We’ve had threads, rumors and pics with K-Roc riding a variety of bikes. Just curious to see what the Vital consensus is to what he actually ends up racing.

I can't picture the Redbull logo ending up on a Kawi.

Maybe we'll find out if someone posts another thread about this.

Highly doubt he chooses to race a Honda considering how much he complained about it and wouldn’t take HRC’s deal in the first place.

He’s quickly running out of time to win an AMA SX title, and with that being the case, one would expect him to go with a brand that has won the title at some point in the past decade.

Roczen will be on a Honda at A-1. He doesn’t have time to develop and get used to a new bike. He has unfinished business with Honda.

If he liked the Honda why would be turn down their offer?

Unless he liked the bike but wanted more days off to surf and listen to reggae.

He turned down their offer because they wouldn't let him ride WSX and the penalty for backing out of WSX would have put him with little salary and racing for mostly bonus's in a SX only contract.

Because his employer’s offer reduced his seven figure salary to a six figure salary.

What would you do if your employer wanted to pay you less for the same work?

If I wasn't as qualified or didn't have the potential to perform to expectations, I would expect less pay. I would buckle down and work harder to justify a pay increase. Remember, they are independent contractors and aren't in a union to insure wages whether they are qualified or not. ,

If it's a "privateer" Kawasaki, then the Red Bull deal is irrelevant. He can run whatever sponsors he wants.

I'd love to see him re-energize the Suzuki brand and nothing would be better than landing on the podium or even fighting for wins. Which Ken can still do on occasion...

It's actually less work, since it was SX only.

Doubt it will happen, Suzuki doesn’t seem to care about racing anymore. Paying Roczen won’t sell more commuter bikes around the world which is presumably where they seem focused. Sucks for us enthusiasts but business is business.

Well, splitting hairs.
Honda didn’t offer Kenny what he thought he was worth, so he walked.

Don’t quote me on this, but I’m sure it was said that he earned 500k for the two WSX races and Honda offered him ‘only’ 750k for all 17 of the US races.

It’s a no brainer.

He will get Fill-in ride. There are not a year when all factory riders did line up healthy A1. Before that he can post some Kawasaki/Yamaha riding photos with Redbull sets.

I believe he's going to want some level of factory support. Not to say Kawi won't give him parts because of the sponsorship it just feels weird.

Surely he knew that Honda wouldn't let him ride WSX BEFORE he signed the deal to do WSX. He had to have already known he was risking burning that bridge with HRC when he agreed to ride WSX.

He signed with WSX way before the manufacturers decided not to support the series, before WSX released their schedule plans to coincide with the US outdoors....he and his agent assumed that Honda or whatever manufacturer he would be with would not have an issue as at the time there was no indication of any conflict....and then the cards fell...

Yes. Assumed being the key word. His ego got in the way because he is Ken Roczen and it bit him this time. When you get sick weekly and have to quit numerous races and entire seasons, you may not be worth what you thought. He really should just go after being the face of WSX. His body and mind is not at the tippy top anymore. Nothing to be ashamed of because he is still better than all but a few in the world.

Yeah ‘bit him big time’ alright, looks like he’s having a terrible time…..happiest he’s looked for years. Good for him.
You guys talking about your own assumptions like they’re fact is ridiculous, but entertaining, thanks!

no offense to kenny, but he's past winning a title. that shipped sailed when he taco'd his arm.

his body has been so on edge and on the cusp of illness since then. most ppl including him, dont realize how much a serious injury can drain you, much less multiple surgeries following.

he doenst have the stamina to be on the sharp edge for more than a month or two which is when he drops off

Yep. He was having a great time after winning A1 in January and then imploded in Oakland, had 12 sicknesses, posted video of himself wheezing and hacking the whole month of December, and then pulls out of the series while Honda keeps paying him.....only for him to agree to a series across the planet and didn't check with his employer to see if they were cool with that. Keep watching.

Exactly. It’s easy to forget these guys are already multi-millionaires and if they’re not 100% content with their current situation, then the quest for happiness becomes the most important thing in life.

My honest opinion is Kenny is having a hard time accepting the fact that he isn’t the top dog at Honda anymore. I imagine Chase’s salary went up and Kenny’s went down, and Kenny had a hard time accepting that.

Likely not gonna happen, but I think it would be awesome if Kenny Rode a different brand at each round. Talk about going against the grain.
