Let’s hope RedBud this fall doesn’t wind up hard pack and slick! It’s clear Eli is comfy on that paddle but when the track isn’t deep it’s detrimental to his capabilities because he likes to stick to that tire.

Yeah it would be crazy if that is the difference. But I believe Tomac would win the tiebreaker in that scenario anyway. First tiebreaker is Overalls: Tomac 4, Sexton 3 Second Tiebreaker Moto Wins: Tomac 11, Sexton 7

The paddle tire obviously wasn't a good decision, I don't understand why they went with it. He's been great at Ironman the last few seasons and it's a bit more thick/loamy of a track, so if he is able to pull off a 1-1 that would be amazing for him. I don't see it happening though, Chase will likely take at least 1 of the motos.
The reason he stayed with that tire is because he practices with it all week. It worked well in the first moto, but the track got insanely dry and he didn’t have the same traction he did in moto 1.

Eli should have listened to JS7 and not used that tire in moto 2.

And if Tomac is back to being 'bad start' Tomac this thing is over. It looked like Eli was tired and had no fight in moto 2. He blew a golden opportunity getting that 5th. If you can't beat RD5 you don't deserve the title.

He was TIRED! It just seems like he is not in as good of shape as he used to be. Beast mode shape.

Guess that is not surprising at 29 years old (almost 30), a father of two, and has retirement on his mind.

I also think that 'gift' from Sexton in moto one played tricks on Tomac's mindset in moto two.
