California is roughly 164,000 sq mi.  They are saying enough rain fell to fill about 214,000 rose bowls.  So in theory you could have one rose bowl in every square mile of CA filled and still have enough water to fill 50,000 more Rose Bowls.

Number games are fun.. but let's hope in reality much of that water was actually captured in available reservoir space.

Some of the water will be capture in reservoirs but that's a small fraction of what flows back into the ocean.  If they had the infrastructure built out to capture a nice percentage of this last month's rain we would be golden.

Our idiot leaders here have put higher priorities on "more important" measures and needs.

Ridiculous that we are drought prone and these clowns do nothing to address it.

They need to figure out how to replenish aquifers.  Dams have an inherent tension in their dual storage/flood control functions, and whether they have capacity to handle the water from heavy rain/rain on snow/or flash snowmelt with high temps is a tricky balance, witness Oroville in 2017.  California reservoirs are a year-to-year management issue depending on rainfall, which is a problem with seasonal rainfall variation - it's very difficult to store water year over year in increasing measure for the future in dams.  They need to develop different run off and rapid run off solutions that restore ground water.  There are towns in Central Valley that have had their wells run dry for municipal water service because farmers are drilling deeper chasing water.

Rivers are meant run to the sea.  The Colorado River no longer does, notwithstanding two of the largest dams in the US, which reservoirs in spite of the impressive infrastructure currently are at risk of dropping to dead pool level.

The nature of how water hits California is challenging, but frankly we're better off than our neighbors just to the east of us to the water slope in Colorado.

I hear you.  There was a special on the SoCal evening news the other night discussing this topic because everything thinks the drought is over with all this rain.  The engineers being interviewed were dispelling this myth and pointed to our lack of infrastructure needed to capture/divert this water back into the ground.   We just need to hope it continues to rain this winter after we deal with the current flood situations around the state.  In the past, the storm patterns have shut off and left us dry for the rest of the season.

The forecast in SoCal after today is nothing but 100% sunshine for the next couple weeks.

How has the next round in San Diego fared with all the rain?

Is there a possibility it to may be canceled?

I think we’re going to be fine. All of the rain in the area should be done by Tuesday.

Yep. And it rained Wednesday night. Our back yard is a swamp. Hoping they have it covered.

I live 25 miles east of Snap Dragon, when I got up 3am to take my new puppy out to pee it was raining pretty good and looked like it had been for a while but its blue sky's now. Hope that's the last of it until Sunday then rain away.

Dammit!  I am sure they had it covered but wet flat bottoms and dry jumps causing the “curbing” effect at the transition sucks!

Press day was cancelled today.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

With the temps as cold as they have been and more rain last night it will probably be similar to A1.  They'll get a full day of sun on it today but temps are colder than usual here so not sure if it will dry the dirt enough to avoid rutocross.

Doesn't seem like there is much hype for San Diego. All I've seen is a post saying MM25 is out with a wrist injury. Are they doing press day?

I was thinking the same thing. The Moto-Media was pretty quiet, I saw Press Day was cancelled on SwapMoto's Insta but there is no info why.

I know it rained down there this morning, so that's my guess for the Press Day Cancel. But eerily silent non-the less.
