I have no clue. A politicians only job is to get re-elected. They will say whatever it takes. However, they typically have wealthy donors and they have to appease the donors. So If what you want is in line with what the donors want, that's who you vote for because their job is to do what gets them more money to get re-elected.

I drove 780 mi today to Boston I scanned the radio a bit. Only politics I heard was on public radio and that was about mega republicans ruining the country. I hv no idea who won what. Freight is down ovr 50% so I hope something good happened Tuesday . Stocks went upa bit predicting a republican
House.

I'd say with the number of close races, the rate of voting participation and the fact that we have gone through 6 years and 4 voting cycles of the most partisan times most living American citizens have ever seen without widespread political violence there's reason to celebrate the country not being completely broken yet.

If that decision came out today…Republicans would have taken even more seats in the house and easily taken the majority in the senate.

So what you’re saying is that if the Republican appointed SC majority would have just held off from exposing a basic tenet of the Republican platform, then more people might have been fooled and could have voted Republican because they wouldn’t have been smacked in the face with their stance? Does that about sum it up?

Embarrassed to be from Pennsylvania. Both candidates sucked. I was shocked when Oz said he was a Republican, I would have never guessed that. All the people cheering for Fetterman was because his main issue was legalizing pot. PA elected a dead man as well.

Yes the number is set by congress, but while she casts the tie breaking vote on legislative issues, on this issue it's unclear if she can vote as she is executive. It's all opinion until the Supreme Court decides.

Not at all, the SC made the right decision in handing that down to the states…it’s not about fooling anyone, the people that issue pissed off wouldn’t vote republican no matter what…I’m saying that that issue slammed in the face of democrats motivated them to get out and vote. For some reason they feel the FEDERAL government upholding their right to kill a baby is more important than the economy or inflation or national debt or being respected on the international stage, etc etc etc….but talk about killing babies and they get really fired up…and those additional pissed of democrats showed up to vote. How many polls in blue and swing states showed abortion as a higher priority than anything else this year? A lot! And that is what made the difference…in my opinion.

It seems the Republicans have at least broken the Democratic stranglehold on congress, even if they did not experience the "red wave" everyone was talking about. I like balance, so that to me is a good thing.

Now, maybe the only legislation that will pass are those laws which make a lot of sense to both parties. If that means zero new laws, so be it.

I don't think that abortion is a high priority for most people. Having the right to control their own bodies is probably a high priority, though.

And while I hate to derail a decent thread, the whole "killing babies" hyperbole is a complete farce. No rational person believes that an embryo is the same things as a 3 MO baby. It's fairly easy to demonstrate that, also.
