Oakland going to be a swamper

Seattle 2017 was strangely awesome. They had a totally different dirt that year, it was kind of gravelly and loose and it survived the rain pretty well. I've wondered why they had that dirt that year, all I can think is that with no 2015/16 race maybe they found out late they could not get the old dirt from 2014 and had to scramble? The 2017 night show was awesome, quite possibly the best Seattle I have attended. The track was sketchy, but made for great racing.

One more awesome and I'm Barcia.

My memory was AP doing a step on, step off that few others were able to do. I talked to him in the pits before the race and he was so relaxed and friendly. It was a great night but freaking cold!

Sucks for those that already bought tickets. Which I assume is the majority of those attending.

Hopefully they can get a refund somehow. I always bought my tickets at the box office the night of the race, it's also cheaper.

I’d say cancel it. Nothing like ruining a bunch of bikes riding around in soupy mud. Top pro riders riding around a track with both feet off isn’t very entertaining. Let’s hope it doesn’t ruin someone’s championship hopes due to a mechanical.

Even if the track is a slop fest, it will be the same for everyone and there will be a good opportunity for a upset win.

Remember Dowd and I think it was Henry back in the day?  As privateers they both got their first win in the slop.

With the dirt looking like this and a lot more rain coming. How the hell can they even attempt to make a track? If they try to race the riders should refuse to race it. A dnf would would ruin the season for alot of guys. It is seriously idiotic to try and pull off a race. Feld needs to take their losses and try to do another Anaheim or just call it a wash.

San Diego a couple years ago.

I hear you but it also may ruin someone's championship by cancelling the event.

Edit - I'm being selfish. Really don't want to wait another week for San Diego.

Surely they have to bring in more dirt for an SX track than the Monster Jam left on the floor?  Maybe they have some dry stuff stashedSilly.

1978 Pittsburgh SX was pretty muddy. It took a week to clean up and remove the dirt. City was not happy about that. Oakland will probably cost a-lot more money to clean up than the parking revenue.
Back to 78,3Hannah was leading the race at Three Rivers Stadium until he crashed. Came from way back to second and crashed again. He pulled it out with a lap or 2 left. To edge out Marty Tripes.  My brother and me got to hang out with Tommy Croft and Danny Laporte on the TWA flight back to LAX. A young and up and coming guy named Mark Barnett did a double that no one else tried that night. Rich Eierstedt had a big crash on his Can am. And Scott boots were the rage back then.

Winning a championship is about body and machine. Knowing how to make your bike last in a mud race is part of the game. Watching guys paddle around in mud is better than watching nothing. Line them up. MX and SX is rain or shine.

I live up here and it’s been non stop rain for almost a month. Worse than I’ve seen in 8 years of being here. They are calling for another foot between tonight and Saturday. No break either to build the track. They are going to have to anticipate a mudder and build accordingly.

Now if they could figure out a way to contain all this rain water before it flows into the ocean there would be no water shortages in California...I've been witnessing raging rivers of water down here flowing into the Ocean for the last few weeks.  I've seen all the flooding in your NorCal, it's crazy.

Just returned home from Mammoth and all the Sierras have been getting dumped on.  We just need this to continue all winter to make up some ground on our drought conditions.

For 5 dollars what is a dam?

I'm not sure there's been a Supercross race as bad as Daytona 2008, but San Diego 2019 was a slopfest, and a lot of dudes and their bikes had the lye burns to back it up. Before that, Oakland 2018 when Anderson won for the first time was pretty sloppy, too.

I was at SD 2019 and Oakland will be far worse. No lime though...

Can’t believe i’m reading grown adults saying to cancel the race because it’s too much work for the mechanics and will ruin the bikes.

We know they can’t use lime so the bikes will be fine - it’s motocross! I’d much rather watch whatever Dirt Wurx can come up with than them cancel it altogether.

Level playing field, same conditions for all, and the better mud riders who can keep off the clutch and not over ride the bike will have a better chance of doing well. Praying this race goes ahead, I have faith in the DW crew!

Unless you live up here you wouldn't know. See the standing water on the track now? It's only going to get worse, heavy rain from tomorrow to Sunday. If anyone knows how to build a track that has puddles and mud as it is right now, and with it about to be pissing rain for 5 days straight? I'm really curious to know how anyone could pull that off...

Doug Henry winning at Texas Stadium during a thunderstorm that also produced a lot of hail was the most epic mudder I ever saw (95 or 6?). He was doing the triples, while everyone else was trying to roll everything. He may have lapped the entire field.

We've had enough injuries as it is.

Sand Diego 2019 was a true mudder imo. Seattle 2018 not bad either.

It must have been ‘96, because I would have been in Navy bootcamp around that time and I don’t remember ever seeing that race.

If you thought Jett and Tomac looked good at A1, wait till you see them on jet skis. Feet on the pegs at all times, on the throttle through the whole corner

Henry won at Texas Stadium in ‘95. McGrath won every race in ‘96 other than St. Louis which Emig won.
