Moto in KY?

Anyone on here from KY or any neighboring states? Starting to throw some pins at the map for somewhere new, not liking the trend that South FL is heading.

Im not too demanding for entertainment, but ideally is there a good amount of tracks around the state? Heathy off-road/harescramble series? Fishing/Hunting good up there?

I've made the move from florida to Kentucky..
Riding here sucks. The tracks are super 'okay' and most of your track owners are only open for racing/intermittent riding. It's not like Orlando mx where there's a schedule or anything and they stick to it. The dirt is awful and there's a golden window of riding where its not a mudpit, but not hard pack yet. I'm not trying to be discouraging, I love riding more than ever and I have a purpose built transport setup that allows me to pack light and travel far at the drop of a dime. I've seen more of the south than I ever thought I would and I have a total blast doing it for dirt cheap and the camping and travel aspect is so much fun. I just don't want you to think you're going to come blast berms and have the ocala national forest to play in, because that's not it. Offroading here is seen as what I would call "unanimously acceptable" and there are plenty of places to ride. I only ride moto, so I end up in TN, KY, AL, IL, GA, MS, IN, and even down into florida. Tracks include Leisure time MX, FMX Paradise, R3 Motoworx, Echo valley mx LLC, Lincoln Trail MX, and many others.

I know some others that are into off-road that will probably stop in. Hunting and fishing? Best in the country with long seasons. Some of the best gun laws around, okay cost of living, not too many green hair types, and I think the reddest state in America actually. If you wanna know more you can send me a message.

DO NOT MOVE TO THIS REGION IF YOU EXPECT TO RIDE MOTO.

Like actually dead serious lol. I am in Nashville, every single track is 2+ hours away and to be honest most of them that are around are not good to say the least. Most of the tracks around here are very tight, hard pack, and hardly any of them do any real "prep" or water throughout the day. I mean seriously its usually too dusty to even be behind someone after the first session of the day.

Most of the track owners are nice dudes who mean well but yeah the tracks are just not it and there are very few of them around.

It's insane there's nothing serving nashville or clarksville.

I know man, its seriously dissapointing. It is odd too bc in the 4 years I have been here I have met numerous people in the area randomly that ride moto and there are always bikes for sale on FB marketplace around here.

I'm convinced it's mostly private track ownership and use and you just kind of have to meet the right people at the right time. I'm working on getting something going myself because of the aforementioned situation, so I'm assuming many others have similar approaches.

The reason Lincoln Trail in IL gets 800 riders + at every race is partly because there is zero consistent worthwhile motocross racing in IN, TN, or KY.

I live in KY, but far north near Cincinnati. Casual Vet rider who tries to get out every weekend if possible. The track selection does suck for sure. Southern Ohio has a few better places, like East Fork, ran by Scott Plessinger and the series he runs gets a ton of racers at all his events. The problem is for practice, since it's the only decent track around, they run rotations based on size of bike, skill, etc. So if I go there for 4-6 hours, I may get to ride 30 minutes to an hour max. Not worth my time. Off Road, there used to be more options, but I haven't ridden that in a long time. And as stated, weather is so hit or miss. Last weekend it was in the 30's in the morning, today it is almost 80. But I don't travel too far any more, but there may be nicer places 2-3 hours from here like Honda Hills and places in the Columbus area. But everything is at least an hour from Cincinnati area. 30 years ago we could go somewhere different every weekend it seemed like.

What about heading east? Muddy Creek? I have talked to some local peeps, and everyone says you just have to cross the border to NC and good tracks are aplenty?

I am in the middle of considering a move to the Bristol area or at worst, Knoxville. I have been trying to figure out what will happen to my MX life. I am a track only guy, I believe it is basically Muddy Creek, or heading to NC as I understand it for 'better' public tracks?

As it is now where l live, all tracks are 1-3 hours away, two great tracks within 2 hours, nothing within 1 hour so I am traveling no matter what so I am used to that. Sad that 20 years ago, I had 3 or so tracks within 30 minutes, all housing now Sad

To be honest here in columbus OH things are looking up for riding. Route 62 is open most Wednesday's and now have an indoor track and the owner continually tries to improve their main track, Grear's is open on weekends consistently, Briarcliff isn't open as much as it used to be but is a fun track, about an hour away from chillitown which holds some decent sized races also ran by Scott Plessinger, An hour from Wayne national forrest near Athens which is public trails, and did I mention the LEGENDARY honda hills is back. These tracks are all within an hour and a half from downtown columbus

Another hillbilly here. There is very little moto around Central Kentucky, but a few decent off road/harescramble scenes.

What it lacks in moto (among other things) it makes up for with dirt cheap cost of living and enough space to do what you want.

Echo Valley MX - 1722 Poole Mill Road, Sebree, KY 42455 - Private Track, generally open year-round, good dirt, no quads, bikes only - (270) 339-6704

They have an area qualifier yearly in the Spring, good people - Central KY

Minus the winters , Ohio track and racing scene is far superior than most areas. The big series averages 400-600 riders every race. If you live in Central Ohio you have roughly 12 or so track within 2hrs or less. In the winters you can easily get into NC within 5 hrs of driving and have a 30 degree temperature swing. The winters do suck.

There's a super nice private track in Franklin/Brentwood area I know of. I follow the dude on IG but I am too afraid to ask him when/if he ever has people out to ride. Always hard to break the ice like that lol. I want to say like I am a vet A rider (aka I'm not going to come out and wad myself and sue or get in the way lol) but never know how to approach it.

That is a big bummer... I was banking on that one being my go-to, I guess I should have checked their schedule.

Muddy Creek has quite a few from what I have seen from 1 rider that tags me every time he raced there. They just had the Cody memorial race there last weekend.

I do know some around Nashville that go to Alabama to race

I live in southeast kentucky, usually end up traveling around to ride. But it’s pretty dead here 2+ hours to go ride anywhere. I try to put around 75 hours a year on my bikes but strictly motocross. Local tracks in the state I usually ride at are tri state mx, south fork motoplex or some private tracks. Travel around to r3, wmmx in TN, east fork in Ohio, or numerous tracks in north and South Carolina, usually take winter trips down south to ride.

Look into R3 Motoworx man. Pretty close to knoxville and probably one of the best tracks I've ever been to.

If your main concern is having places to ride, mid to lower Michigan is about as good as it gets for the Midwest. Especially if you like sand. Martin Mx is open 3 days a week. RedBud, Twisted Mx, Log Road, just to name a few. Not to mention you have District 14 harescrambles, sprint enduros, and moto races on a regular basis.

Ohio would be my 2nd choice in the great lakes area. They have a good amount of tracks and offroad options.

As for me, I'm in Indiana which is okay for moto but 80% of my riding time is done in Michigan and Ohio.

I Can’t help much with MX in the area, but there’s a ton of off-road racing, which you specifically asked about. You can race every weekend around Ky, WV, OH, VA, TN - Feb thru November if you wanted.

Check these sites out for schedules:

https://kxcracing.com/

www.vxcs.website
https://msxc.com/

www.mountainstateharescramble.com

Off-road and MX racing:
https://www.fasttraxxracing.com/

Small practice tracks open most days and have off-road loops. Nothing special but it’s there:

Never been here but heard good things about the MX track:

Sprint Enduros, which are a ton of fun:

I think it got shut down, due to some legal issues from what I heard. But I’m not 100% sure about that. I was there prob 3-4 yrs ago and yea it was a cool track at that time.
