The gap to third place and further down is insane. In both motos over 40 seconds. I mean how do you put 40+ seconds on someone like Anderson or Roczen!

Big mental breakthrough for chase yesterday. It’s one thing to believe you can hold off ET3 but to actually do it is a huge step. These 2 are going to be extremely entertaining to watch for rest of the season.
I absolutely agree with you and yes it’s a big deal. You can see how super pumped he was. I’m just saying it’s no surprise to me that he finally did it, seeing he’s been on the edge of doing it at least 4 or 5 times in the last month.

Chase could be the next guy to go on a title winning streak. 2023 is his make or break IMO. He has to put down a few titles before Jett moves up and that will put him in line for more. I don’t think Jett will move up and win everything right away. Chase could take 2-3 SX and MX titles before Jett and Hunter start winning them. Chase, Jett, and Hunter will win the titles for the next 5-10 years. Maybe one or two one-off title winners in there.

Wow, any word on who Sexton’s new chick is? His stock really went up around the time when that singer chick left him for wackers. Wow I bet she realizes she made a huge mistake about now

They put 27 seconds on Anderson in the last three laps after going down!

Nearly every Moto pod had him as one of if not the favourite for winning SX . Plus as one of the favourite s for outdoor s . Every pro rider has been raving about how much talent he has the last 3 years . So where have you been ??? . Its not that much of a surprise . Heck Matthes thought he would go on a MC run in SX . Sexton hype has been high for a while. I not surprised at all on how good he is riding

Now I wonder if the hardpack conditions at Washougal hard pack conditions played into Sextons favor.

We are seeing some epic racing.

Can Ferrandis play spoiler at Unadilla?
And cooler weather. Eli seems to be at his most dominant when he can carry his speed deep into the second moto on a hot weekend, when the other riders have to slow down.

I moved to Illinois from Las Vegas in Oct. 2013 to begin my career at DeCal Works.

My first weekend in Illinois, I hit an open practice in Mount Carroll called MC Motopark. The track was loamy, wet, and rutted. Needless to say, it was gnarly; especially for me coming from the desert.

While I was gasping for air inbetween practices I noticed a screaming YZ Super Mini out with the A class. This kid was standing up through a long corner rut, then leaning off the back grabbing gears to huck this step up that was all rutted out. I was like who the heck is that? I remember going to work Monday and my co-worker Nic mentioned "Yeah that's Chase, he's faster than you". The next weekend I went to different track called Sunset Ridge in Walnut, IL.
He was still faster than me, I confirmed.

I don't remember him being a standout who would likely be spanking the field. He's always been fast but not beast mode fast and he's often made mistakes. Has everything finally just clicked for him now? Is he putting in more work than the other guys to put him on this level above all his competitors? Has he always "had it"?

Very impressive riding Sexton, the only one who can hang with Eli and now beat him.

He credited his trainer on an MXA interview after Washougal, who used to work with Lance Armstrong....take that however you want. Just stirring the pot.

I just totally disagree with this , sexton "new technique " talk. He looks more old school technique than anything . Elbow s up , stands up loads , always in the attack position. Sits up front on the bike. If anything Eli uses a new technique more of standing in corner s and never taking his feet off the pegs. But to say any of this stuff is new is a stretch. Everts stood way more than any of the rider s mentioned in the 90 s . Roczen was the next to perfect it then imo . Then Eli. Sexton ,Jett and hunter have a perfect technique . But I can name loads of GP riders from year s ago that looked the exact same as them .ie , Steve Roman .
I always feel like Chase rides a lot like David Bailey. They look very similar on the bike.

I would bet a few seconds a lap comes from trey canards testing.

We'll see. Way too early to tell but Chase has a raw speed that I don't see in Jett

Jett reminds me of Webb. Webb was an absolute force in the 250's. Fast forward to the 450's, Webb isn't the fastest guy in SX and we know he's struggled with speed outdoors. This coming from a HUGE Webb fan.

Interesting comparison. I'm a huge Jett fan by the way. One moto at Unadilla in '19 and I was sold. The thing with Jett is he doesn't flash insane speed like Chase does but I think he has it. He's just so smart and rides within himself, we don't see it. After he blew up his bike at Red Bud 2nd moto it looked like he wanted to prove a point and yarded everyone by 20sec.
Can you imagine Webb with Jett's speed in the whoops? How could he ever lose?

Peter Park was Lance’s strength coach. It’s pretty well documented that Lance (and lots of others) was getting his doping supplies and advice from Michele Ferrari.

As for Chase, when he won the SX championship in 2019, I almost felt bad for him. I thought it’d force him to move up to the 450s before he was ready. I’m sure glad he proved me wrong. He and Eli are really putting on a show this year. Awesome to watch.

Pretty easy really... both those guys are currently racing not to get hurt... both could be a lot faster, but they have no reason to push and get hurt, and a million reasons to come out of the nationals at 100 percent

What I saw was one guy who was a little faster (Tomac) make several pass attempts but could not do it clean and decided to fight another day for whatever reason (tired, tearoffs, etc). Very one line track.

Eli just beat Chase eight motos in a row. He had to lose a moto at some point. ET3 is not RC4 or have we forgotten and expect him to win every moto??? The rest of the way will be back and forth until someone makes a mistake.

I didn’t know who Sexton was until he won his first 250 SX title. Forkner had him spanked in every sense of the word until his knee blew up. Sexton was fast but couldn’t touch Forkner. Winning that title was lucky imo but you have to be in it to win it. His title defense year he looked like he really cranked it up a few notches. And every year since has been 10 fold. Stoked to see him do good.
Completely agree. It’s wild to see how far his career has surpassed Forkner’s.

Can’t wait to see Chase and Ferrandis battling next summer Grinning
