Yes but i'm French, does that count ? It has been a big deal when he won the MotoGP championship here, as he was the first since i don't know how many times.
Yeah. Funny enough I only have because JT mentions motogp in his podcast somewhat often so I started following it the season he won. It’s pretty awesome, those guys are gnarly

Alot of this confusion is due to the fact that ever since Marquez Roczen'd himself in 2020 there's been 3 new champions making a name for themselves. It's a bit like if you had Grant Langston on TV in 2007 and asked people if they knew him, people would say well I know Stewart, Carmichael, Reed and McGrath but not this guy.
Matthes is talking a choice between interviewing Lechien or an active motoGP champ. who would you choose?
Dogger.
To me, take the opportunity to show some of the history of SX rather than a loose tie in to MotoGP.
As for JT's opinion on of who fans should have heard of, I'd be more disappointed in a current SX fan not knowing about Ronnie Lechien than even Rossi or Marquez.

That’s a bit of a slight to Fabio. He was considered a generational prospect at age 14. 2019 was Marquez’ magnum opus and Fabio followed him home 2nd 5x as a rookie
Was actually looking at a video clip of why interest in Moto GP is dwindling, average no of people attending a race is down to 112k !!! Wow that's huge in my book.
All sarcasm aside, that was by far the most retarded take i've ever heard on Pulp MX. I know Matthes stirs the pot to get people talking about his show, that's his whole MO, and it works for the most part. But this one left me rolling my eyes into the back of my skull.
The dude is a Motogp world champion, has over 2 million followers on instagram, refusing to acknowledge how big of a deal he is in motorsports WORLDWIDE is just dumb. Very, very dumb.

Nothing new to us...non american. It just confirms that our view of you is correct. Not all of you....but vast majority...
Don't forget some of the Moto GP talent didn't start out on road race bikes. Some can get around an MX track pretty good, and dirt tracking - forget it. They all spin a lot of laps around the dirt tracks and can slide a bike like you wouldn't believe.

You guys are awfully sensitive about this. If a road racing fan told me they had never heard of Cooper Webb I wouldn't be surprised and I sure as hell wouldn't be offended.

Not meant as a slight at all, I was just trying to make it simple. For the past 20 years the names you thought of when it came to motogp were Rossi, Hayden (for US), Lorenzo, Stoner, Pedrosa, Marquez. The time is just coming around for a new generation that will take a little time to seep into the general consciousness, having Fabio on the SX broadcast is an good step in that direction.
Matthes' dumb rant is a good example of the Streisand effect.

I agree^
Ive heard of him because I do enjoy watching Highlights of the the MotoGP races as I do think theyre the highest paid riders on 2 wheels and going that fast bar to bar is pretty dam sick. That being said MX/SX is my pride and joy and I wouldnt be suprised if a GP fan hasnt watched MX/SX and doesnt know our stars.
That being said I have no opinion on if or why people have heard of him or not vs Lichein... my biggest pet peeve is when Steve cant fuckin pronounce a simple last name repeatedly. Whether hes playing stupid (like i think he does sometimes) or on purpose its pretty cringe because anybody with half a brain should be able to pick up on saying a word once they hear it once. Quart-a-raro, show some respect to a Champion. I havent missed a show since 2017 and appreciate it all, i find myself laughing by myself on my drives to and from work but Dam Steve not being able to pronounce words repeatedly on stuff "he doesnt care about" gets aggravating.

He was mispronouncing on purpose to get his point across. Just like a 10 year old child would.

I'm curious if you think misspelling a person's name is equal to mispronouncing their name?

No
I meant in the premier class.
Matthes is talking a choice between interviewing Lechien or an active motoGP champ. who would you choose?
To my knowledge it’s never happened.
I had never heard the name before Monday.
Yes. Sounds especially cool when the British announcer, I forget his name, is all excited calling his name during a race.
Dogger.

Yes, but I’m also a fan of MotoGP and Yamaha so there’s that.
Fabio who? Sounds like some nobody from a nieche sport that no one watches.

How many people in those crowds have heard of Eli Tomac or Cooper Webb?
If it's not all of them, then they are all ignorant bastards and we should be outraged!
*That's what we're going for here, right? Just making sure I'm on the right path.
