This right here! Or the OEMs buy it instead of supporting the next 10 year old wonder kid for six years only to drop him the second year after he turns pro. What’s the better investment, some kid you never will hear from again or a place for consumers to use your product for ever?

Theres no Soil on the track there. Its a rock quarry with manure on top, often not mixed in. If somebody buys it and wants to be profitable as a business it would be a stone quarry. Live 35 mins or so away, and i'd rather not ride at all than ride there. Nothing against the Hurds, just is what itis.

Yeah I was kidding. Haha I went threw the area going to Baldwinsville NY. Unld. Ld  in Scenectady NY. Beautiful scenery across NY. Following the Tomahawk river. Going to Johnstown NY. Next.  Our local track is hills and valleys with a lot of rocks. I do a Lap walking throwing rocks off the line I want to use.

Johnstown’s my neck of the woods. Or the twig as some locals call it. When you’re in town let me know. I can show you a fine establishment open 24 hrs to grab yourself a drink and eat our famous staple of Mac & gravy. Where the graveyard shift cook barehands the mozz sticks and chicken tenders from the fryer while sneaking shooters of Jack Daniels. If you’re lucky he might even leave you a little bathroom nose candy for dessert.

Sounds Wild I,d be puking threw my nose. It would be like Dude where’s my truck. Haha We push pretty hard here mon- Fri. Sat & sun I get a little time 1 night if I run 750-890 mi 1 day. Like on Jan 2nd I hit The Philly strip club in Smithton Pa. On i70 . Jade Hot little fun girl. New yr I wanted to start it off right.  But the track is in a great location for a Huge race. The whole area is Big hills for those that never been threw there. We basically hv the hazards on every hill climbing in the NE, to give ya an idea. I still get shocked when I get on top of a big hill or mtn and see a valley of all white houses & bldg,s. Like how did you get those houses built on that steep hill side and how is the water pressure. It’s like driving threw a post card.

Very few people have $1.3 to have their own race facility for kicks.

Just sale what ya got and move there.....no? Can't.....just do that? Nobody can either.

And NY? Well there's that...

Why such a dick? You ain't DV, quit trying.

Upstate NY is like North PA, to some degree- a nice place to be in the summer. cold in the winter.

But the upstate is dominated by NYC politics, which leads to very high taxes, regulation of all kinds , little opportunity. Most young people leave as soon as they can. Many businesses left decades ago.

I just saw a chart displaying enrollment numbers for school districts a little north of the Ithaca area. While most places in the country grow economically and in population, upstate NY is shrinking, contracting dramatically. Many of these school districts north of Ithaca I mentioned are seeing the continuation of a 40+ year trend of flight from the area, and show school enrollment numbers as much as 60 percent less than 1979- the earliest year this chart displayed. All are down significantly VS 1979 numbers

Thus the dandy real estate opportunities....the place is dying.

The gas drilling potential would make ownership nearly free.  Unfortunately the New York political climate makes that option value almost zero.

I wish Tom and his family a happy and well deserved retirement.  I hope the new owner(s) bring the same passion.

What kind of Land or per acre prices are we talking about ? A nice strip of land n. Of the natl Forrest and Quebec would be nice. I could control some of the trade between the nations then . I had to get a huge 4 wheel drive tractor chained up to get me up a 20% grade mtn in NH. Thick ice with a few inches of snow covered rd. I couldn’t believe it. From there cut across backroads threw Vt. Into Ny. Very few houses or settlements across there.

Do the bikes in your world have unicorn horns and run on pixie dust?

You want the ama to run a track?....LMAO

the "promotion family" runs tracks, they don't own them. Why would they?

Compare the different business models and it only makes sense to do it that way at the level that they do.

In the real world tracks come and go, just like people. It isn't always about money.

I hope they find a buyer that is able to continue operations.

I imagine the solar farm developers will be all over this.  Cheap, cleared, south-facing land.

Broome Tioga Solar Farm.  Sucks.

One thing to remember is land can vary from one part of the country to another. I know parts of PA where you can get land for less than $3,000 per acre in areas of low population, especially if you are looking at over 20 acres.

Even in my county, Franklin County, PA there are differences based on location and possible uses. For example, there is a 17 acre property that is more rural listed for $180,000. There is 22 acres listed for $475,000 that has a chance to get developed although, from what I was told, it won't pass because of wetlands but it's pending right now. Then there is the 22 acres right off of I 81 listed at $1.75 million. It just varies so much based on what the possibilities are with the property.

Great track with a lot of history. Glad to have made the trek out there to race some vintage mx in 2018.

BTW their composting manure game was off the charts that weekend.. I learned real quick to keep my mouth closed.

Hope whoever buys it will keep the track open.

This course was awesome, I was there in the late 90s and watched Pastrana smoke everyone. Also Roncada and Fonseco were having a hell of a battle.

I loved going and watching races there. I looked quickly at Zillow around the area and there is a 100 acre plot of wooded land with trails and dirt roads/paths for $190k  currently for sale. It is very close. Maybe a mile or 2 at most away. And a 50 acre farm a little farther away with a house and barns for $290k. Lots of 100+ acre properties for sale in the area. So lots of land out there. I would love to buy the place. If I had some extra time and money and it was not 6 or so hours away from me.

I looked at some google earth images and it looks like they have multiple tracks now. One across the road , and one or 2 on the hill above the old pit area. a total of 3 or 4 tracks and some trails. only one gate from what I can see. But looks interesting, like it could be a great place again. I was last there for the National that James Stewart crashed into RC at the bottom of that downhill coming back out of the wooded area. I loved taking photos of that track. I'll take a look and find some of them and post them on here if I find some time to do it. There used to be a rut that developed about 15 minutes into the moto across the first turn, that let the riders almost drag their bars for a few laps before it got rough and too deep or bumpy. I remember Windham almost dragging his bars through it. And RC and James were going through the whoop section that everybody else was jumping through, they skimmed them. I can not remember if they did it every lap or not. But I know they where on another level that summer and the one before.

I went to a few nationals there and also a bunch of the local races when they ran the full track. They gave out giant trophy's . I never rode it myself, I had a nagging injury that had stopped me from riding. But it looked so fun. At the time , it was nicer dirt and not as rocky as Unadilla  was. I saw so many cool things there.

I was there for Phil Nicolette's first national . He slept in a pick up truck with 2 other guys. I was there with a local racer and I wanted to offer him a place to sleep, he had ridden at a friend of mine's track at one point but I did not know him. I just felt bad seeing 3 guys sleep in a pickup .  It was Also Josh Hill's first National I think.

I was there for Dungey and RV's first National's and was blown away when I saw RV the week after at Steel City and how much he improved.

I really hope it is able to stay a motocross track. If I ever win the lottery and its still for sale, or I have the extra time and funds to purchase it, I would love to get it and keep it alive to allow more great memories to happen .

Dungey's first national was at Millville, the round before. I remember being there thinking, Decoster picked this kid (13-13 for 15th)? I am about the same age, but it had me a bit confused. I also thought Hill had a great career ahead of him when he got 3rd O/A...Shows what I know.

The only time I went to Broome-Tioga was for the last national, didn't even know it was the last one til we heard it over the PA system. Seemed like a cool track.

Higher Powers wanted to improve the reach with new locations like the SE (still waiting for that round to appear). At the time 2 rounds in NY, guess which NY track was gonna get clipped?

I didn't remember him racing Milleville.( not saying he did not , just that I had forgotten ).  But I too was surprised that they picked him from the B class. I remember watching him and , at the time I was going to 5 or 6 Nationals  each year. And I kept running into him leaving the track , or at a stop light , or gas station. I thought how strange it was to see him so often and not really ever see the other guys. I never talked to him. Since it was always when we were both in vehicles leaving the tracks .  And then years later when he got into the 450 class my dad became a big fan of his.

I   looked quick and did not see any photos of RC and James skimming that section. So it might have been another year. Or even from when James was on a 125 and they ran the 250 and 125's together in Sunday morning practice. I remember going over to the section after being told they had done it or seeing it happen from across the track. So many years ago and a few too many hits to my head. The years sometimes blend in together. I found the first turn photo of Windham . and the crash when James ran into RC at the bottom of the hill. I have a dvd full of photos from there and Budd's , Southwick, Steel City, High point and Unadilla along with some local races from Broome and Southwick. The dirt looks really nice in the photos. If this thread sticks around long enough and or people want to see more photos from back then , I'll take a look at the dvd's and HD's that have those images on them and find some more photos.   These are kinda out of order. The windham image is after about 15 minutes into the moto, and the first of the 2 first turn images is the second image and the second was taken before it. But They should all be from the same year. Windham BroomeBroome first turn 450 moto pic 2Broome first turn 450 motoRC and James Broome crashStewart Broome

Everytime I read Broome-Tioga, I hear McGraths voice from (I think Supercross 2000) saying "Broome Tioga now this track"

5k an acre too high unless it’s on a lake. I know of a NY. Wealthy widow of the owner of Nabisco that built a 31 room mansion with 80 acres of dense woods, 45 acres farm land, 1 mi frontage on the red river with rapids and it’s own waterfall. The Roman Catholic montisary, cottage & barn I think r torn down. Built in 1939 for sale 2 mil. It’s famous for the Menomonee Warrior Society seizing the property and having a stand off with the national guard and police for 34 days in 1975 . There where shot at every night. Feb 3 1975 it ended. The leaders where Vietnam Vets. Marlon Brando stayed with the Indians 2 nights. I was 9 there was a lot of tension buildings where boarded up, etc.  press Gazette has a 2020  good article on it. Mpr archive has audio of the lastnight.

225247D5-BE4C-40B5-81B8-E086B1BAE27ENavarino ski hill is still for sale I think. The chair lift needs major repairs. 40 mi if that west of Green Bay. I would guess 350k includes the Lodge. See pics of 1990 when it was closed. Lodge burnt down property sat for yrs. The Ultimate sand track.
