Team photos-always gotta have the turndown shot

Edited Date/Time 12/16/2022 7:00am

Am I the only one that thinks these shots are not that cool? The only time you see these seems to be in intro shoots. To me it just seems like a 90’s shot “look I laid it flat!” These days a scrub shot in my opinion is so much gnarlier. Offseason boredom….

Yes, they’re sick.

Half the forum users use pics of guys in the 90’s doing these turndown as proof that JS7 didn’t invent the scrub. They don’t even know the difference and this is probably the first time they’ve heard it’s not a scrub

Turndown tabletops are the best. Definitely not a scrub, though.

Also nicely displays the sponsor logos on the bike...

I'm always quite happy with turn down service....especially when they're hot.

Let me ask you this....much more important.

How do you feel about Sexton being a huge fan of Jordan?

Regardless of what it's called I've always been a fan of these shots. Always seems more 'playful' vs all business.

Yes I'm old and I know it doesn't show the sponsors asm well, but I really do love a good cross up. A couple old variations.

If you’re not turn-in down you gotta be turn-in up!

If I ever had a problem with these turndown shots, it’s only because I more so enjoy the pics of guys doing turndowns while freeriding and jumping up ridiculously steep cliff jumps.

 Turndown for what?

In all honesty I'm not a fan either, it's been the same thing since the late 90's. I like when they are zoomed out a bit so you can see the height and distance of the jump.

DAMN! Still gnarly by today's standards. I remember that picture as a kid. Did it make it into an MXA issue?

MXA 1980s stuff still

MXA does the bermshot 180 with one foot planted shot since the Lance Moorewood days.

I was at a press intro recently and all the riders were going around the perfectly prepped track with their photographers getting shots in different areas.  Then we look off to the side completely off the track at a 8-10ft wall dusty as hell blown out area and MXA was over there getting the shot I descrived above.

Add a tooth in the rear, raise/lower the fork oil and slow down the rebound, voila perfect bike.

Love those guys.

RJ in Dirt Bike magazine circa '87 as stated above. There are several awesome photos of him on the 500 in that issue.
