I really like seeing the expressions on the faces of the riders while their racing. There's something really cool about seeing the emotions that they're going through in the middle of a race. Are their any well known photos like this? Here are a few I found.

Here’s one I took of James. I pulled this off of my Facebook page because I’m not going to go digging around on a hard drive for it at 4am. It isn’t the best example I have but I saw it while scrolling yesterday, but here it is.
This one has always amazed me. The look in Pastrana's eyes.....definitely badass.

I remember an older, in car video of a rally driver where they were focusing on his eyes but they pointed out that he didn't blink for some long time, possibly around 2 minutes. I wonder how long moto pros go without blinking.
That photo of Dungey and Tomac is epic!
Love when I catch these type of shots of my kid.
The intensity and focus are just so raw.
If you're posting from your phone, click the little icon with the 2 mountain tops above the text box. From there click Choose File, select the picture, wait until it finishes loading, click save, then click Submit.
Same process on a computer, but you can also drag the picture from your folder to the Vital text box, wait until it appears, then click Submit.
My favorite shots of my kids, love the intensity and focus it shows.

And one from when I still rode for good measure 😂
I've got a few of myself from way back in like 2004
Pit Row
No wonder I always have a headache after riding
Are those Smith googles with a Scott strap?
Not me obviously but Brad West back last year training before his Injury.
Great thread! Epic pics.
It'd be pretty difficult to narrow down "well known" ones, a high percentage of head on shots from all top shooters in SX and MX capture the rider's eyes. It's much easier to pull off with top tier autofocus and should be be pretty common in any head on shot, and frankly I think the digital files translate it better that scanning film. Most often if you don't eyes on an in focus shot it's likely because of goggle lens choice or google lens reflection (especially in high sun with tear-offs), IMO anyway.
Cool topic! Definitely not well-known, but here are two of my favorites I've taken:
What’s going through your imagination at 4:00am on Tuesday morning for you to ask for photos of athletes on a forum so you can stare into their eyes?
Here is a photo of Brett Metcalfe from 2008, He came to a friend of mines track a couple times during the week before Southwick.
You only really see one eye but I always liked this shot.
