"You can't observe something without changing it"
I wore my 250 FX out and had to go with a 350 KTM.
As far as the claimgate fiasco, you should have probably just recused yourself from any opinion like a lawyer or a judge because no matter what you say the pitchforks are out. No one hears you say the kid should have the bike. You are tied deeply with RacerX/MX Sports and Yamaha so no matter what you say people will judge you as a shill. At the same token, no matter what good Yamaha does for privateers by donating bikes to raffle off etc. they will be seen as the big greedy corporation. Sometimes you gotta take the L.
"I, did not, offer bribes to Brennan Schofield to persuade him to drop the claim. I offered him free motors and a meet your hero RC at the goat farm, but I did not bribe him."
Maybe the fact that the deal was already done and there's nothing in the rules stating that claims can be reversed.
A bribe (sorry, I meant 'offer') is pressure, and it doesn't matter if it comes from your friends, then we just call it peer pressure. Donny, in this case, isn't even a friend, he's just helping pressure Brennan through two common acquaintances.
You responded to a post in which I wrote that the "octupi" implies not that it should have been done better, but that MXSports with its Webb of relationships intended this outcome. Did they dictate this specific outcome is the question you're evading.
Who contacted the dealer and informed him as to what was going on with the claim?
The dealers statement loosely paraphrased "No one from Yamaha Can, USA or affiliates has contacted me about our Yamaha franchise." This statement was very specific in his exclusion of who had not contacted him about his franchise. So who contacted him about the claim? Certainly he knows who contacted him. Or maybe it was an "anonymous" person, LOL!!
EDIT - The "official" statement from the dealer is in ML's part 3 video 2:47.
I had always believed that what separated an AMA event from Chicken Licks was that there was an AMA marshall or official on site that made sure the rules were upheld. If this is not the case...and the event "promoter or organizer" can be delegated sanctioning authority...I think there's a problem.
I've mostly raced Chicken Licks and so have y'all. The amount of favoritism, bullshit and downright cheating is constant. AMA sanctioning was supposed to eliminate that crap. Color me embarrassed.
I could be wrong, didnt Mr. Luce say the offer came prior to the claim based on the amateur support program for the two engines based on issues at Moto X? That the two engines were support help and not tied to the claim?
Thanks!
Pit Row
I still would've held out for the bike tho!
I cant believe he said that, somebody take the shovel out of his hands!!
Some of the posts on here (not particularly talking about the quoted post) would do very very poorly in a courtroom.
I respect your opinion on this matter but the fact is the rules were broken by Yamaha and the crappy thing is that the AMA and MX Sports helped them do it and nothing will happen. I love moto to my core and have since I was 9 years old 25 years ago but this sport has always been very clicky in that if you’re in the right click, you can get away with anything. And that sucks. Regardless of anyone’s opinion towards the kid, he should have that motorcycle. He claimed it and gave the money to the AMA. That should’ve been the end of it.
Reasonable people can disagree whether one Star bike is or isn't better than the deal offered. But the father had the right to judge what was in his kid's best interest. To say that everyone had to follow through with the claim makes no sense.
