This has been a complete Jerry Springer Show for the sport.
1) Tim Cotter gets fired - after further review, clearly he deserves it
2) Luce gets fired - clearly he used corporate influence to change the outcome of the situation
3) Yamaha (or Star) gives Brennan 2 bikes, not 2 engines since his sponsor dropped him (not Star race bikes, but bikes - not 2 motors, but 2 bikes)
4) Matt Walker - he'll get what's coming to him eventually at some point with an attitude and mouth like that. He's going to lip off to the wrong person and that someone is going to just flat out beat his ass and that will be the end of that.
Brennan can use his $17.5K to set up those two bikes the way he wants to.
If you want a motor that can run with or beat the Star motor... Call Bob Wirth. (510) 487-3279. He's in Hayward Ca. He's the guy that did Stars engines Before they took it "in house". He's been at it for a long time. Various mfg's call him to help they with their programs. Kenny Roberts used his services... F1 teams have used him. He also was very involved in Race Gas development with the mfg's of those products. Chances are very high if you use race gas.. it was developed on his dyno (which is NOT a normal one. He built it). Yamaha's has used him.... All the Nascar motor shops know of him. He's a bit of a legend in motorsports racing. 2 and 4 wheel. Very nice guy.
Send him a motor.... or a head.
The problem at hand is the axis of corruption and bullshit between the Deegan camp, the AMA, MX Sports, Matt Walker and Yamaha regarding the bike claim.
One thing I can tell you for sure:
Derek Harris deserves HUGE props for standing up for this kid, trying to help him and trying to get the truth out there regarding what happened. What they did to this kid is completely unacceptable and is a huge black eye for amateur MX racing as a whole.
It's fucking disgusting.
Pit Row
Deegan getting Yamaha involved? BS
Bike being stored in Tim Cotters trailer? Why not an AMA trailer? BS
Letting your kid follow Brennen around in your UTV? BS
Tim Cotter needs to go. Why did he bring Brian Deegan back up to the Ama trailer? Thats not needed.
Brian your a lame ass mofo, then he throws up a video with that stupid smirk on his face talking none sense.
My point: Kid said he wanted to ride the bike? Right? Why? To ride a "factory bike" to see how it performs. Right? The point is such a motor can be had...Suspension tuned. $17K might be a deal for what was in/on that bike though. Looks like we'll never know though.
Now, I agree the story looks pretty ugly for the folks that pressured the kid. Will the AMA do anything about it is the question I have? It could go either way. If Yamaha put pressure... in anyway... on the dealer that's really not good. At all. And what was the Don guy from Yamaha doing in a meeting with them without the AMA etc... Smells really strange to me. Yea... it's not good.
But will anyone do anything? I see ML has some interviews coming out with the folks involved. I suspect there will be
a lot of spin on this.. PR damage control... God what a dumb mess. They should have just turned over the bike.
Btw there was this Honda factory bike claimed at Hangtown years ago. Apparently the port castings were huge compared to the production stuff of that day. But that was the works bike days..... Fewer rules.
Finding someone to build a fast engine is far easier than fixing the train-wreck that is the AMA / MX Sports / OEM juggernaut that is trying to destroy this kid.
I understand where you are coming from tho...
Your first name wouldn’t happen to be Daniel would it?
I think he has handled himself with class beyond his years. As someone who employs people periodically, I was very impressed with his interview. For a 17-year-old he was quite articulate, well-spoken, no mumbling, and concise.
I hope he comes out swinging and gives the establishment a big FU.
The MX Oligopoly or as the TFS said octopus has really exposed itself this year.
