of course I'm biased, but I have yet to see another track other than Steel City that is designed so perfect in a valley. But High Point looks like its set up similar.

Red Bud is the best one to attend in the Midwest IMO.

Excellent post!

Since you mentioned a willingness to go as far as Minnesota…Millville really is beautiful and has an honest Sand Section that a Floridian may really dig. The History and Heritage of Unadilla along with how nice the facility is…and it’s location…make that a solid choice. In your “travel radius”/your neck of the woods…you’ve also got Budds Creek, Southwick, Red Bud, Ironman and High Point.

I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. I am kinda partial to Red Bud for the 4th of July. 💪🏻🇺🇸

No matter which one you go to, come back and tell us about it afterwards. Have a Great Time!

The best one by far is Red Bud, if I had to pick a second it would be Budds Creek. Budds has better shady spots to sit but Red Bud is more spectacular, is pretty easy to get around and is the best experience.

Ive been to unadilla and southwick. Unadilla is in the middle of nowhere and like 45 mins from a hotel and is really spread out. Was definitely cool to see. Southwick is great as others have said it is right behind a school and is 20mins from the airport, and its the only true sand track on the circuit.
