I'm pretty sure it was a bad elbow injury. I saw it in person and it was a nasty crash!
One of the dirtier moves you'll ever see. Never been a GL fan, because of that incident.
worked w/Bobby in 2009 WORCS series, hard worker, great to be around, unreal talent!! as far as GL goes, we all make mistakes but that move was one of the worse I have ever seen, still have hard time listening to him talk!! good to hear bondos doing what he likes to do!!

I remember the take out / wreck and the years that followed too. Was so pissed at Grant for doing it. I met Bobby at the PIR pro shootout ( which he won ) about 6 - 7 years ago? Guy is such a class act and was really cool to watch him ride. He was flat haulin' that night.

For those that don't know about this move it was at a VERY high rate of speed ... I saw it too and it was flat ass UGLY!!

The crash may look violent from the pic but it doesn't do it justice for how fast they were going. I still remember that split second before when Langston looked over and moved right into him....coooold blooded for sure.

Didn't Langston take out a lady at a practice day too?

I'm being serious, I don't recall, but I thought it was mid-air or something like that...

I remember seeing a dirty action from Langston, I think it could be that, but I do not know, because there is no video of it now.

I got stuck hanging out with him and his crew one night through mutual friends and yeah he's a douche . At least he was that night

Here you go. It even makes it more comical because of how he lost a title because his pos KTM rear rim fell apart on the last lap of trying to when a National Championship with him crying on the side of the track. Or when when he was trying to fist pump over a jump in Supercross and ate shit. Bonds didn't come from money. I remember him showing up at races in an old school Toyota pickup with an old Toyota bed as a trailer. He obviously had nice bikes from Honda, but he was 10 times faster than the local pros who showed up...a couple being Team Green and RM Army supported riders. He was insanely fast.

Totally punk move on GL's part to chop Bonds off at high speed but who remembers him taking out the woman rider at GH on a practice day? She got a bunch of broken bones after getting taken out by GL over a jump.

Washington state has a gem of a track called “Eddieville”, and it was on the WORCS circuit.

Track was cut into a wheat field, had some of the most amazing “natural features” that you could imagine.

Bobby was railing that whole track so hard, EVERYBODY was cheering him on.

On of the great things about that track was that so much of the track is visible from the pits.

Pros that year included Ty Davis, Russell Pearson, Destry, Kurt, and Nathan woods. Local pros were Lance Smail, Rory Sullivan.

As you watch this quick video, you can see all of the natural elevation features, but you also can constantly see blips of the pits, which means the viewing of a lap is great.

I don’t remember that but that was pretty cheap. I’d love to hear GL’s side of the story and his thought process on that.

The video is posted above and I saw it. I meant that I didn’t remember that happening at the time. I would love to hear why Langston thought that was a good idea and what his intentions were.

Langston talks about it in detail on his Whiskey throttle show. He said he feels bad now, but at the time there was contributing factors that lead to him feeling like he needed to send a message. I think the message was sent and received!

It’s pretty plain to see that Bonds was using a few dirty moves himself, which led to this.

Amazing how hard something that happened 21 years ago still chaps peoples' asses.... I've met Langston and his family multiple times. They are good people. Even mitch said Bonds shouldn't have started it

Thank you for this - I’ve searched YouTube for a decade for this moto, and it’s like it doesn’t exist

Well, if Langston says it was bad, then whose to argue? Sucks anyway you look at it! I guess they all do regrettable things. If only injuries didn't happen! I like Langston, but was even more stoked with Bonds.

I was there (me and my buddies raced amateur day the day before), and you're right, the video does it no justice. Those guys were absolutely flying.

Langston says Bond hit him two or three times and that he was over it and was proving a point.

Bonds says he was tired and doing whatever it took to win the moto.

Years ago another rider told me that Langston took out a female rider mid-air and she crashed and got really hurt. I don't know if it's true- I was told it was Budds Creek.

Hasn’t anyone here ever heard -

“You mess with the bull, you get the horn?”

When the heat, adrenaline and stakes are high, you can’t throw out the anchor, block and swerve and not expect retaliation. Racing 101. Bonds was in way over his head at that moment of the race.

He came to my local track and he was doing this double out of two rollers in a corner, no one had ever done it before. I actually did the double after seeing him do it but i could never make the corner like he did.

Funny how people accidentally cross jump someone now and they are instantly labeled a dirty rider and should be penalized. But Langston looks over on a high speed down hill at Bonds and then cross jumps on a table top while looking over in the air. The proceeds to swerve into Bond's outside line and proceeds to brake check him is cool? Because it happened 20 years ago? Ok gotcha.

Don’t get too riled up over it.
I have met and been around both of them. They are both cool in my book. Obviously Grant did him dirty, but I don’t think he is proud of it. Racing at that level is something most will never know what it’s like. But I’d imagine Bobby was probably pissing him off, not getting out of the way for Grant and he retaliated out of frustration. Easy to see it was a bad choice, but Grant is good people and it doesn’t change my opinion on him one bit.
Haven’t seen Bobby in a few years and I didn’t even bother him when we went riding at the track he was running. But I watched him race amateurs and into his pro career, he had something special.
Ended up doing really well in the OffRoad works too, but I’d guess there wasn’t much money to be made there.
