It’s been talked about a lot on here and social. Kenny wants to do outdoors but he has the option to do either. It could change so don’t get your hopes up yet.
Ken said on yesterday’s PulpMX show that he’s going to be racing the AMA Motocross series this summer.
I imagine he will know after 2 rounds if he will be in the mix, good to have options
Yup, on Pulp he confirmed and even stated he wants to get an early start on outdoor testing now that his supercross settings have settled out.

I’ll be interested in how the British round goes , I don’t believe villa park is the same level of stadium as Cardiff is , and last year they had Eli and Kenny , probably the 2 biggest names in the sport ,
are the tickets around the same price ?
So he threw away his opportunity to stay at HRC based on his desire to do WSX… now after everything he is not doing WSX and going outdoors?
makes sense 🤦♂️
That had more to do with Ken being a man of his word and following through on his commitment of doing it last year. He never made such a commitment this year.
Actually it had more to do with how much he would have had to pay WSX if he backed out of the contract with them.....
On another related note, I laughed when Kenny tried to say he was an underdog on Pulp and Davi immediately said "you're not an underdog, Kenny" 😂
Yes I know it was all in good fun, just interesting to see where Kenny's head was/is.
WSX seems like it was the straw that broke the camel's back, but the relationship between Kenny and HRC was going sour long before that.
My guess is Kenny will do outdoors and then do the Germany round of WSX as a wild card with a very nice appearance fee.
Adam Bailey must be bummed. Their ‘champion’ isn’t even coming back to defend his title. I’m starting to think WSX just isn’t going to work.
i dont think this year will be huge with WSX.. but i think 2024 we will start to see big names. a lot of riders contracts up, some on the back end of careers.
2024 i reckon we will see riders finish up and chase the $$ before they finish up.
Kenny made BANK to go and race the WSX series. Just to show up.
And it doesn’t appear that the same kind of money is available this year.
Btw, doesn’t Kenny say that “the plan” is to race AMA MX…at this point?
I disagree. Going to a privateer team who’s on the most outdated and least supported manufacturer 1 month before the start of SX is just about as underdog as you could be if you’re expected to win. You’re simply wrong if you think Ken was/is a realistic championship contender this year, especially on an unproven bike and team.
It’s funny to me how quickly the narrative has switched to ”Well he’s Ken Roczen, he could win on anything!” from “he’s clearly just chasing the biggest paycheck at the end of his career and riding a bike that is outdated.” Considering at this point of the season most journalists said he probably wouldn’t win a race kinda supports his underdog comment.
Hence why I said it was all in good fun, I agree he was definitely the underdog heading into the season.
The point I would make is he created that situation himself, starting with the weirdo Honda fiasco and then finally ending up on Suzuki. I won't pretend to know what all the ins and outs were, but to me it's hard to listen to him talk out of both sides of his mouth on Pulp. How the bike is competitive, but also about how much work it's been.
I'm not a Roczen fan at all, but it was cool seeing him get that win on Saturday.
Astephen couldn’t have ham fisted this whole deal any harder
I disagree, I think now he has won his worth has increased.
He's a current season podium and winner AND tuned an old package to be competitive.
Whether that is good management or blind luck I'll leave for the forum to decide!
Pit Row
Gotta think pulling out of SX after daytona last year didn't go over well with HRC.
WSX could not have picked a worse weekend than 4th of July to kick off their 2023 season.
Who is going to be racing it this year? Savatgy appears to be the best guy. No disrespect to him but he isn’t going to sell tickets like Kenny and Eli can. I don’t see how this series works when it’s competing against SMX and outdoors. It’s just going to be a world tour of SX privateers.
WSX in the mud? Who coulda thought
Maybe he’s just making sure WSX will make him the right offer…
Kenny’s dad’s interview on the ‘problems with Honda’ would suggest he was happy to be rid of Honda.
complete opposite of “throwing it away”.
The biggest factor for me is it’s right in the middle of the summer.
Club racers are involved in their own racing- they might have a race that weekend, or might be short on money, or anything else- there’s so much for people to do in the summer that typically I see numbers drop off at races anyway.
I guess this race won’t be as well attended as it was last year.
Anyone who thinks Roczen and Honda parting ways was solely because of WSX hasn’t been paying attention.
For the life of me I can not understand why WSX went up against the schedules of all the outdoor races, local, regional, amateurs, national, and world championships. They are doomed, who is showing up to a stadium to see Bogle race Friese in July? What a way to waste a multi-million dollar investment.
Deano will be there...
I'm a little bit confused with this wsx thing. So anyone who decides to race wsx rounds will be losing points towards the super motocross championship, as some rounds overlap? Wouldn't the riders view the super motocross championship more important with that huge payout? Is anyone skipping mx rounds to race wsx?
Kenny has always said he wants to race outdoors. Last year on pulp when asked about what he wanted to do in 2023, he said he wanted to race Supercross and outdoors.
Follow the money..
Post a reply to: Kenny skips WSX for outdoors. ?
