You're not allowed to make up your own history. Not only was he a contender in 2019 he was a dominator. Even Chase Sexton admits how important it was for him to win the 2020 title because he lucked into the 19 title. To finish first you must first finish but to act like a guy that rips off 5 or 6 consecutive wins is not a contender is just silly and shows you have some kind of irrational bias against him.

This is what I'm saying, he just needs some media training. Most of the time it's like he's trying too hard in any interview, he needs to be taught how to relax and just have have fun with it.
Anyone who thinks he is not a title contender is just a hater. He can absolutely win either coast, Jett or no Jett. Obviously with Jett he likely needs a mistake or some bad luck, but both at peak they are lot closer than the devoted Jett fanboys would want to believe.

I have zero connection to Austin, but I truly hope he’s successful this season and takes home a title.
I’ll be cheering for Austin more than ever solely for the reason that it will upset so many here.
Hunt was a racer's racer, and his lifestyle was pretty much standard for a playboy back in the day... his battle with Lauda for the drivers championship, was epic, from when he made his name driving for Hesketh, a proper posh boy team , run by a Lord out of the Stables at his stately home ( which are pretty much as they were back then even now , as one of our subcontractors was based there) to getting the Mclaren drive and winning.
He was a winner , and the British Public loved him for it , in an age when sports heroes , were proper heroes, off the back of the likes of Jackie Stewart and Barry Sheene, Stewart was a true gent in every sense of the word , and i think it was him who joked that he came from a time when 'Sex was safe , and motor racing was dangerous, and now its the other way round' .
Its a shame he died so young, but he lived life to the full, and he was much loved, unlike Lauda , who was as unlikeable as they come.
And i can say that , because i worked for Lauda and he was a prick.
