So…who are your heroes in this sport? They can be pro riders that motivated you to ride at a higher level, that were amazing to watch ride, or were great personalities.

They can be people at any level of racing…past or present.

Mine:
Roger Decoster
Jeremy McGrath
Wyman Priddy
Rick Johnson

While I wouldn't call mine heroes, the the following have indeed inspired or continue to inspire my riding aspirations.

In no particular order:

Jeff Emig
Mike Brown
Ryan Hughes
Kevin Windham
Blair Sharpless
Graham Jarvis

I'm a grown ass man, I don't have heroes but mine is Doug Henry.

End of discussion.

I'm old so it's hard for me to call somebody my hero when they are younger than me. But for me when I was young my first MX hero was Joel Robert, then DeCoster. My American hero was Brad Lackey. I have a signed photo of each of them in my garage.

Rode with him yesterday.

He's such a great dude and bad MF'er on a dirtbike.

Emig hands down. He was the epitome of cool in the late 90's.

I didn't think it was that tough to follow along with.

I don't have heroes, big deal Tomac could lap me in a one lap race, that just means he is better on a dirt bike than I could ever hope to be. I'm probably way better at Excel spreadsheets, doesn't make me his hero. haha

Doug Henry is enough of an inspiration that I throw out my no hero rule. I thought saying it that way was more interesting than just listing a name.

If you’re between 20 and 30 years old and TP199 isn’t on your list you’re lying.

Jeremy McGrath.

The way he laid waste to the competition in the 90s changed the game

Malcom Smith, who everyone's heard of. And guys in 80 plus classes hardly anyone's heard of.

Barry Simon- Racing in the 80+ class for a couple years now.

John Webb. Raced until almost 90. Sharp as a tack and funny as shit. Use to see him at every Supercross or outdoor race we went to.

Dick Lyons. Runs his age for his number each year. #87 this year.

And a bunch of others. Not fast by any stretch, but racing mx for decades and decades just out of love for the sport.

I’m missing something here, why can’t adults have hero’s?

For me growing up it was Stephen Gall. He's a true legend.

Dick Lyons is a straight pimp! Good for him to continue competing in the sport he loves at that age. Legend. I'll be lucky to make it to 65. Respect 👊.

Me too. He’s the reason I got an XR75 when I was a kid. RIP.
