Everyone has the right to have an opinion, but calling Chad an IDIOT for continuing to do what he loves (and is very good at) was a little too much opinion.
But then again, that’s just my opinion.
Some need to stay in there lane and keep their negative opinions to themselves.
Not going to disagree with that

Chads more competent then most guys on the track. He might not be winning, but probably not crashing. That was a bike issue. Looks like he was going on off and when he went to grab the throttle it locked up or at least cut off. Shame but not his fault.

The crash really didn't seem like it was Chad in over his head or ability, so all the comments about how he shouldn't do this or that is really immaterial.
ANY one of those guys out there last night could have took a dive as the result of a mechanical issue... and it looks like the two 'old timers' were both unfortunate that this happened to them...
Neither Reed nor Grant would have been at the back of the field last night had they had better luck..!

So sad and horrible to see those kids sitting there… But somebody has to say it… nobody at 40 years old belongs on a professional super cross track. He couldn’t even cut a lap two years ago. Stick to managing your three kids love for racing. What an idiot. honestly hate this as much as you want, but there is a reason why RC, RV ECT retired at 28. No old man has any place on a professional Supercross track. The Supercross gods delivered a ugly message to Josh Grant and Chad Reed today. That being said, it’s heartbreaking to see some of my heroes nearly get killed doing something so dumb.

Getting out of the sport after such a successful career relatively healthy I always worry a bit about these dudes tipping their toes back in. Racing full time you're committed and so much more switched on, I think kinda dipping back and forth increases the risk some.

Glad he's gonna be ok.
That’s always been one of Chad’s downfalls. He’s never been one to take the athlete side of the sport quite serious enough. (Compared to his counterparts) He’d get chubby and enjoy his off-seasons and then try to turn it on for a few months and get after it to prep. Produced some memorable moments later on, but his best work was always when he was full time athlete, full time racer in his 20’s. A bit more Brayton/Dungey dedication to the athlete side of things would have made his 30+ results even better. Kudos to Chad for returning at 40 and being competitive though. Complete stud of a man.

Unless you understand the inner workings of Chads prep and training program how can you make the statement? The guy was always physically fit with lap times and actual race endurance

Fuel pump is what ended his night but he’ll be back. Was impressed with his speed after the little amount of time he prepped. Expect him to get some good results in 23’ & bring home good money to provide for his family.
All the guys here giving their “expert” opinions are clowns who can’t see this for what it is, you never had an opportunity to make hundreds of thousands of dollars racing a dirtbike. If he loves it and wants to do it, your opinions mean Jack shit.

Well the most important thing is Ellie got the money shot with the kids emotions and all. It's crazy that one of the most important aspects of life nowadays is to capture the pic. Crazy world.

I’d imagine that’s a picture that they’ll cherish having for a long time as a family. You have a dad teaching his kids how to handle themselves when things don’t go their way, even if it’s at no fault of their own, because sometimes you can do absolutely everything right and things still go wrong. That’s an important lesson in life, and Chad’s showing them how someone with a mature and positive mindset handles themselves. Growing up watching Reedy in the RC/Stew days he definitely wasn’t always that way, but he’s clearly matured with age and is passing that wisdom on to his kids.

those kids are receiving an education few will receive. they are making memories i'm going to assume you wouldn't be able to provide to your own kids. their platform is worthwhile enough that you lost time out of your day to comment on it.

but, you do you.

You don't want to see anyone get hurt. Getting hurt on a dirt bike at any level sucks and it isn't fun. Bummer to see reedy get hurt. Hope he heals up fast and still tries to qualify for a main at 40

You missed the whole point he was trying to make and that was a pathetic stab at Peltier626. You don’t know what the fuq he can or cannot provides to his kids, but I’d bet my paycheck that it’s teachable moments just as the Reeds are doing he just chooses to keep it private. That is all.

But, you do you.

Reed hasn’t crashed a lot in his long career but when he does he doesn’t fuck around.

Ouch

I basically agree with what you are saying, It's the fact that if my spouse is lying in a hospital bed the last thing i am doing is running to my phone to capture and publicize that particular moment. The fact that life now is portrayed through social even if it exploits a particular situation is fine as long as it gets clicks. To me that's very frightening and exploiting those kids in a very vulnerable situation. But that is only my perspective. And is an overall sincerely precious moment that will be remembered for sure. Just seems like exploitation and selfish.

I didn't lose any time, it was a choice of time management. I stand by what i say and provide more than most for my family. I have been doing me all my life. Have a good one. Cheers!

It is really revealing a lot of character as people ridicule Chad for racing and now getting hurt (I told you so !!).
Next time you want to criticize the guys on the line remember this.

Is he racing for his love of the of the sport or the large amount of money they were paying him for racing? because they were having a hard time getting big name riders and thought his name would at weight to their series

Racing for your love of of the sport, AND getting a large amount of money for doing what you love is not neccessarily mutually exclusive, you know.

It's a Bummer he got hurt, but, it is for all who get hurt.

This is the whole race. The crash is at 2.48 and he was down for the rest of the race.

This argument is getting boring already!

Maybe we can say that ONLY the guys who are funding their own racing are the guys who are doing it for the love of the sport?

Anybody who remotely receives any monies or privileges for doing so, is in it purely for those reasons, right??
